The Man, Rt. Hon. Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori

By Festus Ahon

“Great oaks,” it is often said, “grow from little acorns.” Though an age-old adage, it remains as true today as when it was first uttered.

In the life and journey of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, this wise saying finds vivid expression.

Born on June 19, 1963, to the family of Chief Samuel Oborevwori of Osubi in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori’s early education began at Alegbo Primary School, Effurun, where he completed his primary education in 1977.

He proceeded to Oghareki Grammar School, Oghareki, for his secondary education, and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, in 2004.

In 2010, he obtained a Master’s degree in the same field from Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.

Beyond his formal academic pursuits, Sheriff Oborevwori—who holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly—has undertaken advanced studies in various prestigious institutions, further preparing him for the demands of leadership.

His educational credentials include: Certificate in Top Executive Leadership Programme, Manchester Business School, UK. Certificate in Legislative Framework for Budget Management, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. Certificate in Legislative Management and Leadership, International Law Institute, Washington D.C., USA. Certificate in Leading Inclusive Development, London School of Economics and Political Science, UK.Certificate in Advanced Leadership Programme, University of Cambridge, UK.

He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (FICMC).

Widely regarded as an astute politician with a unique talent for grassroots mobilization, Sheriff Oborevwori’s political career spans both legislative and executive arms of government. He has also served at both the local and state levels of governance.

His public service journey includes: Councillor/Supervisory Councillor for Works, old Okpe Local Government Council (which then included present-day Udu and Uvwie LGAs), 1996. Special Assistant on Youth Development  2003–2006. Special Adviser to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on Land Security, 2007–2010. State Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme, 2009–2010. Senior Special Assistant on Security to the State Governor, 2012–2014.

Today, as Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori continues to demonstrate the leadership maturity, political savvy, and developmental focus that have defined his journey, which began humbly but has grown into the towering oak of public service.

Yet, that is not all.

Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori served as the member representing Okpe State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) from 2015 to 2019, and was elected Speaker of the Sixth Assembly in 2017 and re-elected Speaker of the Seventh Assembly in 2019, making him the first Deltan to serve as Speaker across two consecutive Assemblies.

He also held key national leadership positions as Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria (2018–2020) and later as Deputy Chairman of the Conference (2020 until his election as Governor).

Associates describe Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as a deeply empathetic and perceptive leader—one whose love for people transcends status, faith, race, and culture.

He is seen as a powerful embodiment of both continuity and change, a bridge builder with a familiar face and a refreshing new vision, clearly outlined in his administration’s MORE Agenda.

The MORE Agenda stands for: Meaningful Development; Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security.

Under Meaningful Development, the Governor is committed to economic growth, environmental sustainability, human capital development, and the delivery of critical infrastructure.

With Opportunities for All, his administration promotes inclusiveness, equity, and fairness, ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged in the development process.

Through Realistic Reforms, he is building on the solid foundation laid by the previous administration under Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is focused on improving governance, enhancing service delivery, and strengthening public sector efficiency.

His priorities include boosting the capacity of the civil service, advancing data-driven planning, and fully automating the state’s accounting and human resource management systems.

On Enhanced Peace and Security, Governor Oborevwori is engaging key stakeholders to foster dialogue and unity, promoting cultural and inter-communal exchanges, empowering youths through productive ventures to reduce restiveness, and encouraging cooperation among security agencies.

He is also strengthening early warning systems to ensure timely and effective conflict resolution.

MORE Agenda: Envisaged Goals and Outcomes

In Africa, it is often said that no one tells a man’s story better than the man himself. In this spirit, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori declares: “With our vision and mission driven by the gear wheel of MORE, I will listen more, do more, and achieve more.” This commitment is clearly articulated in his manifesto.

Today, after two years of dedicated implementation, the MORE Agenda is delivering tangible results across key sectors.

Its outcomes include: Increased job creation, growth in capital inflow, higher Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), expansion in the export of raw and processed agricultural products, strengthening of the state’s economy, enhanced living standards for Deltans and residents, nvironmental rejuvenation and sustainability, upgraded infrastructure across the state, improved educational and healthcare systems and greater social stability, reflected in enhanced security of lives and property.

The MORE Agenda continues to chart a progressive and inclusive path for Delta State, positioning it as a model of sustainable development in Nigeria.

Senator Nwaoboshi will always stand out in Anioma Nation as Best Senator … with evidence of projects records in all wards

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi

Most Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi’s incarceration will not in any way diminish his relevance or acceptance in Anioma nation and Nigeria in general. Come to think of what his opponent would have used to campaign against him, if not for his illegal imprisonment by his evil political enemies?

