[dropcap]A[/dropcap]head of the 2023 GENERAL election, a member of the IZU-UMUNNE OSHIMILI NORTH TEAM of the All Progressive Congress (APC),Hon.Leo Nkeaka led some chieftains of the party to Ward 7 to consult with critical stakeholders in the Ward.
Among those in the meeting were Oshimili North APC Chairman, Hon. Austine Nnabuife ,APC State Women Leader,Hon. Deaconess Tina Okwudili, former Local Government Chairman, Hon. Louis Ndukwe,APC Asst. Organizing Secretary , Tony Ejiofor, Chief Kizito Ijeh,Hon.Vincent Okowanji, Oshimili North women leader,Ward Chairmen of the party and others.
Hon. Nkeaka said his team was in Ward 7 because Oshimili North has been at the forefront of producing great leaders for Nigeria and has shown commitment to APC as a party over the years.
According to him, the process for the return of the APC to the topmost leadership positions in Delta State has started.

He said the ruling PDP in the state had brought economic downturn, debilitating healthcare system and the “collapse of virtually everything” to Deltans, adding, “therefore, the leadership of the PDP in the state must be challenged in order to make things work right.”

Hon. Leo Nkeaka, said the purpose of their visit was to present DSP Ovie Omo-Agege for Governor ,Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for Senate and Hon. Louis Ndukwe for House of Assembly come 2023 to the Ward 7 APC rank and file for consultation.

He said that Hon. Ndukwe is Young and energetic then and now, I believe he still has the capacity to do it very well more than us. He is ready. I have no doubt that he will represent us very well if he gets the chance,”Nkeaka said.
Grassroots Publishers online gathered that Ibusa Ward 7 is the second ward the team has visited. Nkeaka said with the plethora of challenges facing Oshimili North, there is need for Oshimili North to project Hon. Louis Ndukwe as its 2023 candidate as it would be easier for APC to win the upcoming House Of Assembly  election if Hon. Louis Ndukwe emerge as the Party’s standard bearer.

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t was cheering news for Delta State APC and the House Assembly aspirant ,Hon. Louis Ndukwe ,the  former Executive Chairman Of Oshimili North, As former Past House leader of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Leader of Ward 2 Ebu , Rt. Hon. Kema Egenu throws his weight and support for him as the rightful man to take over come 2023.

Rt. Hon. Kema was responding to request from a delegation of the IZU-UMUNE OSHIMILI NORTH CAMPAIGN AND CONSULTATION TEAM,led by its  Director- General, Hon. Leo Nkeaka who were at Ward 2 Ebu in Oshimili North Local Government Area to seek support for  DSP Ovie Omo-Agege for Governor ,Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for Senate and Hon. Louis Ndukwe for House of Assembly come 2023.
Hon. Kema who did not hide his admiration for Ndukwe did not mince words, but equate Ndukwe to a Self Propelled(SP) Military artillery gun, an abbreviation for two term chairman, whose credentials and personality speaks for him.

According to him, many aspirants have come and will come here. But a young man of his( Ndukwe) status who knows Oshimili North well should lead the Oshimili North local Government at the State Assembly for maximum results.

“Am glad to have found people who have defined who a true Nigerian leader should be. This definition was lacking. Am happy you have identified someone who can do the job. The narrative has to change. I know your candidate very well. I am part of him because we have both worked together.

Hon. Leo Nkeaka

You have zeroed on a good candidate. I call him” General of all Generals because he is a man rooted in the grassroots”. In the military artillery we have a Self Propelled gun called SP with strategic responsibility and functions. That is who he is”.

Kema commended Ndukwe’s patriotic efforts as Two Term Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Council saying,” It was Ndukwe’s efforts that saved the council from imminent crisis that ensued. He is the best to represent us the Delta State House of Assembly come 2023.

Hon. Louis Ndukwe, Hon. Leo Nkeaka and Rt. Hon. Kema Egenu exchanging pleasantries

“But a lot of work must be done to achieve this. You have identified the right person for the leadership job. We need a representative that can give us a voice and utilise our rich diversities to our advantage. We have lost our voice at the Delta State House of Assembly since 1999 and are not able to use it well to our advantage. I believe that the Ndukwe has the capacity to bring back this glory to our local government. He has my prayers, he has my absolute support and that of my entire ward”.

