He wished the celebrated intellectual many more fulfilling years in peace, joy, and divine grace.

Illah Community Commends Oborevwori, Esenwah as Otu-Umutei/Monastery Road Project Progresses

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

The people of Illah community have lauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for mobilising contractors to site and ensuring steady progress on the long-awaited Otu-Umutei/Monastery Road project in Illah.

Work on the road has advanced to the stone-base stage, ahead of priming and asphalting, as contractors intensify efforts to complete the project before the onset of the rainy season. The current level of progress, community leaders say, confirms that the project is fully back on course after years of abandonment by previous administrations.

Residents attributed the renewed momentum to the consistent follow-up and interventions of the Member representing Oshimili North Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwah, whose sustained engagements with Governor Oborevwori and the contractors have continued to yield visible and verifiable results on the ground.

The community expressed optimism that the road, once completed, will significantly boost economic activities in the area, particularly for farmers and market traders who rely heavily on the route for the transportation of goods and farm produce.

They noted that the road is of strategic importance, not only to Illah but also to neighbouring communities across Delta North and adjoining parts of Edo State.
According to the residents, the Otu-Umutei/Monastery Road is a critical economic lifeline that had suffered prolonged neglect, and its revival under the Oborevwori administration underscores the governor’s commitment to responsive and people-centred governance.

They praised Governor Oborevwori as a “talk-and-do” leader who listens to the yearnings of the people and translates promises into action, while also commending Hon. Esenwah for effective representation and tireless advocacy on behalf of his constituents.

With construction work progressing steadily, the people of Illah expressed confidence that the project will be completed within schedule, reaffirming their support for the state government’s development agenda.

DELTA: ACNPN Hails Ukwuani Councilor’s Court Victory, Calls for Accountability in Local Governments

By: Precious Erugo

The Delta State Chairman of the Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Comrade Ike Philip Abiagom, has commended the councillor representing Ukwuani Local Government Area, Hon. Chukwuemeka Kenneth, over his legal victory at the High Court of Justice, Obiaruku, describing it as a landmark triumph for accountability and transparency at the grassroots.

Hon. Chukwuemeka secured the court victory against the Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Council, the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) and the Treasurer, following their failure to disclose the council’s income and expenditure to the legislative arm of the council, as required by law.

Comrade Abiagom noted that the judgement, which upheld the mandamus action instituted by the councillor, reaffirmed the constitutional role of the legislature in ensuring checks and balances within the local government system. He praised the judiciary for its courage and clarity in dispensing justice, stressing that the ruling has strengthened democratic governance at the third tier of government.

The ACNPN chairman urged councillors across other local government areas in the state to emulate the example set by Hon. Chukwuemeka by standing firm on their constitutional rights and responsibilities, particularly in demanding accountability from executive chairmen and key financial officers.

According to him, councillors owe a duty to their constituents to demand transparency in the management of public funds in order to effectively deliver the dividends of democracy at the grassroots.

Comrade Abiagom further called on councillors to take a cue from the Delta State House of Assembly, noting that all projects executed by the state government must pass through the legislature for scrutiny and approval, a practice that reinforces accountability and good governance.

He stressed that with increased funds now available to local governments, councillors must rise to the occasion by providing effective legislative oversight and guiding their executive chairmen towards prudent and transparent management of public resources.

The ACNPN reiterated its commitment to promoting good governance, transparency and accountability through responsible community journalism across Delta State and Nigeria at large.

Through personal sacrifice, influence and goodwill, Pastor Okeze has touched lives in ways that transcend conventional charity. His empowerment programmes and direct support for struggling families have positioned him as one of the most visible and impactful grassroots figures in Igbuzo. Many residents openly attest that his presence and contributions are felt more strongly than those of several serving political office holders, a testament to the depth of his engagement with the people.

Unlike sporadic acts of benevolence often driven by occasion, Pastor Okeze’s generosity is a lifestyle anchored in genuine love for humanity. Over the years, he has facilitated and attracted empowerment opportunities that have restored dignity and hope to thousands. From supporting widows and the elderly to encouraging young entrepreneurs, sponsoring skills acquisition initiatives and assisting small-scale businesses, his interventions have become an integral part of everyday survival and resilience in the community.

His life and work serve as a reminder that leadership is not defined by the office one occupies, but by the lives one touches and the impact one leaves behind.

Today, the people of Igbuzo celebrate Pastor Idowu Okeze—an uncommon philanthropist, a steadfast champion of the people and a living testament to the enduring power of selfless service to humanity.

Ebu: A Community Left Behind, Crying for Government’s Attention

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

For decades, Ebu community has remained largely forgotten and abandoned on the development map of Delta State, despite its consistent loyalty to government and unwavering commitment to civic responsibility.

The last visible presence of government in Ebu dates back to the year 2000, during the administration of former Governor James Ibori, when the Ebu–Ukala Road was constructed. Since that time, the community has witnessed little or no government intervention, leaving residents to wonder whether Ebu still exists in the consciousness of successive administrations.

Today, Ebu stands as a painful symbol of neglect. The only government-owned general hospital in the town is in a deplorable condition—barely fit to be called a healthcare facility. Its state is so poor that concerned sons of the community were compelled to step in, renovating the doctors’ quarters and installing solar power just to make the environment habitable for medical personnel.

While commendable, these efforts cannot replace the urgent need for proper medical infrastructure, equipment, and sustained government support.

