[dropcap]O[/dropcap]gbuefi Ben Egwuatu is a member of the SPON Media Aide to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, has expressed mixed feelings over what it alleged as “poor quality” of the flyover being constructed at the popular Coker Junction in Asaba by the Delta State Government, saying it’s apparent that Senator Nwaoboshi’s recent comment on poor infrastructural development of the state, particularly Asaba, spurred the government to embark on the hurried construction of the flyover.
According to Egwuatu , prior to the challenge thrown by the distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi over the poor infrastructure in Asaba, the state capital, Delta State Government had been sleeping and relishing the deception and illusion of being “a roadmaster”, noting that even the flyover project that he is belatedly embarking upon is being badly executed due to the poor and low grade of the contractor.
He urged the governor to emulate the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who he pointed out has constructed about ten flyovers in that state, compared to none under Gov Okowa, “our self appointed roadmaster”!
Egwuatu further challenged Senator Okowa to dare to compare the developmental strides of the governors of Ebonyi, Bornu, Bayelsa, Kaduna, Kano states in quality flyover construction in quality fly over project construction, and others, who he said have taken developments in their respective states to the next level.
The fearless Nwaoboshi’s aide stated that Governor Okowa has disappointed the people of Delta state on all fronts, particularly the Anioma nation on whose back he rode to power in 2015/19 saying, the resources that accrued to the state was enough for the governor to turn the fortunes of the oil-rich Delta state to the ‘New York’ of Nigeria.
According to Egwuatu , while Governors Wike, Willy Obiano, Benedict Ayade and Emmanuel Udom of Cross River and Akwa Ibom states are productively growing infrastructure and running existing airports in their states with fleets of commercial planes, for Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers, Governor Okowa sold off the only airport, wondering “what has the people of the state done wrong to warrant such flagrant disregard to development in the state”?
The image maker of Senator Nwaoboshi stated that the Delta, in terms of the monetary accruals from the Federation Account deserves much more than the governor is giving, noting that a former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, had in 2017 stated in Asaba that the monthly accruals from the Federal Government to the state since 1999 when democracy berthed in the country was more than the money used to rebuild entire Europe after the Second World War, even as he called on the governor to step up actions in meaningfully impacting on the lives of the people in the state by doing the needful.
Dr. Emmanuel Udughan, he maintained, initiated most of the projects the current administration is laying claims today, saying the airport the governor sold was entirely the efforts of his predecessor, who he said worked assiduously to rewrite the story of the state in terms of quality service.
He called on the people of the state to support the All Progressives Congress, APC to birth a new state, where prosperity will be taken beyond what he called mere deceptive jamboree and power aggrandisement.
“Thank God we have a Senator, who appreciates development and growth. In Senator Nwaoboshi, the people of Delta North Senatorial District have a man whose gaze is focused on the next developmental project.
Recall that, recently, Senator Nwaoboshi lambasted Delta State Government over the deplorable and poor state of infrastructure in the state capital, Asaba, that has been pitifully turned into a glorified village while the teeming youth population are idle increasing security risk by the current PDP administration.
[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he major opposition party in Delta State, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has ridiculed the Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration over comments credited to him on rescue mission.
The party in a statement on Friday November 5th 2021 by the Publicity Secretary (Caretaker), Sylvester Imonina, Esq., challenged the Okowa government to begin his rescue mission from home.
APC in the statement called out on Okowa, to be quiet when issues of development is being discussed as he has failed Deltans in the issue of overall development across the state.
There is a common saying that “charity begins at home”, and in Delta State, there is a common adage that says “fufu wey dey full belle, na eyes them they take know am”.
In the light of the above, Delta APC dare to say that it is ludicrous for Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa and his “hallelujah boys” in Delta State to tell Nigerians that they are out on a rescue mission to rescue Nigeria.
Before now, Delta APC did not want to join issues with Okowa and his aides, but because the opposition party does not want Deltans to go back to the yesteryears of political locust, hence the party’s reaction to PDP attempt to deceive Deltans.
Considering what Deltans are going through in the hands of PDP led-Government of Delta in relation to human and infrastructural development, it is preposterous for the State Governor to say anything about the development of Nigeria and Nigerians. Is there any meaningful development in Delta State? Why can’t he maintain silence when issues of development are being discussed!
Delta APC and Deltans are asking Gov. Okowa the following questions!
(1) What is the state of Warri industrial Park?
(2) What is the State of Kwale industrial Park?