NWAOBOSHI TO DELTA STATE PDP: THE FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi(SPON)

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) Media Team and Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC) have noted yet with concern the tales and ramblings issued by PDP as a press release; which to all discerning members of the public is full of sounds and fury, signifying nothing. It is our belief that Deltans should be spared the trauma of a reminder of the disaster of PDP’s 16 YEARS OF MISADVENTURE in government. It should allow Deltans forgive it for the numerous transgressions and agony it had put Deltans through many years of misrule which their National Chairman had rightly publicly apologised to Nigerians.

The attention of the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi(SPON), representing Delta North Senatorial District, and Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta affairs, has been drawn to a recent, press release signed by the Delta State PDP Publicity Secretary, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza. The press release is most uncharitable, childish, very uncultured, and a most harangue that can only emanate from a demented political vagabond.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Delta State recently inaugurated it’s state executives at it’s Secretariat Asaba the Delta State capital. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi while addressing members of the APC Delta State present, said that APC Delta State will defeat PDP in Delta State come 2023 General elections because there’s no rigging plans that PDP in Delta State will spring up with, that APC will not foil. According to the Senator, the battle has started. It’s total political battle. Not the battle involving the use of guns and explosives, PDP will have themselves to blame should they try to instigate or initiate violence during the elections.

I personally do not see any form of threat or ambiguity in Senator Nwaoboshi’s statement . And I found the attack by PDP through Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza on his press release so disgusting and a confirmation that Delta State PDP is afraid of Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi(SPON) and his defection to APC last year has caused a lot of political brouhaha to the PDP in the state and Nigeria in general.
As a matter of fact, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi who is now the leader of APC in Delta North was only encouraging APC faithful to take the coming election seriously to win more members into APC and to rescue Delta State from the strong grip and unproductive rule of PDP and poor leadership in running the affairs of the state in terms of providing good governance in the state.

Dr Osuoza misfired in his press release because there was nothing said by our Senator to warrant a negative press release judging by the clear statement made by Senator Peter Nwaoboshi- asking the new State APC Exco and members to gear up for the forthcoming General elections as a political battle is figuratively asking APC to get prepared in all forms. Delta State PDP should know that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is not only speaking from his indebt knowledge of PDP’s operational mechanisms but as a political master strategist, Political oracle and a game changer in Delta State Polities.

it becomes petinent to reassert, briefly Nwaoboshi’s very distinguished and incontestable contributions to PDP. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was the states pioneer founding Party Secretary. The Party’s first office at the State capital, Asaba was hosted by Nwaoboshi in his legal chambers from where the Ibori led government was elected; Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi(SPON) defended the Delta State structure of PDP severally against the ‘political ambush’ from others so much that under his instr-instructive eight years tenure-ship as State Chairman PDP, this structure became the vehicle through which Governor Okowa and many others were elected into office; Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) hosted a meeting of Delta North political stakeholders after Governor Okowa ‘cried to him desperately with other Anioma leaders of thought, etc, to assist him secure the 2015 gubernatorial ticket, a feat SPON and others accomplished.

Senator Nwaoboshi cannot be a liability to any political party formation as stated by Dr Osuoza rather he is a plus to APC because he is highly rooted in the grassroots .

Senator Nwaoboshi remains the Apostle of EQUITY and the actualization of Anioma Governor Agenda which the incumbent Governor Okowa is a beneficiary today. And such a skillful and diligent political personality should be an asset to APC. Besides, there is no case of anti party charges press against him while in PDP because he maintains limits.
On the issue of indictment from the NDDC audit report, PDP is not vested with any prosecuting roles. So, they should leave that to the authority in charge to implement the audit report and let’s see.

To set the records straight, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) posits emphatically that there is no criminal corruption case subsisting against him. The only criminal case which they instigated from their stable was the money laundering case which he won last year at a Lagos high court.
Senator Nwaoboshi hereby challenges the Delta PDP to furnish the world with any information linking him with any criminal corruption charge in any court as the Party fraudulently reported Politics in Nigeria has gone dynamic and it will be foolhardy for PDP to believe that they must remain in Delta State Government House beyond 2023.

