The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, and three other suspects in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of Mr. Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, Deputy Director in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the latest arrests bring the total number of persons currently in police custody over the matter to five.
The Command disclosed that investigations are continuing as detectives work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death of the senior civil servant.
The police further revealed that a manhunt has been launched for two additional suspects whose presence is considered crucial to the investigation. The suspects were identified as Mrs. Clementine Ufuoma, Director of Basic and Secondary Education, and Mr. Clement Apia, driver to the Commissioner for Secondary Education.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, called on the two suspects to present themselves to the police without delay to assist investigators.
The investigation will be pursued thoroughly, impartially and professionally,” the Commissioner of Police assured, adding that due process would be followed and anyone found culpable would be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
CP Erale also assured the family of the deceased and members of the public that the Command remains committed to ensuring a transparent investigation into the incident.
The Police Command expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family of Mr. Adeda, whose death has generated widespread concern among civil servants and residents across the state.
The statement, signed by SP Bright Edafe, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD, reiterated the Command’s determination to uncover the facts surrounding the case and ensure that justice is served.