The Ibusa born political tactician brought to the fore glamour and extraordinary representation in less than one year in office after beginning his improbable quest as a first timer within the minority party, he became Chairman Senate Committee on Niger – Delta Affairs, Including the NDDC, the first minority barrier breaking achievement believed to be impossible by generation of minorities in Nigeria.

There is no doubt whatsoever that in the last seven years of active representation as a senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria before he was incarcerated, Anioma Nation have come to embrace and admire Senator Nwaoboshi’s tactical audacity, strategic acumen and the sure-footed administrative astuteness which sets him apart as a visionary leader, Senator Nwaoboshi can never be compared to the present senator or the past senators in all ramifications if not for his illegal incarceration which gave his opponents a free running day,the present senator wouldn’t have defeated Senator Nwaoboshi in an open election.

it’s also on record that no Anioma Senator has ever broken the record of chairing any juicy Senate Committee as a first timer, it is only the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi a man with robust political experience and wide range of political influence. A man who spread dividends of democracy to the nook and crannies of Delta North within one year in office, Anioma Nation never knew that a serving senator can attract over 140 roads network across Delta North, distribution of 100 Transformers, installation of thousands of solar street lights, supply of over 100,000 chairs and tables to primary and Secondary schools in Delta North, renovation of schools, building of skills acquisition centers, empowerment of women and youths, training of Anioma Youth through NDDC, employment of youths into various Government parastatals, farmers witnessed huge empowerment with improved Yam and Maize Seedlings from Senator Nwaoboshi which has never happened in the history of Anioma nation etc.

In the 9th senate, Senator Nwaoboshi proposed bill for the creation of Anioma State when he was representing Delta North,it passed through the first and second reading and was referred to the committee on State creation. Eminent Anioma leaders were carried along and they appeared before the committee and defended the request, and it was one of the states shortlisted, the records are there for check. Senator Nwaoboshi is not a social media representative and does not make unnecessary noise.

While the tribulations might persist for a while, Senator Nwaoboshi will always stand out in Anioma Nation,“Nwaoboshi will always remain relevant in Delta North politics. He is already a household name and a champion of the Anioma nation. His contribution to the development of the nation cannot be washed away by a non-starter. Today, in Delta politics, Nwaoboshi remains the third tripod known to contemporary Delta politics.” and not a social media senator.

Its on record that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi had alot of evidence of completed projects in every ward in Anioma Nation including Idumuje Ugboko and Idumuje uno, Asaba, Ibusa, Agbor , kwale etc. We challenge our present and past senators to mention projects that they attracted and completed within one year in Anioma Land just like what Nwaoboshi did in his first year. Senator Nwoboshi is not a social media representation.

However, one question which begs for answer is must we always throw away the baby and the bath water, must we sacrifice the standout man focused in ensuring that the Anioma is not used for individual’s whims and caprices because of power play, must we always ruin the nice guy who has plan for a better tomorrow?.

These questions are some of the many which posterity will ask naysayers of Senator Nwaoboshi who continues to stand tall and will continue to do so for a very long time.
Today, he has demonstrated how grounded he was in Delta State and Nigerian Politics by educating Nigerians on some controversial issues and how to get out of the quagmire, most especially his own Delta State zonation(Equity) and the recent rumoured dissolution of Delta North APC Local Government and Ward Chairmen forum by Delta North Senatorial District. In the face of adversity, Sen. Nwaoboshi remained unshaken, believing always that the scales of fairness, equity and justice, though at times tipped, can and will be balanced.

Hon. Henry Mordi to Engr. Emma Eboh : Read APC Constitution before you babble

Our attention has been drawn to a recent online Publication titled: Engr. Eboh Slams Nwaoboshi Over Criticism of Delta North APC Local Government and Ward  Chairmen’s forum Disbarment. It’s indeed laughable to hear that a man like Engineer Emma Eboh can have the audacity to challenge a political Encyclopedia and the Political oracle of Delta Politics in the person of Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

In the tapestry of Fairness, justice and equity, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi stand as both a beacon and a shield, for decades, woven with threads of resilience, courage, and unyielding compassion. As a champion for the silenced, his voice has echoed in political rooms and hearts alike, calling for fairness, equity and the preservation of rights that belong to every political zones.

Through decades of struggles, he has not just fought for fair play to be upheld, but for the very essence of humanity to be recognized. His life’s work is a testament to the unbreakable spirit of those who dare to stand for what is right, even when the road is long and fraught with challenges. In the face of adversity, he remained unshaken, believing always that the scales of fairness, equity and justice, though at times tipped, can and will be balanced.
Today, he has demonstrated how grounded he was in Delta State and Nigerian Politics by educating Nigerians on some controversial issues and how to get out of the quagmire, most especially his own Anioma nation(Delta North) zonation and rumoured dissolution of Delta North APC Local Government and Ward Chairmen forum by Delta North Senatorial District Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka JP.

