In a remarkable step toward transforming lives and strengthening community welfare, the Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation has officially inaugurated a powerful and credible committee to oversee its highly anticipated December Empowerment Programme in Igbuzo.

The newly constituted committee brings together some of the most respected leaders in the town, including:

Their deep knowledge of the community, its youths, and the various levels of need is expected to guide a transparent and merit-based selection process.

After nominations, the Igbuzo Community Development Union (ICDU) President General, Chief Victor Uchuno will officially review and approve the final list to maintain institutional oversight and accountability.

In addition, Comrade Vincent Olimmah, the Igbuzo Youths Council, Secretary-General, has been specifically mandated to visit the markets and carefully identify vulnerable market women who genuinely need support to expand or stabilize their businesses. The empowerment programme, considered one of the most robust community initiatives in recent years, will cover multiple sectors and beneficiaries. The committee has been assigned the following mandates:

This large-scale programme is widely seen as a thoughtful and timely intervention that will brighten the Yuletide season for families across Igbuzo. With the rising cost of living and economic pressures, the gesture stands out as a beacon of hope—aimed at reducing the financial burden on households, boosting small businesses, and promoting community development.

Community stakeholders have described the move as “a beautiful and commendable development”, applauding the Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation for its commitment to human capital development and social welfare.

As December approaches, expectations continue to rise, and many believe that this empowerment will mark a turning point for countless Igbuzo residents, especially the hardworking youths, vulnerable households, and market women who form the backbone of the community’s economic activity.

The Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation has once again demonstrated that true leadership is measured not by words but by visible, people-centered actions.

IGBUZO TOWN URGE DELTA GOVT TO OPEN OGBOLI-FARM ROAD LINK TO ASABA

By : Ike Philip Abiagom

IGBUZO, Delta State — Residents of Igbuzo (Ibusa) are making a heartfelt appeal to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and their representative in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Esenwah, to prioritize the construction of a crucial “link road” from Ogboli Farm Road to Asaba. Community leaders and citizens argue that building this road will not only transform Igbuzo but also strengthen connectivity between Igbuzo and Asaba — the Delta State capital.

Igbuzo is currently linked to Asaba by only one major road, which often becomes congested and limits the flow of people and goods. According to town elders and youth representatives, establishing a second route via Ogboli Farm would significantly enhance mobility, encouraging commerce, social interaction, and regional integration.

“We are not just asking for a road — we are asking for a pathway to development,” said one community leader. “If that link is built, Igbuzo will no longer feel like a remote town; it will become part of the capital territory’s growth story.”

Community advocates argue that the proposed road is not just for local benefit. They believe it fits squarely within Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. agenda — the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, economic inclusion, and urban renewal.

In recent months, the state government has approved several road projects in the capital territory, signalling a renewed focus on connectivity and access.  For example, the Delta State Executive Council approved multi-billion naira road projects aimed at improving urban and rural linkages.

Moreover, Governor Oborevwori has earmarked N50 billion in the 2025 budget for road infrastructure across all 25 Local Government Areas.  Community members say a portion of this fund should be allocated to the Ogboli-Asaba link road.

If constructed, the Ogboli Farm–Asaba road could unlock multiple benefits:
Improved access would encourage small businesses, farm produce markets, and trade between Igbuzo and Asaba.

A better road would make travel easier for students, workers, and families, strengthening the bond between communities.

As accessibility improves, land and property in Igbuzo would become more attractive for development.

Linking Igbuzo more closely to Asaba can boost its status within the Delta State Capital Territory.

Igbuzo chiefs, opinion leaders, and youth groups are organizing to formally petition both the Governor and the Delta State House of Assembly. Their aim: to have the road project included in the 2026 budget. Some believe that Hon. Esenwah, the local assembly member, has the influence and duty to champion this cause on behalf of his constituents.

A youth group in Igbuzo spoke passionately about the transformational potential of such a road: “When we talk about development, this road is not a luxury. It’s a necessity. It’s our bridge to the future.”

