Oborevwori‘s defection to APC, will be a game-changer for the Party

By: Benson Nwoko

A powerful and sinister force has been unleashed on Delta APC. That force is sowing seeds of discord and undertaking a hostile takeover of the party itself. It’s a strong and powerful force operating with deep pockets and dashing boldness.

Delta APC has become the cesspool of enervating political intrigues ,the party has always been engulfed with elite quarrel about the absence of “leader” in APC Delta grinds down to creating a false vacuum for Mr. Right to come in and fill. It is all about denying Ovie Omo-Agege’s leadership and bringing in Mr. Right to take his place as governorship candidate of APC in Delta state. Many among the elite of Delta state are complicit in this conspiracy of ecdysis of Mr. Right molting into the APC.we are watching one political intrigue unravelling in real time in Delta state.

The insult to the APC is not obvious to these black legs of the party in Delta. That they cannot find anyone from among themselves capable of leadership is a shame that they don’t realize it’s portents. It remains a depressing irony that the state chairman of the party listed 41 “who’s who” personalities in APC in Delta state, as contained in his petition to the National Chairman. The fact that they cannot find one person among these men and women is the ultimate disgrace.

The sorry situation in the APC now is that a group in the party is unquestionably working for the opposition ruling party, PDP. They want to impose the governor(Mr Right)and candidate of the PDP on APC. So arising from this treachery, the party is infiltrated by the refuseniks of the PDP and the only hope of PDP remaining in power is to organize a hostile takeover of the governorship candidacy of the APC.

The APC Exco are now working at cross purposes, a faction planting discord against their own party and abandoning commitment to win the 2027 election on their own. The party executive is now browbeating their own party leader instead of taking advantage of a fissuring in the PDP to build a bigger political tent to take in the deluge of defectors trooping into the APC.

The party has to contend now with the conspiracy of its own elite which has been unable to integrate into the party or to mobilize party members for success. Even when popularity has been thrust upon APC by providence as we all watch PDP implode and members defect en masse into the APC, the so called leadership council has been unwilling to seize the moment and ride the popular wave for the good of their party. So this conspiracy is old and deep seated. PDP foresaw the meltdown of their own party and went to work ahead of time to re-hire elite defectors from their party for the sinister job of bending the APC to provide landing space for Oborevwori.
Delta APC elite party members are working to disrupt the party’s normative order. They are entangling themselves in the leadership council fiasco, distracting Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the former Deputy President of the Senate and the party’s 2023 governorship candidate. Omo-Agege has been engaging with the party’s rank and file, opposing the Delta State government’s stance on governance ahead of the 2027 election.

With a party election scheduled later, these leaders would serve the party well by waiting for the congress to settle the matter of a new executive committee and establish a new party structure. They are instead encouraging dissent and not advancing the cause of the party through beneficial actions. They are not advancing the party cause. They are also not mobilizing the party for the purpose of winning elections. They work so committedly to supplant the aspirants of their own party for the candidates of the opposition. Where in the world does that happen? And now, they have sown discord in the State Working Committee of the party and so can no longer bring unity of purpose to the entire organization. How does a party win elections without unity and without rallying round their leader?

Although Governor Oborevwori, the beautiful bride of all the political parties in Delta State has performed beyond expectations as a governor under two years, considering the situation he met on May 29, 2023. He has done a lot in terms of infrastructure, construction of roads that cuts across all 25 local government areas of Delta state. He has also done well in the aspect of human capital development, in the entrepreneurship and training of youths. He has worked magic in the agriculture sector, and this is helped by the fact that his road constructions were not limited to urban areas, it was extended to the riverine communities and these have resulted in all round development of the state.

Oborevwori represents a class of God-fearing and purpose-driven leaders that is why Delta State will continue to experience giant strides in socioeconomic remodeling as well as advancement in all sectors articulated in the MORE Agenda document.

“Our governor is a deep thinker, meticulous leader blessed with uncommon intelligent; a good mixer and strategic team player who would go extra miles any day to advance the course of the State affairs and well-being of Deltans. He cut down the cost of governance to the bearest minimum and virtually ignored luxury and glamour associated with public office and enjoyed in time past by senior government officials and high breed political appointees, all in an effort to save funds in a recessed economy to pay state workers salaries regularly.