(3) What is the state of Oleri leisure Park?
(4) What is the state of Warri-Ode Itsekiri road?
(5) Why are the few roads constructed in the State by your administration collapsing in less than three months of their construction?
(6) Why are companies and/ or investors moving out of Delta State in droves?
(7) Why is it that the only source of employments to Delta graduates are riding of tricycles (keke) and “tuketukes”?
(8) Why is the exact take home of State civil servants not known and/ or shrouded in secrecy?
(9) Why are the Local Government workers and primary school teachers owed for months without being paid?
(10) Why are retired local government workers’ entitlements not paid since 2014?
(11) Why are retired State workers not paid then pensions and gratuities since 2016?
(12) Why are the few available employment opportunities in Delta State civil service shrouded in secrecy?
(13) Why are there no known State Government Contractors in Delta State of today, unlike in the time past where there was hardly any Street in Delta State without Goverment contractors?
(14) What is the state of Ada-Irri-Okpe-Isoko-Ofagbe Road?
Delta APC challenges Gov. Okowa to rescue those projects and/ or answer the above questions before he and his likes will talk about rescuing of Nigeria. Deltans are wiser now!
Without holding brief for the media handlers of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, it is a known fact that gargantuan achievements have been made by the present APC led Federal Goverment which are but not limited to the followings:
(a) Construction and revamping of the rail sector.
(b) Construction and rehabilitation of hundreds of Federal roads and Bridges which were before now not motorable. The multi-billions second Niger bridge between Asaba and Onitsha speaks volumes.
(c) Reforming and revamping the Payment of pensions for federal civil servants.
(d) Total overhauling of most of the seaports and airports for optimal performances.
(e) Revamping of the agricultural sector which has given room to astronomical increase in rice production and other cereal crops.
(f) Social investment programmes like Npower, market money, Covid-19 loans, special public works (SPW) and other related programmes that have in no small measure put smiles on the faces of Deltans in particular and Nigerians in general.
The above mentioned Federal Goverment’s programmes are accessed by Nigerians irrespective of political and ethnic leaning /cleavages; unlike in Delta State where some purported programmes of the State Government are shrouded in secrecy!
It is very unfortunate that despite the fact that Delta State is the highest recipient of Federal allocations for more than three years now, meaningful development is far from Deltans.
The PDP led-Government of Delta State should bury its head in shame when issues of human and capital developments are talked about. Deltans are wiser now, as they cannot be deceived again with PDP political rhetorics.
[dropcap]R[/dropcap]esidents of Ambassador Leo Okogwu Street in Asaba, the state capital of Delta State say they are not resting on their oars to ensure that the Delta State government completes abandoned roads in the street. The residents said that they are highly disappointed with the nonchalant attitude of the State government over incessant appeals from the Ambassador Leo Okogwu Street residents to the state government to complete the street roads which have subjected residents of the street to untold hardship.
In a chat with Comrade Okey Johnson, said that several appeals to the state government for quick intervention on the roads which have exposed members of the street to excruciating pains fell on deaf ears.
“The residents are not resting on their oars to ensure that the state government led by His Excellency , Senator Ifeanyi Okowa complete the roads abandoned for years now.
“The irony of the whole episode is that state government has not expressed any concern over several previous interventions the residents have made to ensure that the roads are completed and the suffering of our people ameliorated. Rather the state government had looked the other way and the suffering of our people continues unabated,” Mr Johnson said.
“We have been suffering on this road for over 15 years now. Last two year, Governor Okowa visited the street and promised to construct the road but up till now we have not seen any sign, they have dug under ground gutters and up till now we have not heard anything from them”.
Another resident by name Barrister Afam Ebi, highlighted some of the effects the residents have been facing, saying the police and fire service decline coming into the area because of the bad road which has given criminals opportunity to operate.
“This has increased crime in the area, because whenever an incident is going on, you call the police and fire service, they cannot come in because of the bad road.
“The government should do something, let state government come and complete the road, because of this road, business in the street is completely dead, I cannot invite my friends to my house, you can’t take Keke to my house as it’s very bad.
“This government needs to avoid abandoned road project like Ambassador Leo Okogwu Street. Once abandoned projects are in any place, that place will not move forward. We are appealing to the executive Governor of Delta State State, let him help us”, he stated.
Another Resident, Mrs. Mary Agu said the road links the DLA/Jesus saves road, and if this street road is not constructed, it will open up and decongest the state capital.