The timing of the appeal is strategic. Delta State’s urban renewal plans for Asaba — approved earlier this year — already include several major road projects, particularly within the capital territory.  With political will and community pressure, the Ogboli-Farm link may find its way onto the execution list.

As one Igbuzo elder put it: “We want to be part of the capital’s story, not on the margin of it.”

Igbuzo citizens are calling for a public town-hall or hearing with the Governor’s office and the State Assembly to present their case.

They want a feasibility study and cost assessment for the link road to be commissioned — in partnership with the Delta State Ministry of Works.

They will mobilize local support and launch a formal petition so that the project is formally recognized and budgeted in the next fiscal cycle.

Real Estate Executive, Otoma Stanley, Faults Political Wrangling in Oshimili North, Says Senator Nwaoboshi Remains the Supreme leader

By: Ike Philip Abiagom
The Chairman and Managing Director of One Needs Properties Ltd, Otoma Stanley Chukwudumebi, has expressed deep disappointment over what he described as unnecessary political posturing by some overzealous politicians in Oshimili North Local Government Area who, according to him, are attempting to challenge the long-established leadership structure in the area.

Speaking over the weekend, the real estate entrepreneur and community stakeholder said it was surprising that despite clear political developments in recent months, a few individuals still “harbour illusions” about the leadership position of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, whom he referred to as the undisputed political leader of Oshimili North.

Otoma noted that the political realignments that saw a massive shift of key actors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Congress (APC) should leave no one in doubt about the current political direction of the local government.

“The total collapse of the PDP structure into the APC is not a joke. It is a reality everyone can see,” he said.
“We have only one leader in Oshimili North, and that leader is Senator Peter Nwaoboshi. Anyone pretending otherwise is simply dreaming.”
He urged party faithful and emerging political actors to respect the existing hierarchy and focus on strengthening the party rather than engaging in divisive actions that could undermine collective progress.

According to him, stability and unity remain key to consolidating the gains already made by the APC in the area, stressing that Senator Nwaoboshi’s leadership has been instrumental to the political growth and strategic positioning of Oshimili North in recent years.

Otoma called on all stakeholders to align with the leadership structure, work in harmony, and place the interest of the constituency above personal ambitions.

Stakeholders Reaffirm Senator Peter Nwaoboshi as Dominant Political Force in Oshimili North

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi

Prominent political stakeholders in Oshimili North Local Government Area have restated their recognition of Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi as the leading political figure in the area, describing him as a mentor, foundational pillar, and the most experienced voice in the local political landscape.

Senator Nwaoboshi’s leadership is not accidental; it is the product of decades of political experience, deep grassroots connection, and an unmatched understanding of the dynamics of power and development. His voice continues to shape conversations, decisions, and political alignments across Anioma and beyond.

According to party leaders and long-standing political associates, Senator Nwaoboshi’s influence is rooted in years of political investment, grassroots mobilisation, and strategic leadership that have shaped the emergence of many politicians currently active in the LGA. They noted that more than 80 percent of today’s political actors in Oshimili North trace their political growth, directly or indirectly, to structures laid down by the Senator Nwaoboshi.

Stakeholders stressed that Nwaoboshi remains one of the strongest power blocs in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, a role that continues to earn him recognition from both the party hierarchy and the state government. They pointed to his longstanding relationship with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as evidence of his continued relevance in state politics.

Speaking on recent internal disagreements within the APC, some party elders advised caution among what they described as “overzealous” actors attempting to challenge established leadership. According to them, political stability in Oshimili North has historically thrived under respect for hierarchy, experience, and mentorship—values they say Nwaoboshi represents.

“Senator Nwaoboshi is not just a political leader; he is the architect of modern political engagement in Oshimili North,” a senior party member said. “Those who understand our history know that he has nurtured leaders, built structures, and paid his dues at every level. It is important that younger politicians recognise this legacy and align with it for the good of the constituency.”