Road infrastructure in Ebu paints an equally distressing picture. The community cannot boast of a single good road. Major internal roads, including the popular Palace Road where the health centre is located, have been severely damaged by gully erosion. During the rainy season, many of these roads become completely impassable. Students are often unable to attend school, as erosion has eaten deep into the roads, cutting off access and worsening an already dire situation. It is indeed a sorrowful condition that Ebu community faces today.

Access to clean and safe drinking water remains a major challenge. In the 21st century, residents of Ebu still rely on streams and rivers for survival. These sources are often contaminated, exposing the people to waterborne diseases such as cholera, with grave consequences for public health.

The state of education in Ebu is no less alarming. Public schools in the community are in a dilapidated state, marked by collapsing structures and poor learning environments that discourage both teachers and pupils.
Under such conditions, it is difficult to speak of quality education, as the future of Ebu’s children hangs precariously in the balance.

Despite these numerous challenges, the people of Ebu have remained peaceful, law-abiding, and politically active. They have consistently performed their civic duties by participating in elections and, for many years, supported the ruling party in Delta State. Unfortunately, this loyalty has not translated into meaningful development or improved living conditions for the community.

With deep pain and frustration, residents now ask: What sin did Ebu commit to deserve such prolonged abandonment? Why has a peaceful, hardworking, and loyal community been left to struggle alone for decades?

The people of Ebu are therefore passionately appealing to the amiable Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, fondly known as “Mr. Project,” to remember their community. They are calling for urgent government intervention in healthcare, road infrastructure, erosion control, water supply, education, and other critical areas of development—before Ebu is completely erased from the developmental map of Delta State.
Ebu is not asking for special treatment. The community seeks only fairness, inclusion, and access to the basic dividends of democracy that every community in Delta State rightfully deserves.

How Obi (Dr.) Henry Ajudua-I Revitalised Igbuzo’s Eze Title Heritage

By : Ike Philip Abiagom- Newsbreeze

The month of February holds special significance in Igbuzo, as the community celebrates one of its illustrious sons, Obi (Dr.) Henry Chukwuma Ajudua-I, whose birthday falls on February 26. Fondly described by many as a “swaggerlious” Eze title holder with uncommon grace and vision, Obi Ajudua-I represents a unique blend of royalty, intellect and service to humanity.

Obi (Dr.) Henry Chukwuma Ajudua-I, the Chief Executive Officer of Vebron Carre International, USA, stands as a distinguished son of Igbuzo whose life reflects professional excellence, deep cultural commitment and unwavering humanitarian service. A medical doctor by training and a successful global entrepreneur, he has consistently channelled his resources and influence toward improving lives in both Nigeria and the United States, with particular emphasis on his ancestral home, Igbuzo.

Through Vebron Carre Conglomerates, Obi Ajudua-I has empowered countless individuals through scholarship programmes, free medical outreach initiatives, donations of essential and life-changing materials, and sustained community-based interventions. These efforts underscore his enduring commitment to quality healthcare delivery, educational advancement and human capital development, especially among the underserved.

Beyond philanthropy, Obi (Dr.) Ajudua-I has etched his name indelibly in the history of Igbuzo by redefining and revitalising the traditional institution of the Eze title. Drawing inspiration from generations of revered Eze title holders, he has restored dignity, relevance and global visibility to the Obi institution. Since assuming the revered title, his leadership has marked a defining chapter in the cultural and historical evolution of Igbuzo.

His ascension to the Eze title is deeply rooted in ancestral heritage. His grandfather, the late Obi Egbuke Ajudua, was a respected Eze title holder and the most senior Diokpa of Igbuzo before the outbreak of the Nigerian Civil War.

That enduring legacy of leadership and service laid a firm foundation for continuity. Long before his emergence as Obi, it was foretold within the family that Dr. Henry Ajudua would one day follow in the footsteps of his forebears—a destiny that later unfolded in remarkable fashion.

The Eze title in Igbuzo is regarded as a sacred and highly revered institution, governed by strict tradition, consultation and spiritual responsibility. Many who approached it without due adherence to its demands were unable to complete its full rites. For Obi Henry Ajudua-I, however, his successful completion of the rituals and acceptance by tradition affirmed his legitimacy. Today, he remains a central force behind the revitalisation of the Guild of Ndi-Eze-Igbuzo, helping to restore honour, unity and prestige to the institution at a time it faced significant challenges.

A devoted custodian of Igbuzo culture, Obi Ajudua-I maintained a strong connection to his roots even while residing in the United States. Despite the comfort and opportunities abroad, his commitment to home never wavered. When the Eze institution experienced a vacuum and declining prestige, particularly across Ezebuogwu, he answered the call of history and duty by returning home to assume the revered title. Today, he is widely regarded as one of the most globally exposed and internationally connected Obi title holders in Igbuzo.

By accepting the highest traditional title—the Eze—in the land, Obi Ajudua-I sought not personal acclaim, but the restoration and preservation of his people’s heritage. Through cultural diplomacy, inclusive leadership and purposeful engagement, he has projected Igbuzo’s culture, values and identity onto the global stage, redefining the relevance of traditional leadership in a modern society.

Today, Obi (Dr.) Henry Chukwuma Ajudua-I stands as a symbol of continuity and progress—tradition strengthened by vision and compassion. As a philanthropist, medical professional, global entrepreneur and holder of the highest traditional title in Igbuzo, he has elevated the prestige of the Obi institution, ensuring that the ancient Eze title remains respected, relevant and proudly positioned in a rapidly changing world.
