Senator Nwaoboshi felicitates with Nigerians on Democracy Day

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi

Former Chairman Senate Committee on Niger – Delta Affairs, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) has commended Nigerians for their unwavering commitment to forge a better, stronger, safer and more prosperous nation despite the hiccups in the attempt to put in place stronger democratic values in the country.

In his message on this year’s Democracy Day, Senator Nwaoboshi said, “as we commemorate the significance of Democracy Day, Nigerians must remember the immeasurable sacrifice of our heroes, as well celebrate the courage and persistence of all Nigerians.”

“Everyday, we strive to deliver greater dividends of democracy to the citizenry by steadily improving the economy and fulfilling the aspiration of our people.

“Today, uppermost in the minds of Nigerians is the question of security, in many parts of the country. We must immediately find solutions to the security issues and ensure that we return to the regime of peace, safety of lives and property in all parts of our country. These are significant challenges we face, but with our current combined efforts, I believe that we will bring greater development to the country.

“History will not be fair to us if we allow our complacency to jeopardize democracy. We must all be able to speak out with strong voices on issues that constitute a danger to democracy.

“I would like us all to remember that Democracy is not just about elections. It also involves the rule of law, following due process, respecting and nurturing institutions. It is also unity of purpose while being accountable when we are in positions of authority. I will continue to advocate building up of our institutions, while upholding ethics and values.

“Above all, we must work for greater and better understanding among all Nigerians, notwithstanding ethnicity, language, religion or gender. We must avoid making and circulating hate speech which can further accentuate our fault lines and set one section of the country against the other. Rather, we should all embrace tolerance and the need to be our brother’s keeper.

“We all have a lot to gain from a united and stronger Nigeria than having a nation embedded in conflict.

“Let us all focus on the things that bring us together, Happy Democracy Day.”

A PRESS CONFERENCE CONVENED BY THE IBUSA YOUTHS COUNCIL ON THE ILLEGAL INAUGURATION OF INTERIM YOUTHS COMMITTEE BY THE OBUZOR OF IBUSA

Good day gentlemen of the press. On behalf of the Ibusa Youth Council and the good and peace loving people of Ibusa, we welcome you all to this press conference.
We have convened here to discuss critical issues capable of disrupting the peace of not just Ibusa, Oshimili North Delta state.

It is on record that a large part of Ibusa history has revolved around resisting injustice in all its forms and manifestations against Ibusa people and the Anioma Peoples. The attention of the Executive governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been drawn to a kangaroo Ibusa Interim Youth Council , inaugurated by His Royal Majesty, Obi(Prof) Chelunor Nwoboshi, the Obuzor of Ibusa.

Amb. Vincent Ollimmah addressing a press conference at the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) press Centre Asaba, this afternoon,June 11, 2025, wishes to set the records straight, that His Royal Majesty, Obi(Prof) Chelunor Nwoboshi, the Obuzor of Ibusa doesn’t have the capacity to appoint Interim Committee to conduct a Youth Council election in Ibusa.

The Constitution of The Ibusa Youths Council, Section 13,and the Delta State Ministry Of Youth electoral guidelines empowers only the out-going Youth President and it’s committee to constitute the electoral committee that can carry out their duties independently and oversee the electoral process of the incoming executives of the Youths body.

The Ibusa Youths Council wonder why His Royal Majesty, Obi(Prof) Chelunor Nwoboshi and the Oshimili North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Innocent Esewezie feel they can twist justice and manipulate the Ibusa Youths Council Constitutional Electoral process by illegally hand picking an illegal Interim Youths Committee headed by Obuzor`s personal Aide. The role of the Obuzor by the provision of Section 12 of the Youth constitution ,says that the Obuzor will be acting in Advisory Capacity ONLY.

