The Okowa catastrophe is endless and it is a shame.!!!!

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t is said that “he who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day”. May be, but not in this case and not a General. The news of Governor Okowa’s “escape” from protesting Pensioners/Retirees suggests that there is something to hide.

Could he have stayed back to face the retirees? Could he have taken a few minutes to talk to them and make the usual promises, even if he had no intentions to fulfil them – a political talk, you may want to call it?
No! He chose to “escape” through a back door. !!!
Now, it is certain that He Okowa has no plans for these senior citizens who have meritoriously served the state.
Above all, is there something about the pension fund that he is hiding from the public? Something he is avoiding???.
*It is indeed tragic!!*
There is no reason to play politics with a matter such as the benefits of retirees, and what is dire about this, is that we are talking of contributory pensions.
Our governor is degenerating in humane matters as we can see. If not, how do we explain the ruthless abandonment of retirees, in the face of abundant inflows of funds both in federal allocations, internally generated revenues and the huge loans that we have experienced since the coming of the Okowa administration in 2015. Not with the imprudent and reckless political appointments that we have seen in the over seven years of this administration. These appointments are as spurious as the loafing beneficiaries with most of them idling around with no real portfolios – mere political patronage.
Yet, pensioners who have served upward of 30 years are unable to afford daily meals.
It is indescribable and indeed callous to know that a state like Delta State ,would pretend to think that retirees can handle the harshness and sufferings that they are now subjected to, when we do know that they have passed their productive lives.
What we have seen in recent times is that retirees live in neglect and die in squalor and if the accrued pensions are ever paid, they are not alive to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Pension is not inheritance to bequeath surviving children but a welfare package meant for the sustenance of a retiree and while they are still alive.
I must note that this diabolic tendency of our governor is imprinted in all spheres. He turns his back to anything people-oriented. For instance, he “sold” Delta Line, to the chagrin of the common commuters – we all recall the famous “Omelebele” bus that traversed our villages and provided cheap transportation for our people. That is history now in the hands of the new managers/Owners.
Recently, we were told to stop drinking beer so we can afford school fees for our wards, yet Okowa’s buddies feast everyday on priced, choice drinks, preposterously on our budget. The catastrophe is endless and it is a shame.
This has been our plight as Deltans under Okowa, and we must put an end to it. !!!
We can determine our future now as 2023 fast approaches!!!
We can boot-out evil and shut the door against them. We can vote for a better future and end this error that has burnt us in this 7 years of mismanagement in Delta State!

Buhari Issues Warning To APC Party Leaders To Stop Backstabbing Colleagues

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]resident Muhammadu Buhari warns the leaders (and membership) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to desist from name-calling and backstabbing ahead of the oncoming March 26 Convention, remain steadfast and maintain its unity if the party is to continue in the path of victory and its dominance at all levels throughout the country.

The ruling party in Nigeria has been factionalized with Yobe State Governor, Mai Buni insisting he remains the National Chairman.

His Niger counterpart, Sani Bello now heads the APC, a development that has split governors, lawmakers, other chieftains and members.

Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo, had also claimed that some of his colleagues were working against the convention, and described them as “Yahoo Yahoo” governors.

Buhari  told the APC warring factions to remain steadfast and maintain unity if the party is to continue in the path of victory and dominance throughout the country.

The president’s warning was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman.

“President Buhari asks the members to look at the once-powerful, ‘main opposition” Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) now enfeebled and adrift and learn lessons in disunity, mismanagement and corruption. They failed in 16 years in power and a failure as opposition.

“Yes, we are entitled to our own share of dissent and intra-party discord. These are common in all parties, left and right all over the world.

“But parties splintered by competing egos destine themselves to the worst possible fate.

“As the country prepares for the long run up to the 2023 presidential election, we all expect a robust debate on the issues that matter and what is going in the APC should be a reflection of this, not the infighting we are seeing. There must be no more distractions ahead of the convention to choose new leaders.”
He recalled that the APC started out with a confidence of victory and the party today enjoys that confidence in nearly two-thirds of our 36 states.

Yet, he noted, this is a party that has been in existence barely for eight years, becoming the dominant party because it has thrown open its doors to defectors from other parties, big and small.
This alone, addition to the fact “we didn’t start on the note of arrogance of power, nor see government as a vehicle for self-
aggrandizement, to be held at all costs, but a vehicle to bring development to all without discrimination-political, ethnic or regional to our dear country made this success
possible.”

The party, he went on to note, is proud of the fact that in its short period of existence, it has won two general elections decisively and despite losing a few states in 2019, it steadfastly expanded its pan-Nigerian outlook with significant defections of the opposition Governors and parliamentarians into its fold.

“Given all that is at a stake, we can expect contests into offices as we are now faced with to be heated although candidates and their promoters for party offices are not so much debating policy differences but differences of management, personality, character, and suitability for the most important leadership roles in our country and therefore the continent”.

“It is equally clear that over the last week or so, the internal management affairs of the APC have been afforded generous media coverage – over and above its importance to the voters of Nigeria.
“It is important to ask what benefits the poor are getting during the period of intense negative coverage.

“It is therefore important for the media to put such matters into perspective. No one is debating policy differences here. That is for the general election. None of the declared aspirants and any of those that may step forward will change because of who may be in the party in the chairman’s seat. It is essentially the same party.
“Of course the media are welcome to comment on the content of the character of the potential APC candidates; discuss their suitability for leadership; scrutinize their offer to the membership. But to focus on the routine internal divisions and magnify them into what they have become today is a waste of everyone’s time, amounting to no more than a discussion over seating arrangements.

“This is not what Nigerians talk of in their communities. They have an inclination only for things that matter.”

