[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n the mood of Christmas celebration, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the member representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate Arm of the National Assembly and Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, has distributed thousands of bags of rice and other items to the nine Delta North Senatorial District he represents.
The eloquent Politician, who delights in putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged, the poor and the downtrodden across several towns and communities in the spirit of the season has not only become a ‘Messiah of sort’ to the poorest of the poor but had kept faith with his mission to reduce poverty and hunger in the Delta North Senatorial District.
The Senator, who said Christmas would be empty without acts of love as shown by Christ, also observed that love was also engrained in African cultures.
He stressed that “the spirit of sharing is an African tradition that generates happiness and ensures social stability in the absence of a formal social security mechanism that caters for the less privileged in our society”.
Nwaoboshi, admired by many of his allies have made it a tradition to celebrate and distribute bags of rice and other items to the nine local government of Delta North Senatorial District he represents as a show of love to the poor and needy who have little to celebrate the season with.
“This may not be enough, but with this little we believe it will go a long way in supporting some families to celebrate Christmas well,’’ he said.
The lawmaker said that the items were not just for his party members, but for all members of the constituency, saying “I represent all.’’
Nwaoboshi also call on all Nigerians to also be grateful to God for keeping them thus far, saying that life and health were gifts from God.
For his constituents, Nwaoboshi rededicated himself to their service, promising to ensure that the right environment was created for their empowerment.
Nwaoboshi called on the people to use this period to pray for him and other leaders in the country to lead Nigeria to peace and prosperity.