In Delta State today, if five great political leaders are mentioned, the name Senator Peter Nwaoboshi must and will always be among them. His place in the political hierarchy is not up for debate—it is a product of history, consistency, and the love of his people.

Senator Nwaoboshi remains the beacon of Oshimili North and a steadfast guardian of Anioma’s political identity. His legacy continues, and his relevance remains unshaken. They called on Self Serving Politicians from Oshimili North to retrace their steps, close ranks, and show respect to leadership in order to sustain political relevance and progress.

Tinubu Pulls the Plug on Police, Handover Protection of VIPs to NSCDC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the withdrawal of police officers currently providing security for Very Important Persons in the country.

Henceforth, police authorities will deploy them to concentrate on their core police duties.

The presidential directive was issued at the security meeting President Tinubu held on Sunday with the police, Air Force, army chiefs and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS, in Abuja.

According to the Presidential directive, VIPs who want police protection will now request well-armed personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

Many parts of Nigeria, especially remote areas, have few policemen at the stations, thus making the task of protecting and defending the people difficult.

In view of the current security challenges facing the country, President Tinubu is desirous of boosting police presence in all communities.

Already, President Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 30,000 additional police officers. The federal government is also collaborating with the states to upgrade police training facilities nationwide.

Sunday’s meeting was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Waidi Shaibu; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke; the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Tosin Adeola Ajayi.

Rascality and Power Tussle in Oshimili North APC must stop as Stakeholders Demand Respect for Constitution

Oshimili North, Delta State—A growing wave of discontent is sweeping through the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshimili North Local Government Area, as concerned party stakeholders have raised alarm over what they describe as rising “rascality” and a breakdown of internal discipline within the party’s local structure.

At the centre of the controversy is an alleged violation of the APC constitution by some officials of the local government executive council who, according to party members, have been convening ward meetings without the knowledge or authorization of the duly elected APC LGA Chairman, Hon. Austin Nnabuife.

Party leaders argue that the APC constitution does not vest authority in the LGA Executive Chairman or the Secretary to preside over, summon or coordinate party meetings—functions they insist are strictly within the jurisdiction of the party chairman and his elected executive committee.

The situation reportedly escalated when the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Austin Ajufo, was accused of calling a Ward 1 meeting hosted at the residence of Prof. Egwunyenga, who is neither the ward chairman nor an authorized convener. Days later, reports emerged that another meeting for Ward 2 had been scheduled at the same residence, allegedly at the directive of the LGA Chairman of Council, Hon. Innocent Esewezie.

These developments have triggered anger among core APC members who insist that the party is “not a banana republic” and must respect laid-down procedures( APC Constitution).

One senior party member, Chief Kizito Ijeh who expressed deep concern said: “I have watched with consternation the free fall of discipline in our party in Oshimili North. How can the party chairman wake up to hear that meetings are being held without his knowledge? This is unacceptable. Every man has his office and should face it.”

Stakeholders warn that the actions of a few individuals are gradually reducing the party’s LGA administration to “a laughing stock,” and risk undermining the leadership authority of Hon. Nnabuife, who remains neither removed, suspended nor incapacitated.

They further emphasized that Oshimili North APC has a clear leadership hierarchy: Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi as the “Supreme Leader,” and Hon. Austin Nnabuife as the constitutionally recognized Oshimili North APC Chairman. Any attempt to sidestep these structures, they insist, is a direct affront to party order.

The stakeholders called on Senator Nwaoboshi who is the Supreme leader of Oshimili North Local Government to caution all party officials and ensure strict adherence to the APC constitution, warning that if the current trend continues, members may resort to convening their own ward and LGA meetings without recourse to unauthorized conveners.

