The people of Igbuzo have expressed gratitude to Sir Walter and Dame Winifred Akpani for setting a unique philanthropic precedent for the people of Igbuzo. In a display of communal support and social responsibility, the Akpani’s recently extended their philanthropic gestures to the Igbuzo Community, ensuring that the spirit of Christmas resonates through acts of kindness. Through the exercise, trailer loads of beans, tomatoes, noodles, Rice and Vegetable oil were distributed to the various villages in Igbuzo.
Speaking on the gesture, Mr Ben Ejeteh, who successfully supervised the distribution of the Akpani Foundation largesse in collaboration with other committee members to all the ten villages in Igbuzo, described the gifts as life-saving, given the present economic reality in the country. He said despite logistical problems, the food items, initially intended for distribution before the end of Christmas, have now reached their destinations, thanks to Sir Walter and Dame Winifred Akpani commitment and logistic support.
He remarked that the initiative had not only bridged the gap between the rich and the poor in Igbuzo, but set precedent for future philanthropic endeavours. Amatokwu remained optimistic that the generosity will inspire benefactors to continue the tradition of giving as stated in the Holy bible and recommended in the pillar of Christmas as a season of sharing love. As the food items reach the hands of the beneficiaries across villages in Igbuzo, our people expressed their appreciation for the fair and inclusive distribution process.
Torrents of gratitude were heaped on the Akpani Foundation by the POON newly crowned Ambassador who spoke on behalf of the community. Emmma Amatokwu aka Kwasa and POON Ambassador Hon. Leo Nkeaka , they expressed the fact that Sir Walter and Dame Winifred Akpani are “God sent” to Igbuzo, while commending their zeal to sustain the over ten years old initiative.
He said; “We don’t take these generous gestures for granted, words can’t describe how happy we are with Sir Walter and Dame Winifred Akpani for sustaining this Legacy , it’s a magnanimous show of Love beyond politics which shows that they truly loves us and we also love them.
“Aside the infrastructure and empowerment they have brought to our community, they have continued to add value to our lives with their yearly Christmas and New Year gifts. We are very grateful and shall continue to stand by them no matter what”.