Most States in Nigeria that where hitherto PDP controlled States are now APC and Delta State cannot be an exception going by political dynamisms.
I wondered how anyone with a conscience would align with the position of the PDP,“It is ludicrous to listen to this kind of vituperation coming from ruling party in the state.APC has said Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)is plotting to “heighten tension, trigger crisis, instigate violence and derail democratic practice and peaceful co-existence in Delta State.”

The party also said that the PDP is plotting to “impose an official reign of terror on the state by trying to use state apparatus of power to obliterate the APC and stifle its constitutionally guaranteed rights in the state.”

it has become clear that the PDP-led Delta state government is bent at ensuring that our APC does not exist in Delta State. We have been made aware that the plot is to obliterate the APC and foist an oppressive one-party system on the state.

“The APC vehemently condemns this act of political brigandage and intolerance by the PDP in Delta state, which is obviously aimed to destabilize the state for their selfish agenda. The PDP is threatened by the soaring popularity of the APC in Delta State for which they are seeking all ways to frustrate the APC ahead of 2023 elections.

“The PDP should however know that such shenanigans cannot cow or stop the APC, which is already enjoying the support and solidarity of the majority of the people of Delta State.

“Our party cautions the PDP, Delta state government and agents of Governor Okowa to steer clear of Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) and APC in the state.

Senator Nwaoboshi’s Camp Fires At Delta PDP, Over Their Baseless Press Release

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (SPON)

A REPLY TO DELTA PDP AND HER ‘THUNDEROUSLY GR0TESQUE, AND WILLFULLY LYING/ FLIP-FLOPPING ALARMIST’ OF A PARROT.

The attention of the Most Distinguished Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi, SPON, representing Delta North District, and Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta was drawn to the rather alarmist, ‘panicky written quackery’ and ‘pussy – footing’ lying piece of trash in the form of a press release credited to the person of the Delta State Publicity Secretary, (PDP) Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, supposedly a Doctorate degree holder, whose present ‘cunningly’ presented effort mocks his qualification.

That a ‘pretentious intellectual’ will shamefully contradict the facts he provided himself in this incredible ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’ master class performance in ‘propagandist misinformation’ technique tells a lot about the extent the confused Party and its ‘alarmist toddler handlers’ will go into the ‘gutters of infamy’ to implant false consciousness on the unsuspecting Delta citizens at large.

One remarkable, yet distressing feature of this ‘thunderously grotesque’ press release that commits the highest form of intellectual fraud betraying decency, integrity, and civility – is that Osuoza contradicted his opening statement with the facts he provided, in this press release, beating about the bush incredibly, hence amazingly leaving the reading public with no doubt that he paradoxically, drips with the dropout of a nefariously unserious ‘tom and Jerry comedian’ masquerading as the image-maker of the politically tormented PDP, Delta State now gruesomely scandalized and ‘debranded’ by the nepotistic and fiscal irresponsibility with ‘ghostly budgetary figures’ of misgovernance unfortunately unleashed on Deltans under the ‘jackboot’ of Governor Okowa’s inglorious misrule. Now they have resorted to lying openly to themselves and deceiving the reading public shamelessly with reckless abandon.

Osuoza, supposedly a Ph.D. holder, was nominated for the post of State Publicity Secretary by Spon as then State Chairman after the 2015 elections. This was after the ‘physical and electoral beating’ an opposition party gave him in one of the units of his ward in his LGA where he held forth for the party as LGA Party Chairman. It smacks of lack of integrity and crass betrayal to display this ‘aberrant ungrateful behavior’ to his master regardless. He is however obviously in a ‘panic mood’ as it should be anytime the ‘sensational ‘lionic – iconic’ Ambassador, Spon sneezes. At such times ‘political midgets’ like Osuoza panics by displaying abominable unbecoming intellectual flaws in amateurish, and abysmal fashion in an attempt to misinform the Delta public and beyond thereby pleasing his new masters.

For instance, in his opening statement he posited:

“The Delta State PDP has lampooned Chief Peter Nwaoboshi, the present Senator representing Delta North Senatorial zone in the National assembly, over his boast to defeat PDP in Delta State by any means possible, including violence, in the next general election, describing it as attention-seeking rabble from a failed politician who knows he has nothing to offer”.