The people noted that the road has lately became a security threat to the street as criminals daily terrorizing the them at will.
[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ost Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has shown better skills in the representation of Delta North at the National Assembly and within the last six years in office; he has demonstrated clearly that he is a man with a vision and the “Standout Man” in Anioma Nation. In politically challenging times, there is always a standout man, a person who is diligent in his work, a man who subsequently stands before Kings, having made several sacrifices for his nation.
In most cases, many do not agree with him. He is seen and described as ambitious,a tool in the hand of the usurpers or an instrument for a hatchet job.
However, in most cases such men endure the trying times, the name calling and insults to become a national symbol of peace and unity. This appears the path that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, has placed or rather found himself in recent years of serving, having been elected by his people to represent them in red chambers,Senator Peter Nwaoboshi by fate has emerged a leader worthy of emulation in many ways, some of which we will touch as we go on.
As it is known, politic is considered by many a dirty game. However, one fact remains that the player determines how dirty it can be, how dirty he is ready to go for the sake of his people, his brothers, sisters, the masses and even the electorates. This apparently is the case of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi,as Many will recall the politics that played out in 2019 when Nwaoboshi was elected for second tenure to represent Anioma nation.
The hue and cry by politically motivated noisemakers was endless and deafening, the question of how did Senator Peter Nwaoboshi,a People Democratic Party (opposition) man then emerge Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs again, was the issue of deliberation for months.
However, those who saw the whole picture preferred to ask questions such as “Why are people hell bent on fighting Senator Nwaoboshi the Senate committee Chairman of Niger Delta Affairs which he was duly elected to, why are people more concerned about individual interests when they should look at the greater interest of the country ”
In finding an answer to these questions, many soon realized that the urge to take control of his position politically for selfish reasons was the bigger picture being sought by foot soldiers under the directive of behind the scene workers and godfathers. This is what Senator Nwaoboshi has refused, as any patriot would do, hence the bad names he has been called in recent times because he decided to take his constituency to the center of power.
However, as stated in the early part of this write-up, no person who wants to “standout” would be deterred by this false cries, witch hunt or drama-filled prosecution. And so, Senator Nwaoboshi moves on with his work in moving the Anioma forward to a greater height.
Those who know Senator Nwaoboshi well enough will attest to his kind heartedness. Power is intoxicating and those who hold on to it hardly want to let go, but many would remember how Senator Nwaoboshi practically fought for equity in Delta state and even in his own local government,he ensured that power not only changed hands in Oshimili North local Government , but that someone else outside his town held the mantle of leadership of the council.
While the tribulations might persist for a while, Senator Nwaoboshi will always stand out in Anioma Nation, the like of retired Army Special Operations Officer Wayne Long, Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically leader elected in what is now know as the democratic republic of Congo, Thomas Sankara, Steve Biko, regarded as an icon in the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa.
However, one question which begs for answer is must we always throw away the baby and the bath water, must we sacrifice the standout man focused in ensuring that the Anioma is not used for individual’s whims and caprices because of power play, must we always ruin the nice guy who has plan for a better tomorrow?.
These questions are some of the many which posterity will ask naysayers of Senator Nwaoboshi who continues to stand tall and will continue to do so for a very long time.
[dropcap]I[/dropcap] have had to cope with the experience of ugly and painful plots by self-serving persons in the past, and so, the unscrupulous presence that the file-carrying Dr. Olise has received in the past days may have gone past me as one among many, but this one is nauseating and for two reasons: Of a truth, he seems to be achieving his intention (get public attention) with the reactions flooding most political fora; and second, the fact that he chose the wrong person for his imbecilic project – his “subject-matter” is beyond
him.
Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi is too tall a figure for this prattling Paper -weight.
Dr. Olise does not in spirit and form, possess the appearance, having been rejected three times by his Ndokwa East people when he presented himself for an elective position, as one with such capacity and substance to develop a 'mere proposal' not to talk of the sagacity and intrepid initiative to influence decision-making in an agency like NDDC. Evidently, and as has been adduced in most reactions, he is seeking to ensure that his principal and of course the Emperor/Paymaster of Delta State will continue to see him as relevant. Thanks to former Governor Fayose for introducing the phrase “Stomach Infrastructure” into our political lexicon.
That there is hunger in our land and family heads would do a lot to secure food for their homes is not at all a problem for me. That
is understandable. What is unacceptable is to deal at falsity for mere what to eat, or to be aspersive to achieve selfish ends. It is
annoying and in my opinion, criminal.