Delta Assembly 2023 : Rister Izedunor’s declaration will spell doom for all his rivals

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

Prince Rister Izedunor

[dropcap]“T[/dropcap]he true worth of a man is  the way he treats people who are absolutely in need. If you care about people in need, you are actually making a contribution to the development of the nation. We need to give life back to the people; democracy is important in governance. We need to see how we can use the available resources for everybody; create opportunities for all and care, especially for those who are truly in need. The gap between the rich and the poor should be bridged. Those of us blessed with material resources need to share with others. We must strike a balance with our resources.” This is the Philosophy of Prince Rister Izedunor

If humans are truly fair to what comes from their mouths about Prince Rister Izedunor’s humanitarian gesture, the hope of those trying to fake reality to get support in fulfilling their political aspirations, are definitely sealed up ahead of the 2023 elections.
On the other hand, if winning elections are based on passion to curb hunger, thirst and practical demonstration of love for development, love for others and doing good with one’s hard earn resources, Prince Rister Izedunor simply has no rival within and outside as his humanitarian lifestyle spells doom for all his rivals’ desperation.
Perhaps, a man’s hunger and thirst for making a difference or adding value to the lives of people, is not largely measured on the basis of his privileges and access to power, control, possession or linkage to governmental finance base, but his actions with the little he has.

The later is typical of Prince Rister Izedunor being a fanatic of the dictum, “it pays to be good”. Before stepping into the Aniocha South  House of Assembly contest for 2023, it was upon the plea and protest of  his ( Aniocha South) Constituency , a careful analysis of his lifestyle, evidently shows that, doing good and being good are natural qualities that have kept him on constant check in his inter relationship which internally propels him to ensuring that smiles are put in the faces and hearts of those around as well as those who come in contact with him. This no doubt, earned him respect and love of the people as a man after their heart.

Beside his push by the people to join the 2023 Aniocha South  House of Assembly contest and rescue the good people of Aniocha South from bad representation, the name Prince Rister Izedunor rings bell in the light of well doing, hence, to very many, “Prince Rister Izedunor” is synonymous with kindness, humility and good doing. To others, he is a symbol of love, affection and kindness. From the growing mass support he enjoys from the day of his call by his people, his acceptance and up till now, its a conviction that, no man forces himself to be loved or wins his way into the hearts of men.

Following his unconditional free -handedness, cheerful giving, care and concern for development dating to his days of little beginning until now, widows, the aged and Christians across the constituency have in addition, nourished his House of Assembly quest with praise and prayers to succeed and to expand his scope of love through effective and purposeful representation.
Prince Rister Izedunor is a blessing and gift to Aniocha South and the best choice of representative for the constituency at a time like this.

Carry go our Prince …

Aniocha North APC: Chinye Suspended Over Anti-Party Activities, Gross Misconduct

[dropcap]A[/dropcap]ll Progressive Congress (APC) ,Aniocha North chapter , has passed a vote of no confidence on its LGA Chairman, Hon. Matthew Chinye leading to his indefinite suspension from the party.

The suspension of the embattled party Chairman was contained in a letter titled, ‘Notification of Indefinite Suspension’, dated 15th February, 2022, and signed by 20 members of the party’s executive in the LGA, which was addressed to the Delta State APC Chairman, Olorogun Omeni Sobotie.

According to the letter made available to Journalists in Asaba, by the LGA Party Publicity Secretary, Hon. Morrence Emefiene, “the suspension of Hon. Matthew Chinye which takes effect from Monday, February 14, 2022, became necessary for reasons related to Gross Misconduct, Anti-Party Activities and several Breaches of the provisions of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Constitution which had adversely affected the growth and development of the party in the Party in the Local Government Chapter.

“Sir, While a 7 (seven) man Committee has been set up to examine the various allegations leveled against Hon. Matthew Chinye in line with APC’s Constitution, the Executive Committee of the Party in Aniocha North LGA resolved in the said meeting, to place Hon. Matthew Chinye on an indefinite suspension pending the submission of the report of the 7 (seven) Man fact finding/disciplinary committee set up by the Party with respect to the said allegations leveled against him”.

The letter also disclosed that the Party’s Vice-Chairman in the LGA, Chief Mrs. Mary Ebeigbe, has been appointed as the acting Chairman pending the final resolution of the suspension of Hon. Chinye.

“We therefore wish to bring this development to your attention as well as solicit for the cooperation of your office in this effort to save the party in Aniocha North LGA from total destruction and collapse”. The letter added.

In a chat with an obviously disenchanted APC Executive member in the Local Government Area (name withheld), he expressed his disappointment with the suspended chairman saying; “Matthew Chinye sidelined critical EXCO Members and leaders of our party in the running of the affairs of our party in Aniocha North.

“He created another group for himself and runs the party as his personal entity. The situation displeased majority of APC members and leaders who felt that the chairman’s action and attitude is unreasonable and unfair to the generality of members.”

Sources also hinted that effort by an APC leader, and former State legal adviser of the party, Barrister Cyprian Ashibuogwu who called a meeting where he tried to prevail against the resolution suspending the embattled chairman was rebuffed.

Many faulted Ashibuogwu’s moves for being devoid of the statutory stipulations of the APC constitution, and insisted that the action suspending Mr. Matthew Chinye as LGA chairman was legal as it was in line with the stipulations of the party’s constitution.

The sources revealed that Party leaders in the area such as Dr. Iyke Odikpo, Chief Jerry Nkeweshe, Chief Bazim Bioseh, Chief Mrs Mary Ebeigbe, Chief Bolum Okwuchi amongst others were not at the meeting called by Barrister Ashibuogu and said he do not have the locus and the mandate of the Leaders to discredit the suspension of the embattled Party Chairman in the area.