Curiously, in the third paragraph of this incredibly ridiculous and poorly crafted press release he confused the issues by completely contradicting himself when he quoted Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi’s statement, to wit:

“There is no rigging plan that I don’t know. The battle has started. It is total war. Not the war involving the use of firearms; but they will have themselves to blame should they try that”.

Where in this quoted statement did Sen. Nwaoboshi say he will defeat PDP in Delta state by violence as Osuoza posited? Rather, Nwaoboshi asserted as an informed member of the Senate committee on intelligence that if PDP deploys violence ” they will have themselves to blame”.

Is it not obvious that Osuoza willfully misquoted Spon out of context, and proceed in his inglorious perfidy against objective truth shamelessly in an attempt to hide the obvious nature of a Delta PDP suffering from acute decay and decadent paralysis which the facts available to the public clearly points to.

A pointer to Spon’s proactive vision in warning the PDP on the consequences of deploying violence to prosecute the upcoming elections against their political opponents manifested glaringly when a controversial, very prominent member of the PDP, a close associate of the State Governor whose wife is not only a ranking member of the State House of assembly but one of the longest-serving members; Chief Fred Ajudua, was captured on audio allegedly asserting boastfully to the consternation of peace-loving Nigerians that he owns and controls an armory with sophisticated guns and weaponry of at least 30 AK47 – adding allegedly in the audio that the State Governor is aware of this fact. This issue is before the law enforcement agencies and the law court.

Why will the image maker of PDP lie willfully against the person of the Most Distinguished Senator, even as he provided the factual verbatim proof exonerating our Senator from violent proclivity, yet proceed willfully, obnoxiously, vexatiously, and alarming like a ‘Judas Iscariot, double-faced personality’ to accuse our Senator unjustifiably? Is this not a sign of a drowning ‘group of swimmers’ who will hold on to anything just to survive? Is this psychologically not indicative of a Delta PDP suffering from the ‘post traumatic syndrome’ of the heavy loss of our indefatigable political knowledge management guru, Spon to the now renaissance/ resurgent Delta Apc?

This pattern of misinformation pervaded most issues raised by a misguided Osuoza.

Take the issue of his claim in using the metaphor that the okro can never grow more than its owner hence alluding that Spon is a product of PDP and so he will always be put under the PDP. What can be farther from the truth than this hogwash? Here the ‘alarmist Ph.D. toddler’ completely misapplied the concept of human capital usage and application in a new knowledge economy. What a pseudo propagandist.

Is PDP the owner of the cognate skills, brainpower and experiences that Spon has garnered in politics? Did PDP as an institution withhold the political prowess, dexterity, talent, technocratic management and skills which he garnered over the years from the mentorship since the 1970s by greats like the late Sen Nosike Ikpo, Rt.Hon Osadebey, Prof Ambrose Alli, Alhaji Shehu Musa, to mention but a few, hence supposedly can prevent Spon from deploying this huge political asset in his present Party the Great APC?

We then ask, who are these so-called owners of SPON in Delta PDP that will always defeat him or teach him the rudiments of the game? Could it be Governor Okowa who Spon has so far bested in legislative representation viz bills, projects attracted, and committee chairmanship positions at the senate; or is it the State Chairman of PDP, an inexperienced political actor still at the nursery bed of learning the political ropes, or a pitiable Osuoza, the Publicity Secretary who will write a press release and contradict himself with the facts he provided himself in amateurish display?

Spon is a goldfish; a political figure of immense proportion who led other leaders from the front line first as the Pioneer State Secretary of PDP in 1998, then as PDP State Chairman; hence he knows his onions and understands fully the inner workings of the PDP so much that he is in a position to dislodge PDP in the forth – coming elections, moreso with the level of apathy, disenchantments and anguish of Deltans as a result of Governor Okowa’s nepotism.

Finally, no amount of fallacious statements unbecoming from the PDP can save its sinking ship from drowning. Osuoza, the ‘pretentious intellectual’ is advised to render apologies not only to Spon but to Deltans as a whole for willfully deluding them with fallacious alarmist tales of violence purportedly from Spon unbecoming; a fact he provided in this obnoxiously written ‘flip-flopping piece of sodom and Gomorrah’ infantile propagandist invective.