“The governor embarked on roads and other infrastructure development, created job and wealth for thousands of Youth who today are rising entrepreneurs, employers of labour and breadwinners under the Youth Agriculture and Skills Training Entrepreneurship Programmes (YAGEP and STEP).

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is a political bridge builder, a visionary leader, accomplished political leader, and had since aligned with President Tinubu’s visionary leadership devoid of political affiliation and all kinds of sentiments and it is foreseeable that APC Delta will at the appropriate time effortlessly adopt Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as sole governorship candidate in 2027 based on his monumental achievements as a pan Deltan, and performing governor of inestimable value.

Governor Oborevwori has been governing the state without borrowing a penny from anywhere in the world, not from banks or financial institutions. Recently, he got the “Best Governor of the Year Award” from ThisDay Arise Media Group, and “Best Governor in Infrastructure Development Award ” from The New Telegraph Newspapers. These Awards were never challenged by any governor or group in Nigeria, meaning that governor Oborevwori worked very hard to earn them.

The cordial relationship between President Bola Tinubu and governor Oborevwori will continue to thrive beyond 2031, and it shall consistently attract additional dividends of democracy to all Deltans and the state, so as to complement the huge socioeconomic and infrastructural development achievements of the governor. The flawless implementation of the MORE Agenda is commendable. As Deltans, we are proud of the remarkable achievements of governor Oborevwori.

A leader of one of Oborevwori’s support groups told a reporter that given that “the PDP has not found wanting in the discharge of the job for which he was elected and has not been accused of mismanaging the funds of the state, we are asking him to go to APC to actualize his ambition for a second term because the people of Delta state want him to continue as their governor.”
A group known as the Concerned Leaders of PDP in Delta State led by Theophilus Ekiyo, Mr. Ochuko Oghenekome, and Mr. Ezekiel Chukwudi also hinted at the governor’s possible departure to APC.

Last month, Hon. Francis Waive, an APC member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and other APC Chieftains have called on governor Sheriff Oborevwori to abandon PDP and run the next election as APC candidate.

They assured the governor that the slot will be reserved for him in APC. He later affirmed to the PDP governor that he will be adopted by the APC to contest the coming governorship election as candidate of APC in Delta state.

It was a grand move by the sinister force to legitimize the hijack of APC and hand the leadership over to Oborevwori, the PDP governor based on his performance as a working governor, was proposed to inherit the growing popularity of APC and retain the governors seat, the next time, as APC governor. So adopting Governor Oborevwori will be a game changer in Delta APC and the political elite quarrel about the absence of “leader” in APC Delta will be a thing of the past. We urge all APC members to remain vigilant and take their political destiny into their hands, and pray for the defection of Governor Oborevwori to APC and run the next election as APC candidate.

Okpanam Youths Block Delta Govt House Over No Electricity

By: our Reporter

Asaba, Delta State — On Thursday morning, angry youths from Okpanam, a community near Asaba in Delta State, came out in large numbers to protest. They were very upset because their area had had no electricity for weeks. To show how serious they were, they blocked the entrance to the Delta State Government House, the office of the Governor.

The youths carried placards with messages like:

  • “Government authority please, help us too”
  • “Enough is enough BEDC Okpanam”
  • “We are in capital territory but living as slaves”
  • “BEDC please, give us light and transformer”

They also sang songs to express their anger and pain.

The protest started early in the morning at Okpanam Roundabout. This caused heavy traffic along Okpanam Road and nearby streets. Many people trying to go to work or school were stuck in traffic for hours.

One of the youth leaders, Chuks Onianwa, said, “We’ve lived without light for more than a month. Our businesses are suffering, students can’t read at night, and nobody is saying anything to us. This is no longer just neglect—it feels like oppression.”

The people of Okpanam say they have begged the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) and local leaders to help them, but nothing has changed. They say the blackout is making life very hard and hurting the local economy.

Even though the protest was big, it was peaceful. Police and other security officers came to the scene to make sure there was no violence.

The Okpanam youths are hoping that the government will finally listen and help bring back electricity to their community.