Prior before now, when Obuzor infuriated the original list of the Electoral Committee, the youths actually wanted to protest, but they felt it was not necessary. So we decided to seek a legal redress to enable the court interpret the constitution to everybody and to bring peace to Igbuzo because we don’t want rancor or chaos in Igbuzo. I wouldn’t want a situation where the palace will be ridiculed also. Hence we had to go to court. It is not we that took HRM to court but the constitution. We sort for an injunction to hold on at the moment and after the decision of the court, if the court decides otherwise no problem, if it decides that section 13 should go ahead to no problem as well, we will move ahead and follow the Constitution of Ibusa Youth Council.

Honestly speaking we respect the palace and HRM Obi Nwoboshi a lot. we believe that Somebody is working on him because if he is properly advised he wouldn’t have gone to this extent of going against his constitutional power. We have our constitution and it is not stated that anybody outside the youths council will conduct our election ,so any group of persons who are lobbying to bring in anybody to disturb our election will fail woefully because we are wiser now than before. The youths body should be allow to elect their leaders and we don’t need any external interference in this election.

The constitution gives the out going President of Igbuzo Youth Council the legal right to conduct the election that will pilot new youth executives. Candidates have already bought the election forms, made to go to places to get their results, went to court to stamp their forms, sworn affidavits, submitted their forms to the committee, screened and they knew what they saw when they came for screening and for goodness sake, you don’t throw such a process just at a wave of hand. That is a complete injustice to human and injustice to one is injustice to all. All youths must stand at this point and understand that where they stand is where they need to stand.

The recent inauguration of interim government/electoral committee is a brazen abuse of power by traditional and political actors who are expected to be custodians of peace and order in the Community doing the contrary. It is shameful and disgraceful witnessing the current Ibusa Youths Council saga at the moment. It was a deliberate attempt by the Obuzor and the Local Government Chairman to bypass the constitution of the Ibuzor youths council and impose leadership to Unpopular candidate through backdoor arrangement.

We wish to inform the entire Ibusa and Deltans that the political Abracadabra that took place on the 26th-27th in the palace of Obuzor is a mirage and cannot be allowed to stand because the case or suspension of Ibusa Youths Council Election is a matter that is still pending in the court which is tantamount to contempt of court when violated by any person as the law is not a respecter of any person or king.

It is regrettable that the office of the Commissioner of Youth has become a political ground where misguided Ibusa leaders now gather to nefariously conduct themselves in a manner that speaks high sense of irresponsibility and use their closeness to Commissioner to manipulate the Ibusa Youths Council electoral process without respecting the already working legal document called constitution of the youths body and that of Delta State Ministry of Youths Election Guidelines. We forwarded a petition through our lawyer B.O Okoji to the Honourable Commissioner of Youth concerning the inauguration of illegal Interim Committee by the Obozor of Ibusa, but he ignored our petition , hosted the Ibusa youth illegal interim committee in his office yesterday and also allegedly pleaded support to the illegal interim committee for the conduct of Ibusa Youth election.

Based on the above, few EXCO of Ibusa Youths Council visited the office of the Hon. Commissioner for Youths Development today to clarify issues as regarding the illegal imposition of interim youths committee by the Obuzor of Igbuzo but he tactically avoided seeing us as we wasted hours without meeting him probably because he is on the side of the palace.

Finally, the entire Ibusa community is calling on His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who is the Chief Security Officer of the state and other relevant authorities to caution the Obuzor of Ibusa over abuse of democratic process in the affairs of Ibusa Youth Council and checkmate the abuse of power, as their over zealousness for power can cause chaos and breakdown of law and order in Ibusa, As a stitch in time saves nine.

Signed:
Amb. Vincent Ollimah

A Special Birthday Tribute to Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike: An Enigma Like No Other

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

Age may be a number but life is certainly a battle. And if the life is that of the urbane and personable the Chairman of Hotel de Espana, Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike, then life is not only a battle–it is a full blown war. Ever since he adorned himself as a soldier for good, he has had no reprieve from the unrelenting forces of evil. He is caught in the vortex of the eternal battle between good and evil.