Legislative Aide to Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi

Delta : APC will dethrone PDP in 2023 …As Omo-Agege,Nwaoboshi vow to stop them

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]hief Omeni Sobotie, the APC state chairman Chief Omeni Sobotie, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will dethrone the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State next year. He made the declaration on Wednesday in Asaba at the inauguration of APC executives.

Sobotie noted that the event was a milestone in the battle to “sack the PDP” from the Government House.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Delta State, the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said the party would resist any attempt by the incumbent governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to impose anybody on Deltans.

The party said the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) should stop wasting their time in trying to produce a PDP person that would succeed Okowa.

The senator representing Delta north senatorial district in the National Assembly (NASS), Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, threatened to expose PDP, should the party play up its rigging tactics in 2023.

“Let me assure you that there is nothing they plan that we do not know. There is no rigging spot of PDP that we don’t know. They are sending rams and registering goats across the state now. On election day, I will see how these rams and goats will vote”, he asserted.

He denied the speculation that he is a spy in APC, saying that, “I have no intention of going back to PDP but I have the intention to defeat PDP in 2023 election.

Nwaoboshi, a former PDP Chairman in the state, who was battle ready said categorically that he would defeat the PDP in 2023, maintaining that the rumour that he would return to PDP can only remain a rumour. He said he can never go back to his vomit, stressing that he can never go back to the PDP.

His words,  “The battle for us now is to defeat PDP and chase them out of Delta State. I do not have intention of going back to PDP, but I have intention of defeating PDP in Delta State. The battle line has been drawn; we will not use arms but if need be, then we don’t have a choice.

“Let me tell you that this battle is for the next generation of politicians to benefit. I have played my part as a politician; I cannot be a Commissioner again, I cannot be an Adviser again, I cannot hold any political appointment or position again in Delta. However,  I can be proud to be known as a friend of the Governor.

“That is why I am supporting Senator Ovie Omo-Agege,  because he is the next Governor of Delta State. This is a man who has played a high wired politics as Secretary to Delta State Government and now the number five (5) citizen in the country. What else are we looking for in a Governor? He has it all and he knows it all.

“So my fellow party men, don’t let them deceive you, there is no secret of PDP we don’t know. There is no rigging plan in Delta State that I don’t know about or that Omo-Agege does not know. We are equal to them and this is just the end of the road for them. And that is why I congratulate my brother and friend, Chief Omeni Sobotie, a juggernaut of no mean repute, who has a task to guide us to victory in 2023”, Nwaoboshi affirmed.

The Deputy Senate President (DSP) Ovie Omo-Agege, also  disclosed that the 2023 election would mark the exit of Okowa and his party, reiterating that Okowa, should stop scheming to produce who takes over from him.

“The people of Delta state will determine who their next Governor will be. We have all the tricks of those in PDP. We are privy to it. Our goal is to defeat Okowa and anyone he attempts to impose on Delta.

“Okowa said he wants to go back to the Senate but God has withdrawn the seat of the Delta North from PDP to APC.

“We must heat the ground running. I know the battle you went through to get to this position, however, you must get ready to still fight to keep your victory by extending your hand of fellowship to others who didn’t support your emergence. We must put our differences aside to bring everybody on board, because the contest has come and gone, and this is new beginning.

“Our goal is to defeat Governor Okowa and whoever he is planning to impose on Delta State. Let me tell you that it is the people of Delta State that will determine who their next Governor must be.

“It is a battle this time, we must chase them out of Government House in 2023. There is no trick in the book they are privy to that we are not also privy to. I congratulate those who went to the PDP as a result of that kangaroo rally they did recently. Those are Achans as referred to in the bible and we are glad to get rid of them. However,  if they later repent and decide to come back, we will still forgive them and work with them”, Omo-Agege posited.

He tasked the party chairman to see those who contested with him as brothers and sisters who equally have the right to contest, calling on him to extend his olive branch to them just as he said those who decamped should be welcomed back when they “repents and returns to the party”.

On his part, the state chairman, Chief Omeni Sobotie stated that he would deploy all available political mechanism at his disposal to gain victory for APC in the state.