Delta Family Petitions PSC, IG, Gov Oborevwori, AIG Over Son’s Alleged Unlawful Torture To Death In Police Custody

Says Asaba Residents Now Live In Fear As RRS Turns SARS, Kills Man Trying To Bail Friend To Death…

The family of late Paul Obukohwo from Agbarho community, Ughelli North local government area of Delta state, has petitioned the Police Service Commission, Inspector General of Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police and the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori over the alleged unlawful torture of their son to death in police custody.

Late Paul Obukohwo, aged 24, upcoming artiste, had gone to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), office in Asaba to bail his younger brother’s friend, Mr. Prosper Odili, who was arrested by the team led by Officer Shepherd for putting on a camouflage short while on routine patrol.

The death of late Paul Obukohwo has brought serious fear and tension in the minds of Asaba residents, wondering if Rapid Response Squad, RRS, is not turning or becoming wild like SARS, with the death of late Obukohwo alleged to have been tortured to death in an attempt to bail his younger brother’s friend, Mr. Prosper Odili.

In a petition by Oghenekohwo E. Odioko’s Chambers to the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, alleged that Officer Shephard and his team of Rapid Response Squad, attached to the Delta State Police Command, Asaba, alleged over unlawful detention and killing of late Paul Obukohwo, for no other sin but for daring to ask the RRS team why Mr. Proser Odili was arrested.

According to the petition, one Ejiro Obukohwo, younger brother to late Paul Obukohwo was going to work on 26th of March, 2025 in company of his friend, Prosper Odili, when the RRS unit in their patrol van stopped and ordered Prosper Odili to enter their vehicle because he was on camouflage short.

The petition had also said that the other officers led by Officer Shepherd, having arrested Prosper Odili, took him to his house for search without search warrant. It was at that point that late Paul Obukohwo asked the RRS team the offence Odili committed. They declined comment but rather vowed to deal with late Obukohwo for daring to ask them question.

According to the petition, it was when the RRS team was taking Mr. Prosper Odili on handcuffed since they could not find anything incriminating in his house to their station that they said they are waiting for late Paul Obukohwo to tell them (RRS team) who gave him the effrontery to question them why Mr. Prosper Odili was arrested.

Meanwhile, Mr. Prosper Odili and Ejiro Obukohwo who were eyewitness to the incident condemned the reactions from the Delta State Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe that late Paul Obukohwo as reported in the national dailies that the deceased died of low blood sugar was unacceptable and an untrue story.

The eyewitness said the Delta State Police Publice Relation Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, which out of the five hospitals late Paul Obukohwo was taken to came out with report that the deceased had low blood sugar and why did Officer Shepherd take responsibility of all payments if they were not the ones that inflicted the injuries on him that led to his death.

Speaking further on the issue, the eyewitnesses said, “Prosper Odili was arrested on Wednesday March 26, 2025. Same Wednesday evening, late Paul Obukohwo came to bail me but was later detained and tortured and the torture continued the following day Thursday when they brought him from the cell and was beaten to coma as l over heard him screaming and calling for help.

“The PPRO DSP Edafe should ask the RRS team led by Officer Shepherd why they were at that 2am of Saturday 29th of March, 2025 moving late Paul Obukohwo from one hospital to another to save his life if they had not meted injuries on his hands, legs, his entire body badly swollen and parts of his body already oozing black blood before he finally died.

“Why did Officer Shepherd’s led RRS team, who had earlier demanded for One million for their bail, later One hundred thousand, later refused to ask of bail money for both when he realized that late Paul Obukohwo may not survive the injury meted on him and until his death, was there any statement written by late Paul Obukohwo during his arrest and detention.

“Hence upon this petition, we appeal to the Chairman, Police Service Commission, Inspector General of Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police and the Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to wade into the issue as we demand for a thorough investigation of the circumstances leading to the unlawful arrest and inhuman torture resulting to the death of Mr. Paul Obukohwo whose life had been criminally cut short in his prime at the age of 24 for no justifiable reason whatsoever.”

Stagnation to Salvation: Promoting Graduate Teachers in Primary Schools

By Osita Biose

The stagnation of University graduate teachers in primary schools in Delta State has been a longstanding issue, with these educators remaining stuck at grade level 14.

Despite their tireless efforts, they have not been promoted to grade level 17, unlike their counterparts in other sectors and neighboring states.