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has been involved in active politics of Nigeria since 1978, there are very few politicians in this country that can say they are his senior politically. He has always said that in politics, If you want peace you will consider the feelings of others and if you shoot an arrow on a stone, the mouth of that arrow may never be useful again in life.

A deligent readings of Article 13.9 of the APC constitution particularly the Senatorial district committee looks like it will take it’s membership from all the members of the state committee who’s are from the Senatorial district, But the underlining fact of the last purported single action of the  Senatorial chairman Chief Adizue as Sen Peter Nwaoboshi earlier stated was that as he earlier published this action he took against the Local council APC chairmen’s forum was done unilaterally, it was an autocratic decision, there was no meeting of the Senatorial district committee called prior to taken this Draconian decision against the later and the spirit of the APC constitution reference Article 13.9, hence it is null and void.

It’s a sad case for Chief Adizue; unfortunately the celebrations from the Nedites saying that the Local Government chairmen’s forum is dissolved is the celebration of anarchists and infantile anti APC constitutionalists…This is because, any action taken against the provisions of the APC constitution by any of its officials like that unilaterally action taken by Chief Adizue purportedly autocratically dissolving the APC Delta North  LGA Chairmen’s forum is a nulity. Chief Adizue our Senatorial chairman is just clowning; the Engr. Eboh is equally exhibiting his kindergarten status as a neophytes in APC lacking appreciation and in-depth understanding of her constitutional provisions. What a shame.

As it stands the Senatorial District local Government chairmen’s Forum is still existing, their last published decision disassociating themselves from the undemocratic so called ‘endorsement’ of a serving senator stands firmly rooted unchanged.

it is so unfortunate that a neophytes in politics like Engr. Emma Eboh can come openly to say that Sen Nwaoboshi misfired and that he is desperately searching for relevance within the APC Delta North family, what an insult from a neophytes in politics? How can you say
that Most Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi, the oracle of Delta Politics, the Political grand master misfired politically by criticizing the illegal action of the Delta North Senatorial District Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka who went out of his constitutional right to aired that he has dissolved the Delta North APC Local Government and Ward Chairmen forum and Engr. Eboh also accused Sen.Nwaoboshi of being one of the leaders of the Ibori Vanguard that was dissolved, of which Senator Nwaoboshi was neither  leader nor a member of such group.

My question is why must we always throw away the baby and the bath water, must we sacrifice the standout man focused in ensuring that the Anioma is not used for individual’s whims and caprices because of power play and paid falsehood, must we always ruin the nice guy who has plan for a better tomorrow of Anioma Nation?.It’s clear that Nwaoboshi is an authority in politics, people like Engr. Eboh should learn from poltical Encyclopedia, because personality like him cannot be marred by misinformation and social media propaganda, because he speaks with facts and proves.

Nwaoboshi has directed all APC members to ignore any call for the dissolution of the Delta North APC Local Government and Ward Chairmen forum, as it is unconstitutional and motivated by personal gain. The leadership should uphold the party’s constitution and democratic processes, rather than succumbing to the whims of individuals seeking to destabilize the party.

People like Engr. Eboh should know Senator Nwaoboshi will continue to defend the party’s integrity and democracy, and he will not be intimidated by the antics of any group or person(s) reemphasizing that he will always ignite change and create a legacy of fairness and equity that will resonate for generations to come.

By: Hon. Henry Mordi aka Ojokojo

Senator Nwaoboshi to Chief Eluaka: You have no power to Dissolve Delta North APC Local Govt and Ward Chairmen Forum

