Olorogun (Dr.) Joshua Oghenejiru Muwhen is a seasoned legal practitioner, corporate strategist, and mortgage banker with over two and half decades of progressive leadership experience in Nigeria’s financial services sector. He currently serves as the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Delta Trust Mortgage Bank Limited, Asaba, a leading financial institution owned by the Delta State Government of Nigeria.
His upbringing has defined his career path. From home, he learnt diligence, resilience and commitment to good values that have shaped his endeavours. Its amazing to note that he has over two and a half decades of cognate Mortgage banking and broad executive management experience, rising through the ranks to his current position.
As the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Delta Trust Mortgage Bank Limited, Dr. Muwhen has brought a unique blend of leadership, commitment, and compassion to his role. In fact, Muwhen’s ascent to the zenith of his career demonstrates his relentless work ethic. He has consistently shown excellence, overcoming challenges with grace.
As the Acting Managing Director of Delta Trust Mortgage Bank Limited, a role he has assumed since the former Managing Director, Mrs Ruby Okoro assume the position of the Chief Executive Officer, he is poised to steer the institution toward greater heights. His strategic vision and innovative thinking will shape the bank’s future. His track record of success, combined with his ability to inspire and motivate teams, ensures that Delta Trust Mortgage Bank Limited remains a powerhouse in the Mortgage financial industry. His romance with Delta Trust Mortgage Bank Limited started in April 2000 when he was posted to the bank, and ever since then, he has not looked back. His 25-year stint reveals a story of hard work and determination. Many couldn’t envision Delta Trust Mortgage Bank Limited without imagining Muwhen as an active force of operations and success. Even when he was the Executive Director (HR, Admin, Corporate & Legal), he has helped steer the institution onto its current path and continued to contribute significantly to the bank’s growth.
In addition to his impressive work ethic, Olorogun Mwuhen has also excelled academically, demonstrating his commitment to intellectual development. His dedication to continuous learning and professional growth has set him apart as a role model for aspiring others.
His academic pursuit has been marked by excellence. Remarkably, he holds first-class degrees in sociology, accounting, and law. She earned a first degree in Bachelor of Laws (LLB) – University of Benin, Edo State, Barrister-at-Law (BL) – Nigerian Law School, Master of Business Administration (MBA) – University of Benin, Edo State, Post-Graduate Diploma in Theology, Doctorate in Business Administration (Honoris Causa) – Prowess University, Delaware, USA. He has further honed his executive leadership capacity through specialized courses at the Lagos Business School, including Legal Issues in Human Resource Management and Company Secretary & Board Effectiveness..
Dr. Muwhen is a respected member of several professional bodies, including: Nigerian Bar Association (NBA),Institute of Directors (IoD),Rotary International,Chartered Institute of Arts Professionals, USA (FCIAP – Fellow) and among others.
Beyond banking and law, Dr. Muwhen has played a pioneering role in governance and community service. He was the first Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Legal Adviser in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State. As a traditional leader, he holds the title of Achoja of Udu Kingdom – meaning “Defender of the Oppressed and Deprived.” This underscores his lifelong commitment to justice, equity, and empowerment.
Beyond banking, Muwhen has made significant contributions towards research and learning on inspirational leadership, mentorship, talent development, collaboration, change and adaptability, strategic thinking, innovation, and creativity.
His passion for charity work and compassion is legendary. According to a statement issued by Grassroots Care Foundation when he was appointed Executive Director (HR, Admin, Corporate & Legal), “Muwhen’s commitment to philanthropy is unwavering. He has championed numerous charitable initiatives, touching the lives of countless individuals.” The group said his passion for giving back to the community has led to transformative projects, from supporting education and healthcare to empowering vulnerable populations.
His contributions towards improving humanity have been recognised by various organisations which awarded him the Humanitarian Service Icon of the Year, 2024.
In the award citation, Dr Muwhen was recognised not just for his outstanding banking career and contributions to the development of an effective Nigerian financial services sector, but more importantly for his many philanthropic works and sustained commitment over the years to improving the lives of less privileged persons.
Dr Muwhen’s impact at Delta Trust Mortgage Bank has been nothing short of transformative. A financial institution once considered moribund and buried under past administrators. Muwhen corporate strategist, and mortgage banker with over two and half decades of progressive leadership experience in Nigeria’s financial services sector, The Mortgage bank has been revived today, it is back on a solid growth trajectory.

Dr Muwhen contributed to building the bank’s headquarters in Asaba ,now the Mortgage bank headquarters stand out as one of the finest financial buildings in the capital city, drawing attention for both its aesthetics and professionalism. Under Muwhen’s watch, the bank has posted a revenue surge of over 300% following an aggressive marketing campaign and a targeted expansion strategy.
In a recent milestone, Delta Trust Mortgage Bank was selected by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as one of only two mortgage banks in the entire country authorised to process RSA entitlements for EFCC staff nationwide, a vote of confidence that places the bank on a new pedestal of national relevance.
Dr. Muwhen commitment to the noble ethics of the banking profession, strict compliance to the CBN’s reforms in the Nigerian banking industry and the economic development of the nation, coupled with his exemplary leadership in and out of the boardroom has contributed to the rapid growth of Delta Trust Mortgage Bank. Since he joined Delta Trust Mortgage Bank in April 2000, and over the past 25 years has risen through the ranks, holding strategic leadership positions including: Deputy Manager, Manager, Assistant General Manager, Deputy General Manager, Acting MD/CEO (previously)Executive Director (HR, Admin, Corporate & Legal) – since 2016.
Today, as Acting MD/CEO, he is driving the Bank’s transformation agenda, with a focus on: Maximizing Retirement Savings Account (RSA) processing to position the Bank as a leader in Nigeria Strengthening risk management to ensure only well-secured, high-quality loans are issued Recovering non-performing loans while protecting shareholder value Improving staff culture and mindset to align with global banking standards Expanding the Bank’s national outlook with robust IT and digital banking innovations.
Under his leadership, new contact centers have been established and are already operational in Ughelli and Ozoro, with branches in Agbor and Sapele expected to go live by the end of July. These strategic expansions have not only increased access to mortgage services but have also created new employment opportunities across the state.

Jude Omena Ogbimi , they are working together to take the bank to the next level and align with the vision of the board which is in tandem with the More Agenda of the current administration.
