*Election Money tears Chairman, Councillors apart, Chairman in physical combat with Councillors.

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hat could be regarded as show of Shame had just occurred at Oshimili South local government council yesterday where money mapped out for the prosecution of the just concluded 2019 general elections caused physical fighting between the council chairman, Hon Andrew Uche Osadebe and the Councillors.
Trouble started earlier yesterday Wednesday March 13, 2019, when the Councillors approached the chairman to give them their own share of the N3.4million mapped out for the election. The chairman who already has allegedly misappropriated the said money gave flimsy excuses saying he gave the Leader of the Legislative arm N300,000.The Councillors who were angered beyond control while requesting
for their own share of the money which was placed at N1.2 million, burst into the chairman’s office and engaged him in a physical combat.
The council premises was turned into a theatre of war without bullets where blows were thrown at one another by the political class which attracted the police and other security operatives at the council.
At the time of filing this report, a staff of the council who does not want his name on print, confirmed that the chairman and the Councillors went to Police station ‘A’ Division, Asaba yesterday , wednesday, March 13, 2019,to settle the issue. The source also disclosed that both the chairman and the Councillors are very greedy, adding that its only money that had been causing crisis amongst them while the civil servants at the council always stand afar and watch them disgrace themselves. The source also said that this is the worst set of political class ever to be in the council.
Earlier, the Leader of the Legislative arm of the council, had denied collecting any money from the chairman.
It will be recalled that during the time of bailout fund, the chairman also had issues with the Councillors over the alleged embezzlement of the N10 million allocated last year to the council by Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa to execute projects in the local government but the council cannot give the full details of the fund or the projects executed with the fund.
This is not the first time the chairman is engaging in physical combat with Councillors. And this may not be the last.
More details will soon unfold as the Oshimili South Local Government continues to boil…