Indeed, to those who know him up close and personal, Dike is an enigma: humble, self-effacing, industrious, practical, efficient by nature, diligent, always thinking about things he needs to accomplish or how to get ahead on his next assignment, a complete Gemini, if you care to assess him by his Zodiac sign. But in plain terms, he is a case of a man who set out to always make a difference wherever he found himself. Not the kind of difference other men pursue to grandstand, but the type that impacts humanity and makes life easier for people. And of this, his track record is unassailable. A look back at his trajectory gives a chronicle of exemplary service to his community and a profile of pure patriotism from an individual.

Greatness is a property for which no man can receive credit too soon; it must be possessed long before it is acknowledged. ”When one of the world’s greatest thinkers, Ralph Waldo Emerson handed down the above words of wisdom, those he had in mind were certainly the likes of Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike (Espana)! .

For the trail-blazing Business mogul from Isieke-Ibusa,Delta State, it is certainly impossible to gloss over his attributes for greatness. He is the embodiment of cerebral articulation, the essence of unparalleled philanthropy, the epitome of intellection and breathtaking simplicity, the personification of undiluted humanness, the perfect example of business leadership symbolism, the paragon of idealism, the soul of humanity, the heart of warrior, a perfect gentleman. In the gallery of great leaders and great men, he is without doubt, a rare masterpiece. Anyone who encounters him would love to associate with him for his candour, courage and forthrightness. As a human being, his humility and modesty is second to none. As an Businessman, he is sound and engaging.

Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike,he means different things to different people; to his wife and children, he is a loving husband and a kind daddy, while to us his admirers,he is known as the Digital Business Strategist but his detractors always erroneously see him as an obstacle because of his rising profile in business,Politics and acceptance by the grassroots.

Ambrose is not only the Pride of Dike’s but also the Pride of the People of Oshimili North Local Government Area for whom he had waged countless business and political wars for and won virtually all, just like the Greek mythological Odyssey who fought and won difficult battles in History. Indeed the birthday celebration of this digital Businessman of our time had been useful and Resourceful for his service to humanity. Therefore today let me on behalf of Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi (SPON) Political Family join the rest of my beloved Ibusa kingdom in Oshimili North Local government Area of Deltans and Nigerians at large to celebrate our Business and Political iconoclastic Espana International(Umuejei-Ibusa),to thank Almighty God for adding another year to his life and to pray that God continues to bless him with robust health, protection, and enduring provision. Your business reign shall bring prosperity and peace to Ibusa, Oshimili, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
Your legendary generosity and willingness to do good at all times is documented in the hearts of millions. That is why on your birthday, You deserves a toast and song, “Happy birthday to you…” Above all, You deserves a prayer from everyone who is on the side of truth in the eternal battle between truth and falsehood.
Happy birthday to the regent, aka Umuejei-Ibusa,a great lover of our tradition.

Ibusa Youth Election: Youths protest, reject imposition of new Interim Committee by traditional ruler

By: Oby Edward

The people of Ibusa in the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, have rejected the alleged plan of His Royal Majesty, Obi Prof. Chelunor Nwoboshi the Obuzor of Ibusa and the Oshimili North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Innocent Eseweizie to impose an Interim Youths Committee to conduct the Ibusa Youths Council Election in Ibusa against the wish of the people.

The Constitution of The Ibusa Youths Council, Section 13, empowers only the out-going Youths President and it’s committee to constitute the electoral committee that can carry out their duties independently and oversee the electoral process of the incoming executives of the Youths body. It is very sad for the entire Ibusa to witness how the palace twisted justice and manipulated the Ibusa Youths Council Constitutional Electoral process by illegally hand picking an illegal Interim Youths Committee headed by Obuzor`s personal Aide, while the case of suspension of Ibusa youths council election is still pending in the court of competent jurisdiction.

The recent inauguration of interim government\electoral committee is a brazen abuse of power by His Royal Majesty , Obi Prof. Chelunor Nwoboshi The Obuzor of Ibuzor and political actors who are expected to be custodians of peace and order in the Community doing the contrary. It is shameful and disgraceful witnessing the current Ibusa Youths Council saga at the moment. It was a deliberate attempt by the Obuzor and the Local Government Chairman to bypass the constitution of the Ibuzor youths council and impose leadership on Unpopular candidate through backdoor arrangement.