He urged party supporters to be committed and go back to their wards to campaign as APC would produce the next President of Nigeria, Governor in Delta State and fill up other elective positions in the state in 2023.

He assured party faithful that indeed peace has returned to APC in Delta State,  promising to leverage on the goodwill and mandate of his victory to reconcile every member for the task ahead.

Sen. Nwaoboshi empowers 500 constituents with motorcycles, sewing machine, cash and other items

By:Ike Philip Abiagom

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Senator representing the good people of Delta North Senatorial District and the Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs , Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON), has continued to demonstrate his love and passion for the people, which to him is the basis for representative democracy at any level.

His belief and commitment to the people is exceptional, inspiring and assuring; bringing to bear the age-long definition of democracy as the government of the people for the people in the social contract he entered with his people.

Senator Nwaoboshi has given out 150 motorcycles, 200 sewing machine, 200 Hair dryers,2,000 bags of rice and cash to youths and women leaders of his constituency to help them engage in independent lucrative enterprises.

Speaking at the formal presentation of the items at, Asaba, Delta State, Nwaoboshi who represents Delta North Senatorial District at the red chambers said that the idea of the empowerment programme was to make them small business owners who will eventually help in creating jobs and reducing poverty in their immediate communities.

He noted that empowering the people was a critical element in his effort to improve on their standard of living as well as to fight against poverty, restiveness and associated criminal tendencies.

Senator Nwaoboshi recounted the following among his achievements in office:
*Bill for the establishment of Federal University in Aboh awaiting Presidential assent.*
*Waiting to lead concurrence at Senate of the Bill for establishment of Federal University of Technology, Asaba.*
*Roads construction across Delta North*

*Provision of social amenities*

*Job creation*

*Support for Delta Northerners in Government or seeking approval of Senate

“With all sense of responsibility, Senator Nwaoboshi is committed to empowering, developing and uplifting the living standard of our people through robust representation.  A total of 500 constituents drawn from various wards across the nine local government areas in Delta North Senatorial District benefited from the gesture.

While flagging-off the distribution,Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka,Delta North APC Senatorial Chairman hailed Nwaoboshi for his various interventions in the progress of his Constituency, Delta State and Nigeria at large and urged other elected representatives to borrow a leaf from the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON).
“Looking at the so many things that are to be presented to the people, I believe can encourage our people in the Constituency to work harder for our party, the All Action Congress (APC) and can engender hope amongst our people and I believe that it is good for politics and advancement of politics not only in Delta North but across Delta State”.

ACNPN Appeal to Government to Re-open Ogume Grammar School

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]n October 14, 2021, there was the breakdown of law at Ogume Grammar School, Ogume. Students resisted the teacher’s disciplinary action prompting the school authority to invite the vigilant group to aid them. One Miss Gift Iwezuife, a JSS 3 student got drowned in a pool of water in the outskirt while escaping from being disciplined.

Her death sparked off protest and attack. Some miscreants who were not students of the school took advantage of the situation, looted and burnt down the valuables in the school. The ICT Centre worth over N100million, Principal’s private car, Teacher’s motorcycle, etc were not spared. They were burnt to ashes. The Principal of the school Ighomuaye Anene Rita escaped by the whiskers after receiving the beating of her life.

Irked by this development, the state government made an order to close down the school. The same government ordered schools within and outside Ogume not to offer admission to any student from Ogume Grammar School. This was to serve as a deterrent. It was indeed a welcome development.

First-term had come and gone. Here is the second term and no resumption at sight. Most parents have taken their wards to nearby schools. The schools, against Government order, have offered them admission.
The Community Development Committee, CDC of Ogbe Ogume led by Mr. David Agadi, Old Students Association of the school, and some spirited individuals have made concerted efforts to ensure that the school is reopened but to no avail. The arrest of some of the suspects can be seen as a step in the right direction.

Association of Community Newspaper Publishers(ACNPN) wishes to lend its voice in appealing to the government to reopen the school. Most of the students have since learned their lessons. The continued closure of the school may lead to an increase in many social vices- crime, rape, unwanted pregnancies, etc and the larger society will suffer it in the long run.
Let the government reopen the school and students made to sign an undertaking.