The history of teacher recruitment and progression in Delta State has seen chequered upgrades, from Teacher Grade two(TCII ),Associate Certificate in Education (ACE) to Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), with the current termination point at level 14.

However, with the influx of University graduate teachers, it is logical to adjust the termination point to grade level 17 for equity and fairness sake.

This stagnation affects the morale and motivation of University graduate teachers and undermines the primary education sector.

The foundation laid by primary school teachers is crucial to the success of the entire education system. It is, therefore, imperative that we make the primary sector attractive and rewarding for University graduate teachers.

The disparity in salary grades between University graduate teachers and non teaching staff in primary schools and their counterparts in other sectors is notable.

While SUBEB workers, non-academic staff, and local government University graduate workers earn the same as other University graduate staff in the state civil service , University graduate teachers in primary schools remain at grade level 14.

Other states have recognized the importance of promoting University graduate teachers in primary schools to grade level 17. It is puzzling that this disparity persists in Delta State, despite the presence of a “teacher-friendly” governor like Olorogun Sheriff Oborevwori.

We urge Governor Oborevwori to take immediate necessary steps to address this injustice.

The stagnation of University graduate teachers in primary schools is a sine- qua-non. Recognizing the value and contributions of these educators, rewarding them with the grade level commensurate with their qualifications and experience is necessary.

The time for salvation is now. The governor should:upgrade University graduate teachers to grade level 17: This will bring their salary grades in line with their qualifications and experience;*Implement a clear promotion policy.A well-defined promotion policy will ensure that teachers are promoted based on merit and experience.;Provide opportunities for professional development. This will provide opportunities for teachers to upgrade their skills and knowledge.

By taking these steps, the governor can demonstrate his commitment to the welfare of teachers and the development of the education sector in Delta State in line with his campaign promises made and promises kept.

Flooding : Delta Govt Calls For Collective Action Against Natural Disasters

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, made a call on behalf of Delta State Government on Thursday at a press conference in Asaba.  He urged residents of the state, as well as stakeholders and organizations to take collective and proactive measures to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.

Mr. Aniagwu, who was reacting to Wednesday’s torrential rain and flood erosion along Old Lagos – Agbor Road, Boji-Boji Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of the state, called for a collective positive action against natural disasters.

Recognizing the increasing threats posed by flooding, erosion, and other environmental hazards, he emphasized the need for community engagement, preparedness, and sustainable practices to safeguard lives and property.

The Commissioner urged residents to adopt environmentally friendly practices, adhere to safety guidelines, and work together in building a more resilient Delta State.

Aniagwu said: “Yesterday most of you saw and witnessed the very heavy downpour across the state and then the havoc it wreaked on some properties particularly vehicles and motorcycles in the Ika axis.

“I am sure it happened in other places but it wasn’t that devastating and we needed to address it for individuals to know what is expected of them even as government have continued to take actions to mitigate such occurrence.

“We are also happy that in Asaba the rain was also quite heavy but we did not see that level of disturbance. We have before now as a government been able to pay good attention to flood control measures.

“I am happy that all of you are very much aware of it that for majority of the roads we have constructed we ensure that we have dual drains.

“In some instances we have proceeded to build storm drainages. You are also very privy to the fact that this administration have also continued along that trajectory.

“Not long ago you accompanied the governor to inspect the storm drainage across the Ogbeogonogo market which is one of the eight phases of the outcome of a study that was carried out by the previous administration.

“Some of you also accompanied us to area behind the Asaba Specialist Hospital where you also saw a very huge drainage and another storm drainage.

“You are aware of the effort to complete the storm drainage in the Owa-Alero axis and the storm drainage we are building in the Osubi, Okuokoko, Ugolo-Okpe and the Warri axis in addition to the many side drains that we are building along the roads that we are constructing.

“But what we have seen in the course of time as a challenge which we have continued to also emphasize the need for people to become much more responsive and responsible in preventing flood.”

Speaking further, the Commissioner said, “I sympathize with some of our brothers and sisters whose motorcycles or vehicles were either destroyed or taken away by the flood.

“We have giant drains on both sides of that road to accommodate flood water whenever it rains quite heavily.