Also, there appears to be something common with people of inglorious background that spurs them to this severe pressure (all by
themselves) to impress and seek recognition. Most times, the unguided take them seriously and Dr. Olise seems to be one of those
and he needs help. I will leave us with a short story – one which we are all familiar with, but apt in the case at hand, and above all,
would be instructive for our friend Olise. Sorry for the error, “Native Doctor Olise”.
The Holy Bible tells a story of one Zacheaus, a very short man who was also hated by his people because he was a tax collector. He
had heard of a Jesus who was making the waves with his teachings and miracles and he thought in his mind that he needed the
audience and benefaction of this rev of the moment. Disadvantaged as he was, he had to climb a sycamore tree to have a proper
view of Jesus to be recognised. He actually succeeded in getting that attention and so, mission accomplished.
What is instructive about Zacheaus’ story is that he recognised the superiority of Jesus and the followership he Jesus was enjoying
because of his good works. He had a genuine ambition and he got it. Dr. Olise must understand that the widespread acceptance
and patronage that Senator Nwaoboshi is enjoying is as a result of the good work he is doing, representing us in the Senate. He
must learn that the only sure way to success, is through hard work that is people-centric, unless you are not in politics. Above all,
he must learn to be humble and respectful. “Onye kali onye, akaga”.
To find relevance in Ndokwa politics, I will advise him to be courageous enough to remind his paymasters that Senator Peter
Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, though is the Representative of Delta North to which the Ndokwa Nation belongs, Ndokwa Nation is
still part of Delta State and deserves, even if not as much, but something in the manner as the Owa Initiative. Only then can the
intentions of Dr. Olise be clearer. Ogbuefi Ben Egwuatu is from Ukala Okpunor and a member of the SPON Media Team
[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ost Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON), is an exceptional human being and an exemplary one just like the late Martin Luther King Jr. But if I can distill him into one word, he is an enigma. Senator Nwaoboshi is a 21st century builder, national pathfinder, democracy warrior with the farthest vision I have ever seen. He is an architect of the modern Anioma, both in infrastructural development initiatives and human capital development. He is hard work and competence personified. It is fairly reasoned that the challenges and solutions of leadership are inside leaders. This view stands in line with the fact that born leaders don’t just do things, they change things. Reading the life of Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi (SPON), member representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate Arm of the National Assembly and Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, one cannot but agree that, indeed, wisdom is earned better in the den of setbacks than in the coziness of victories.
Perhaps, one of the most telling demonstrations of a leader’s abilities come at a time of crisis. Morestill, Nwaoboshi, at the wheel of Nigeria’s 8th and 9th National Assembly, has not disappointed his admirers nor rivals in the country’s gloomy political landscape. Rather than retreating behind closed doors in the face of the seemingly endless assaults at harming his hard earned status, the scion of the famed Oracle Dynasty of Delta has consistently shown leadership at the forefront, assessing situations, evaluating options, and encouraging colleagues in the Upper chamber to work together for a stable, fair and just society.
Although traits are quite developed for natural leadership, certain individuals are, without doubt, born leaders. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi falls in the latter category. Balancing on his self-assurance and privileged position as Nigeria’s Super Senator, Nwaoboshi stands tall amongst leaders who acknowledge the present reality of the country, he has been very proactive working on problem-solving ideas, managing change and responding effectively to complex, open-ended opportunities, and challenges as they come. Convincingly, at the legislative corner where he holds court, he does not gloss over problems with hope that they’ll just go away.
The expression that says as leaders, we prove our capacity when we gain the ability to focus despite distractions, luckily, is not lost on Senator Nwaoboshi. Distraction seems to have become a standard but one that natural born leaders are fortunate to be well equipped to duck. Their worry is buried in a memo of the late legendary success author, Napoleon Hill, which he called ‘The Magnificent Obsession.’ In the letter, Hill demonstrates that natural leaders avoid the cultural norm of being disconnected from their goals. They do not allow trivialities to become urgencies in their affairs. The author also imparts that leaders set targets and keep trying until they hit the marks.
Beyond the mere rhetoric of master-slave bond, Nwaoboshi, in fulfillment of his electioneering campaign promise, regularly encourages entrepreneurship by empowering women and youths in his primary constituency, Delta North, in his urge to make his people economically self-reliant. Studies show that empowerment materials worth million are doled out to thousands of less-endowed Aniomas every year, apart from cash gifts to support businesses and individuals. Also, recently, the senator unveiled an empowerment scheme that will benefit 5,000 Delta North youths.