The APC Oshimili North Chapter led by their Capacity Chairman , Hon. Austin Nnabuife completely disassociates itself from the aforementioned “Notice of Meeting” and hereby directs all party faithful to disregard it in its entirety. Any stakeholder who attends or promotes this unauthorized gathering does so in defiance of the party’s Constitution and will be deemed to be acting in open rebellion against the legitimate leadership.

Be further advised: those enabling, sponsoring, or participating in this reckless misconduct are hereby placed on notice. The party will not hesitate to invoke disciplinary actions as provided for in our Constitution. Enough of this indiscipline. Enough of this political rascality. The days of impunity within Oshimili North APC are over, APC Chairman warn.

“This rascality must stop,” the statement added. “Hon. Nnabuife must rise to the occasion and discipline any party member who attempts to undermine his office, irrespective of their government position. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.”

COUNTER-STATEMENT: PROF. AZINGE’S POSITION ON ANIOMA STATE CREATION HAS BEEN MISREPRESENTED

By: Ike Philip Abiagom

HRM {Obi}Professor Epiphany Azinge,SAN,OON 14th Asagba of Asaba Kingdom

The recent article titled “Asagba Azinge and the Assumed Lordship of Anioma” written by Odozi Nwodozi paints an inaccurate picture of the respected Asagba of Asaba, HRM Prof. Epiphany Chibuogu Azinge, SAN,OON. It suggests that the revered monarch is working against the collective aspiration for the creation of Anioma State. This claim is not only incorrect but contradicts the very essence of the Asagba’s long-standing contributions to the Anioma cause.

For clarity and public guidance, it is important to restate the simple truth: Prof. Azinge is not opposed to the creation of Anioma State. His only insistence—which is fair, rational, and grounded in law and history—is that the geographical and cultural map of Anioma must be respected as the foundation of any state creation process. His withdrawal from chairing the Technical Committee was therefore not an act of sabotage but a demonstration of integrity, meant to avoid presiding over a process already threatened by distortions and misrepresentations.

The Asagba did not “resurrect myths” or introduce strange narratives, as suggested. Rather, he cautioned against redefining Anioma in ways that depart from its well-documented identity. His call for geographical accuracy is consistent with the principles used in past state creation exercises across Nigeria. Insisting on proper boundaries is not opposition—it is protection.

As a scholar, statesman and custodian of culture, Prof. Azinge has consistently championed the unity and upliftment of Anioma people. From his academic contributions to his international engagements, he has projected Anioma positively and defended its unique identity. It is therefore unfortunate to suggest that he is acting to undermine a cause he has supported for decades.

Dragging the Asagba’s marital ties into a serious constitutional discussion is not only inappropriate but dismisses his professional distinction, intellect and independent judgment. Prof. Azinge’s positions have always been guided by scholarship, law and cultural clarity—not by family politics.

The article attempts to reduce the Asagba’s role by setting him against other respected monarchs in Anioma. This approach is divisive and unnecessary. Anioma’s traditional institutions operate in harmony, with each throne representing its people honorably.
Prof. Azinge has never claimed supremacy over any monarch; he only seeks to ensure that the collective aspiration for Anioma State is built on truth and historical accuracy.

His Withdrawal Was an Act of Responsibility, Instead of forcing himself on a process already mired in controversy, the Asagba chose the honorable path—stepping aside to prevent further division. This is the conduct of a leader determined to safeguard peace, not disrupt it.

The Asagba’s call for proper geographical boundaries does not weaken the quest for Anioma State. On the contrary, it strengthens it, because any successful state creation effort must be founded on facts, unity and historical clarity.

In conclusion, the attempt to portray the Asagba as a stumbling block to Anioma State ignores the truth:
Prof. Azinge remains committed to the Anioma cause, but he refuses to compromise the historical and geographical identity of Anioma in the process.
His withdrawal from chairing the Technical Committee should be seen as an act of integrity—not betrayal.
Anioma’s greatness lies in truth, unity, and respect for its institutions.
On these pillars, Anioma State will eventually be realised.