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has dismissed claims made by the APC  Delta North Senatorial District Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka JP; that he has dissolved Delta North APC Local Government  and Ward Chairmen forum, based on their recent disowning purported endorsement of Senator Ned Nwoko for second term, because they clearly stated that their only valid and collective endorsements are for  President Bola Ahmed  Tinubu, GCFR, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Senator Nwaoboshi emphasized that the APC chairmen forum can only be dissolved constitutionally, and accused Chief Eluaka of operating like a neophytes in politics, what is his fear in dissolving Delta North APC Local Government Chairmen Forum? is it because seven out the nine APC local government chairmen from Delta North refused to endorse a particular candidate? He has no such power because we have Governor’s forum body in Nigeria and APC Progressive Governor’s forum neither President nor APC National Chairman dissolved them. It is too early for any democratic party to endorse a particular candidate at this juncture.
In a statement to the press in Asaba, Senator Nwaoboshi, asserted that Chief Eluaka does not have the authority to dissolve the chairmen forum, adding that his statements have no validity. He noted that Eluaka is now trying to turn himself to a political emperor of Delta North APC .
Senator Nwaoboshi also recalled that Chief Eluaka and his group hurriedly endorsed Senator Ned Nwoko few days ago for second term without due consultation with APC Delta North stake holders and hierarchy.
According to Senator Nwaoboshi, the decision to dissolve both local and Ward chairmen forum by Ogbueshi Eluaka was occasioned by acts of gross misconduct and shameful to our great party. He wondered the kind of impetus that sparked his memory into loose entity of releasing a baseless facts that can create problem for our dear party.
He alleged that Eluaka acted in clear breach of the party’s Constitution and he need to reverse his statement immediately before the situation snowballs into a major political crisis in the party.
“Sadly, in total disregard  and disobedience to the prevailing APC constitution, Chief Eluaka has continued in his acts of crass lawlessness, contemptuous disregard of party rules, abuse of processes, and misuse of executive power, which dangerously portends the extermination of constitutional democracy in the APC Delta North ,” Nwaoboshi explained.
APC is not a personal property of anybody but a party for everyone, So his statement is unacceptable and should be disregarded by APC Delta North and general public, Senator Nwaoboshi urges all APC members to remain united and disciplined .

NDOKWA NATION PROTEST: Delta Govt. addressing Ndokwa Electricity Challenge – Aniagwu

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, while reacting to the recent Light Up Ndokwa Nation protests during a press conference, in Asaba, assured residents that concrete steps are being taken to provide lasting power solutions to the area.

Flanked by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Public Enlightenment (Projects and Policies), Mr Olisa Ifeajika, the Commissioner said for a very long time power generation and distribution had been the exclusive preserve of the federal government.

According to him, “For a very very long time transmission remained the exclusive preserve of the federal government and that meant that even when you generate you will need to upload the power you have generated into the national grid for onward distribution to the other parts of the country.

“But over time there were some form of deregulation, started from the Jonathan administration, which paid to it for some private sector players to come in and that made it possible for certain individuals in the private sector to invest in power generation and distribution.

“Only recently, certain form of liberalization have taken place and to the extent now that states can go into some form of generation and distribution but under certain conditions.

“The Okpai power project is not a state government project, we can only try to make effort to see how we can begin to also benefit and that is ongoing.

“I am also aware the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, who is from the Ndokwa nation, has been mandated by the Governor to begin to look into how we can ensure that our brothers and sisters over there get connected.

“They have had several meetings with them and effort is being made to deal with the challenges between the then Power Holding Company before it moved to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company as to how to settle certain outstanding liabilities so that they can begin a process of getting them reconnected to the grid.

“Because there was this absence of power on the distribution channels along that corridor, it made it possible for some criminals to tamper with the power infrastructure in that corridor which means that it’s now a question of going to provide certain power or energy infrastructure for them to be effectively connected”.

Aniagwu further clarified that Governor Oborevwori administration had done quite a lot for the Ndokwa nation and other parts of the state and appealed for patience while government addressed their concerns.

“In the last EXCO, you saw the approval of the Aboh – Akarai road. That is a very, very challenging area and there is also a bridge along that corridor. That particular project at the end of the day will cost not less than N29 billion to be able to effectively connect our people in the Aboh – Akarai axis to their other brothers still in Ndokwa East.

“Governor Oborevwori is the one who made the move to say that, yes, these people need to be connected and so the government that is doing that has shown a whole lot of love for the people who live in that area.

“You are also aware of the number of roads we are carrying out in Ndokwa nation whether it’s the over 5km Utagba-Uno – Eweshi road, or the over 5km Ndemili-Utagba-Uno road, still over 5km, or the Inam-Abbi road still over 5km or the Obi-Ibabu road, that have been completed.

“There are a number of roads within that corridor. You are also very much aware of the very speedy completion of the Beneku bridge. So that the people have now bid goodbye to the use of pontoon or certain kind of badge to convey vehicles and other items to the inner communities.

“Even when you move to Ukwuani, still in Ndokwa nation, you realize that the Amai-Aragba-Orogun road of over 8 kilometers is ongoing.

“We have concluded the Ofuegbe street in Amai and, of course, the other roads that were constructed along Obiaruku, the headquarters of Ukwuani, to be able to connect a particular alignment from Umutu-Eku road. All that is happening in that Federal Constituency, that is only in the area of roads alone.

