[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Senator representing the good people of Delta North Senatorial District, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) has said he would continue to support farmers to ensure his constituents achieve food security.

Senator Nwaoboshi who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs distributed 120,000 Yam Seedlings and 2,500 bags of improved maize seed varieties to farmers across the nine Local Government Areas to boost farming activities in his senatorial district.

Flagging off the distribution ceremony at Asaba, the State Director, Federal Department of Agriculture (FDA) Mr John Onovroke commended the senator for his selfless and relentless efforts geared towards promoting women and youths attain economic self-reliance in the society.

Onovroke expressed optimism that such a Humanitarian gesture would go a long way and would lead to jobs creation and other services for the well being of the Anioma people.

He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to be passionate about inputting the items into proper use and see it as an opportunity to climb an enviable level of prosperity.Onovroke called for a robust synergy between the farmers and the ministry to ensure the goal is achieved.

The distribution was done by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi (SPON) Team.

Nwaoboshi who was represented by his Special Aide, Hon. Henry Mordi (Ojokojo), said the distribution of farm inputs is part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s commitment to cushion the effect of food security in Nigeria and the essence of the programme was also to ensure there were enough yams in Delta North for local consumption.

In his address, Senator Nwaoboshi said, this was not the first time he was presenting such a gesture, but it is an annual tradition, in addition to several people-oriented projects such as the construction of Roads,classroom blocks, clinics, drilling of boreholes, installation of solar-powered streets light,empowerments among other constituency projects, in line with his electioneering campaign promises.He however urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the opportunity in order to become self-reliant and sustained their businesses and improve their livelihood.

The Beneficiaries are from Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili South, Oshimili North and Ukwuani local government areas of Delta State.
In their separate goodwill messages, the representatives of the Nine local government Areas that makes up Delta North commended Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) for the empowerment initiatives, which according to them would go a long way in alleviating the economic hardship amongst their subjects.

Also speaking on behalf of the benefiting local governments, the APC Chairman of Oshimili North local government, Hon. Austine Nnabuife aka OJEAGBUE thanked the senator for the timely intervention and assures judicious distribution of the items to the beneficiaries.
