Following Yar’Adua’s passing, he aligned with the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), working closely with Muhammadu Buhari to strengthen the party’s base in Northern Nigeria.

His appointment as APC National Welfare Secretary between 2018 and 2020 under former chairman Adams Oshiomhole further demonstrated his administrative capability. In that role, he championed internal reforms, improved member welfare, and contributed to stabilizing the party during a turbulent period.
Today, as Special Adviser to the President, Masari’s responsibilities extend beyond routine counsel.