“Sometimes these things happen.  I am sure in April last year all of you could recall what happened in Dubai of course you cannot see it was because they are not developed or they have not taken pain to control flood.

“You also remember sometime around October last year and November in Spain where splash flood even took away cars and swept away buildings.

“I am mentioning very advanced societies so that those who may want to now begin to take political advantage rather than joining us to seek ways of addressing these issues so that you don’t allow them to paint pictures that are at variance with reality.

“For quite a long time now as an administration, we have emphasized the need for our people to be very environmentally conscious.

“Today you see a number of persons when they come out from their homes they heap refuse inside these drains hoping that the flood water would help to convey such debris to a natural water course.

“By the time you do that, you have also undermined the current capacity of that water channel to the estuaries and tributaries that feeds into these storm drainages.

“These tributaries that come from different shorter streets, smaller roads, have also been seriously undermined by human factors, even when government have spent billions of Naira building and constructing these drains.

“If you move out, you will see across different places how individuals are undermining the carrying capacity of the drains that were built by heaping refuse in these drainages.

“When they do so, like it’s often said, water must find its level. The moment you have undermined the capacity of a particular drain, it means that that water, in an attempt to find its level, will now take through certain courses, other than the ones that have been provided to channel the water.

“That is part of what happened in Agbor yesterday. It is true that the rainfall was quite intense, and such things could happen once in a while, thereby possibly outsmarting the capacity of the available drains.

“But those drains are big enough, over the years they have been able to accommodate water flow, but because a number of the tributaries that feed into these bigger drains have been seriously undermined by the activities of our people.

“Hence you now see the water that would have flown through these smaller drains, that have been channeled to empty into these bigger drains, finding its way to the road itself”.

Today is the birthday of my favorite person in the world, the mirror of beauty ! Indeed a true definition of a GORGEOUS WOMAN. The whole world is celebrating a woman who is a perfect example of beauty and God fearing person. She’s the pillar who makes her family so strong, love so true, joy so real, faith so firm and fear so ordinary. She is the embodiment of cerebral articulation, the epitome of intellection and breathtaking simplicity, the personification of undiluted humanness, the perfect example of leadership symbolism, the paragon of idealism, the soul humanity, the mirror of beauty , the amazon. Indeed, some women are born, some achieve leadership, some have leadership thrust upon them, while only very few have all three embedded in them.
Onyekachi Favour is one of those very few good woman; a true woman,a woman of valour, the bringer of rain. In the gallery of great leaders and great women, she is without doubt, a rare masterpiece.

Onyekachi Favour will celebrate her birthday today and to put the epochal celebration in proper perspective, she attained the midpoint of life at the exciting peak and the proper prime of her mercurial powers where, poised like the bronzed champion, glowing flamboyantly in the golden flame of her decade, prepares herself to capture and conquer arguably, the one ultimate laurel for which her superlative gifts and brilliance clamour to be manifestly celebrated with maximum educational aplomb woven into the matrix of an intrepid homogeneous ubiquity.

A true friend, sister, elegant, gorgeous and unblemished in the magisterial lithe and athleticism of folkloric Queen and heroine, soft-spoken, with clear, unfettered, excellent diction and oratory, her brilliant smile like sparkling sun radiating from crystal clear eyes. Favour is down to earth and corporate-smart, from the various experiences of home-bred grooming, ivy league sojourns in first class royal family and the inspirational influence and unparalleled, unquantifiable tutelage from a respected royal father.

A woman of immense mettle and a completely detribalized human being with a profound depth of character, whose humility, devoid of discrimination, embraces all and sundry, she soars like an eagle and exudes reverence and integrity. A pragmatic woman full of benevolence, she gives hope to the hopeless, and welfare and succor to the poor and needy. To everyone who crosses her path, she is a light.she is a friend to all, a role model to the young, a helper to many and a visionary woman bubbling with the ideals of entrenching a united, peaceful, harmonious vision for her community and the world. Honest, transparent, Dependable, uncomplicated and full of wisdom, Onyekachi Favour can change you effortlessly, with her soft spoken words.
Favour, though even the sun will one day run out of fuel, my love for you shall last forever. I thank God each and every day for giving me a Friend like you. On your birthday, I want to thank you for being the best sister, friend anyone could ever hope for.