Leadership is not by coercive tendencies with open impunity that it must go my way, otherwise, heaven will fall. This is absolutely wrong in all ramifications of human judgement and we urge those perpetuating this evil to rethink because we can not continue to hit up Ibusa politics all the time because we have resolved to fraudulently hijack the process by all indication of human calculations in pursuit of who gets what in Ibusa Youth Council Election.

The sudden hijack of the youths election by the palace is worrisome because the Ibusa Youths Council Constitution stated clearly that the office of the Obuzor should be respected as advisory and non executive member, The office of the Obuzor has no fundamental rights and powers to appoint or inaugurate any interim/electoral committee.

It’s rather unfortunate that everything about Ibusa development as regards to who gets what in pursuit of free fair and credible for all is shrouded in secrecy; with Intent to manipulate the process of Ibuzo youth council election by all means.

During Easter conference, Ibusa Community Development Union(ICDU)unanimously agreed to take up its role and responsibility of resolving this impasse by bringing all contending parties to common understanding and take steps to commence the process of conducting a free and fair election to the satisfaction of the Ibusa community as a whole. it’s shameful that the palace did not consult the ICDU before setting up the illegal interim committee. ICDU according to our source had held several fruitful meetings with the youths, Local Government Chairman and the palace to finalize and resolve the issue of the court case between the Ibusa youths council and the palace.

ICDU were stunned with the breaking news of setting up of the interim youth council by the Obuzor on the 26th of May, 2025,Besides, the ICDU President General was invited to the palace on that faithful day that the pronouncement was made without due consultation. Chief Victor Uchunor who is the president general of ICDU (PG) is an automatic member of Obuzor cabinet, so his presence does not invalidate the outcome of the palace decision even when he holds a different view from the palace stands it makes no difference either.

It was alledged that the President General tactically refused to attend the inauguration because he knows it is demeaning and embarrassing for ICDU to be involved in such illegality, although that same day, he was chairing the Children’s Day celebration at St. Thomas College . This apparent disdain for ICDU body by the Obuzor is most demeaning and embarrassing to the entire Ibusa Community and is seen overtime as a deliberate attempt to underscore the fact that there is an unending plan to extinguish the position of ICDU as a body that midwifed the creation of Obuzor institution in Ibusa.

Speaking with a strong member of the ICDU who prefers anonymity, said that the setting up of an interim Youths body by Obuzor of Ibusa is illegal and cannot stand the taste of time, because according to the Ibusa Youths Council constitution, Obuzor just has an advisory role to play as the traditional ruler. Also, the Delta State Ministry of Youths electoral guidelines for youth election did not grant neither the Obuzor nor the local government Chairman such power to impose any committee on Y ouths election. He further explained that the process leading to the pronouncement of Youths electoral Committee should be transparent and devoid of any form of imposition or manipulation.
Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, another youth member of ICDU, faulted moves by Obuzor and some individuals to bypass the laid-down procedures for selecting New Ibusa Youths Council Executives and impose them on the community.

He added that an attempt to jettison the age-long practice and handpick an individual would not be in the interest of peace, progress, or the development of the community.

He advised the officials of government at both state and local government levels to give the community the opportunity to follow the normal process of electing their youths leaders.

Finally, the entire Ibusa community is calling on His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who is the Chief Security Officer of the state and other relevant authorities to caution the Obuzor of Ibusa over abuse of democratic process in the affairs of Ibusa Youth Council and checkmate the abuse of power, as their over zealousness for power can cause chaos and breakdown of law and order in Ibusa. A stitch in time saves nine.

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi

Ibusa Youths Council Election: Crisis looms as Obuzor Appoint Interim Youths Council

By: Precious Erugo
HRM, Obi (Prof.) Louis Chelunor Nwoboshi
Obuzor of Igbuzo

With the tension rising in Ibusa community over the alleged inauguration of interim Ibusa Youths Council by his Royal Majesty, the Obuzor of Ibusa, Obi (Professor) Chelunor Nwoboshi and the Local Government Chairman,Hon. Innocent Eseweise against the constitution of the Ibusa Youths body and Delta State Ministry of Youths Election Guidelines despite the subsisting court injunction stopping any youths election in Ibusa. The Obuzor of Ibusa went ahead to inaugurate illegal Interim Ibusa Youths Council government to be led by his personal aide.