Considering the massive support from Anioma people during the recent EFCC case debacle, the Nwaoboshi challenge has shown that the ‘Anioma Accord’ has come too far to be broken by nocturnal politics and no matter the weight of external aggression and gang-up, Anioma cannot be disintegrated along politics line.
Like every good leader, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi’s opponents are plotting to destabilize his leadership. However, in all areas of life, leaders have struggled with the balance of being feared and loved. Remarkably, Nwaoboshi is proving beyond doubts his prowess as a likable leader who is very concerned with every individual, thus he is attracting more ‘likes’ even beyond his loyal camp. This accounts for his penchant for shutting off his emotions in order to push others up the success ladder.
I want to say that his leadership acumen cut across all ramifications. His leadership is entirely formed by his passion for human development, most especially his immediate constituents, the people of Anioma, and the leadership that is unmatched with any person or group of persons that had surpassed any one that I have ever seen in my entire life. Senator Nwaobosh is honest and loyal to a fault. He is shrewd; yet very open to superior opinions. He is a good listener; extremely focused, hardworking and, above all, undauntedly passionate about Nigeria’s development. I have never seen him take decisions without inputs from his team members. I have seen him on many occasions make personal sacrifice for his own team members especially at national level.
Deltans and Anioma Nation now know better that Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the Oracle turned Miracle of Delta Politics, the Ide of Okpanam Land, Oshimili Lieonye Olie Ogwuaa of Akwukwu Igbo Kingdom and the Ochiaya of Anioma Nation is the best Senator ever to represent Delta North at the upper chambers. His kindness and willingness to reach out to struggling Aniomas is one reputation that will continue to precede him on the match again come 2023.
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n his continuous humanitarian drive, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON),member representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate Arm of the National Assembly and Chairman Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs has constructed a mechanised borehole for residents of Arewa Community in Ibusa town, Oshimili North LGA, Delta State.
The Arewa Community in Ibusa town has only depended on the stream water as their sole source of water for drinking, bathing and washing for many years, receiving the borehole on behalf of the community,The Seriki of the Community said that this is a wonderful gift and that the Arewa Community will always remain grateful to the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON)for executing this wonderful project because the community was fetching water from the stream, which most times is muddy but we thank God that we can now drink clean water. He said Nwaoboshi has done what the State and Local government have failed to do. “Every time politicians come here to campaign, we beg them for water but they never come back until when it is campaign period again.“So for us, today is a special day in our lives and we pray that God will bless Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) who has our welfare at heart.
Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON),who was represented by APC chieftain Chief Austin Izagbo, the Ide of Igbuzo, during the inauguration of the borehole in Ibusa on Saturday said the community was considered because of its peculiar water challenge and spirit of community development shown by the people through their self-help projects.Chief Izagbo said the APC Ward Chairman Hon.Emeka Ebele identified the pains of the Community during the APC Ward Grassroots Mobilisation.According to Hon. Ebele,APC Ward Grassroots Political team discovered the pains of the Arewa Community during their APC Grassroots Mobilisation for Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) and APC,he saw how women were scooping water from a(unclean)muddy stream and he took pity on them.I was moved to do something for the community and I felt strongly about their plight, I was inspired to seek the attention of our leader Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) to rescue the Arewa Community and thank God today the dream has become a reality,” he said.
Some residents in the Arewa Community in Ibusa who spoke to SPON Media described the project as well commendable and prayed that God should enrich the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON)as he continues to put smiles on the faces of people. One of the residents who identified himself as Abudu Musa, said, “We really want to appreciate Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) for remembering us in this area. The project is such a timely and laudable one because most of the residents here find it difficult to get good potable water as a result of the deficiency associated with the supply. But today, the borehole had eased the pains of the community.”Another resident, Mrs. Esther George, appreciated the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi(SPON) while praying for God’s unmerited favour upon him and all the APC team members.
The ceremony was graced by Party Leaders in Oshimili North like APC Oshimili North LGA Chairman,Hon Austin Nnabuife aka the Political Ojeogbue, Chief Kizito Ijeh, Ward 5, 6 and 8 APC Chairmen Mr Emeka Ebele, Mr Emma Okwuekwu and Mr Tony Ogadi respectively. Others are, Mrs Rose Idoko, Hon Mrs Pat Asiana, Chief Mike Diayi, Mr Agokei Nosike, Amaka Pounds Akaeze to mention but a few.