“So we want to plead with our brothers and sisters in that corridor to begin to see the many efforts of the Oborevwori administration towards making life much more livable for our people in that area and not to be misled by certain individuals who want to paint pictures that are completely at variance with reality.”

The Commissioner said Governor Oborevwori had done very well in the last two years in terms of infrastructure, human capital development, enhanced business security, and creating a whole lot of platforms for individuals to realize their God-given potentials, particularly as Delta is blessed with good talents, and is oil rich.

“We have continued to take advantage of that in ensuring that services are being provided, and I am happy that as partners, you have accompanied us to inspect a number of these projects across the 25 local government areas, be it in the riverine or in the upland.

“In the next two years, the Oborevwori administration is committed to doing more and that is why you saw that in our last Executive Council meeting, a number of mind-blowing projects were approved for the purpose of delivering more to our people”.

Ibusa Community declares war on kidnappers, lay curses on Criminals amid security crisis

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

The people of Ibusa in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, have resorted to traditional spiritual warfare against kidnappers and other criminal actors terrorizing their once peaceful community.

Over the week, the entire Ibusa Kingdom erupted in a powerful traditional cleansing ritual known as Isu-Ofor,a ceremony aimed at spiritually purging the land and laying irreversible ancestral curse on those behind the surge of kidnappings, armed robbery, and other nefarious acts.

The senior Diopka of Ibusa, became a scene of intense spiritual action as representatives from the ten villages that make up the kingdom;marched in solemn unity, armed not with weapons but with palm sticks,Bibles, charms and chaplets depicting different beliefs. Their mission: to invoke divine justice and lay generational curses on all those disrupting the peace of Ibusa with evil plots and criminal enterprise.

Inside the Ihu-Ani Igbuzo shrine,His Royal Highness,Onowu Paul Ijeh,Senior Diopka of Ibusa, with Ibusa War Lords, High Chief Charles Okonkwo,Odogwu of Ibusa, High Chief Amaechi Nwaeni,Uwolo Ibusa, Omu of Ibusa,Obi Josephine Isioma Nwannabuogwu, titled elders, the highly revered Chief Priest of Ibusa,His Eminence, High Chief Celestine Okafor,Ikwele of Igbuzo, addressed the massive crowd at the Ani Igbuzo, the Ibusa shrine courtyard. In a firm yet mournful tone, he explained the gravity of the ritual, describing it as a last resort in the face of rising insecurity.

“This Isu-Ofor Igbuzo ceremony has become inevitable,” the Chief Priest declared. “It is a sacred spiritual act passed down by our forefathers, invoked only when evil threatens to consume our people. Ibusa is known for peace and hospitality. We are not a land of violence, and we reject these criminal invasions with every fiber of our cultural heritage.”

As the Chief Priest of Ibusa Kingdom, High Chief Celestine Okafor, publicly listed the various atrocities committed; kidnapping, theft, spiritual poisoning, and robbery, the crowd responded by striking the ground and chanting curses, invoking the wrath of the gods and the ancestors upon the perpetrators and their enablers. The ritual was performed at various symbolic spots within the town, before continuing towards the Eke market.

Ibusa War Lords, High Chief Charles Okonkwo,Odogwu of Ibusa, speaking with journalists afterward, expressed deep concern over the spike in abductions and crime, which he said has instilled fear in a town once known as a safe haven for visitors and locals alike. He emphasized that while government efforts are ongoing, community action remains crucial.

“We have not been abandoned by the government, but the spate of insecurity demands more proactive response. Security is the core responsibility of the state, and it must be treated with utmost urgency. This traditional cleansing is our own way of contributing to the fight,” he stated.

Odogwu Okonkwo issued a stern warning: “Anyone involved in these acts of evil, or supporting them in any way, should prepare for the wrath of both man and spirit. The consequences will be devastating and inescapable. This is not just a ceremony, it is a declaration. We will not surrender our land to criminals.”

The Isu-Ofor ritual marks a significant turning point in the fight against crime in Delta State, sending a clear message that the people of Ibusa will defend their land not just with the law, but with the full force of tradition, unity, and ancestral justice.

“The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively.

“So, achievements generally could not necessarily be achievements in terms of material things. There is a way I look at achievement.

“How many people have you impacted in life? How have you changed situations around you? These are areas where one needs to perform well before he is called an achiever. Memories of men, women and children who danced to the love they received, laughter on the faces of those who couldn’t comprehend the fact that someone remembered them, the tears that flowed from the eyes of those who never expected the love extended, the songs of praise and thanksgiving to God from the poor widow. The reality you brought because you were busy thinking of how to make people happy.