With reference to section 13 of  the Ibusa Youths Council Constitution, which Empowers only the out-going Youths President to constitute the electoral committee that can carry out their duties independently and oversee the electoral process of the incoming executives of the Youths body. It is very sad  for the entire Ibusa to witness how the palace twisted justice and manipulated the Ibusa Youths Council Constitutional Electoral process by illegally nominating a Caretaker executive leadership to the office of Ibusa Youths council headed by his palace aide while the case of suspension of Ibusa youths council election is still pending in the court of competent jurisdiction.

The recent inauguration of interim government\electoral committee is a brazen abuse of power by traditional and political actors who are expected to be custodians of peace and order in the Community doing the contrary. It is shameful and disgraceful witnessing  the current Ibusa Youths Council saga at the moment. It was a deliberate attempt by the Obuzor and the Local Government Chairman to bypass the constitution of the Ibuzor youths council and impose leadership with Unpopular candidate through backdoor arrangement.

According to the out-going Secretary of Ibusa Youths Council, Comrade Vincent Olimmah, who condemned the recent inauguration of the illegal action of the palace saying that the proposed Youths election was illegally punctured by a group of persons who deliberately want to destroy the aspirations of the people in a bait to install their own candidate by all means. It is pertinent to know that this youths election saga started  when the Ibusa Youths Council Electoral committee members were fairly selected and inaugurated according to the youths constitution, the Electoral Committee was led by one Barr. Charles Nwaogwugwu. The committee was charged with the responsibility to conduct a free, fair and credible election for all contestants who were qualified to contest for any position of their choice.

The sudden hijack of the youths election by the palace is worrisome because the Ibusa Youths Council Constitution stated clearly that the office of the Obuzor should be respected as advisory and non executive member, The office of the Obuzor has no fundamental rights and  powers to appoint or inaugurate any interim\electoral committee.

It’s a known fact that the youths is the life wire of every community, and the youths must be allowed to choose their leaders as stated in their constitution and not through manipulation by power brokers as such could lead to political tension and violence. We cannot continue to build a democracy where the law is treated as a suggestion and not a command, the court is the proper venue to settle electoral dispute .

The office of the Obuzor of Ibusa should respect the right and the constitution of Ibusa Youths Council and play his expected role as the advisory and non executive member, He should not meddle with fundamental rights and powers of the outgoing Ibusa youths council president.

We wish to inform the entire Ibusa and Deltans that the political Abracadabra that took place on 26th-27th in the palace is a mirage and cannot be allowed because the case or suspension of Ibusa Youths Council Election is a matter that is still pending in the court which is tantamount to contempt of court when violated by any person as the law is not a respecter of any person or king. We are using this medium to appeal to all the political actors who are using the office of the Obuzor to achieve their malicious aim in a bait to forcefully go against the court order by nominating illegal executives should be mindful of the consequence as the matter is before a competent court of law.

It is regrettable that the Ibusa Royal Palace of Obuzor has become a political ground where misguided leaders now gathered to nefariously conduct themselves in a manner that speaks high sense of irresponsibility and use their closeness to Obuzor of Ibusa to manipulate the Ibusa Youths Council electoral process without respecting the already working legal document called constitution of the youths body and that of Delta State Ministry of Youths Election Guidelines.

The Ibusa youths election must be conducted in a free and fair process to enable the youths choose their rightful leader and not by manipulation with attempt to callously intimidate the qualified candidates in a bait to forcefully enthrone through the backdoor the President of Ibusa youth council.

Finally, the entire Ibusa community is calling on His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori who is the Chief Security Officer of the state to checkmate the abuse of power by the palace and other political actors as their over zealousness for power can cause chaos and breakdown of law and  order in Ibusa. As a stitch in time saves nine.
