RE: Senator Nwoko’s Two-Year Record of Achievements for Delta North Outshines Nwaoboshi’s Eight-Year Tenure

By: Ike Philip Abiagom & Oby Eward

Our attention has been drawn to a recent online article titled: “Senator Nwoko’s Two-Year Record of Achievements for Delta North Outshines Nwaoboshi’s Eight-Year Tenure, by Ogele Abednego. It’s indeed laughable to hear that Senator Ned Nwoko Two-Year in senate for Delta North Outshines Nwaoboshi’s Eight-Year as a senator. However, one question which begs for answer is – must we always throw away the baby and the bath water, must we sacrifice the standout man focused in ensuring that the Anioma is not used for individual’s whims and caprices because of power play and paid falsehood, must we always ruin the nice guy who has plan for a better tomorrow of Anioma Nation?.

It’s clear that Nwaoboshi is a champion of good representative, even when he was the Delta state party Chairman of PDP he fought for the first Anioma Governor and it came to pass, so his legacies will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on Anioma nation and its people. It’s clear that Senator Nwoko’s journey to the senate is marred by misinformation and social media propaganda. Senator Ned Nwoko is an Abuja politician who rode on the coattails of Senator Okowa and Governor Oborevwori to become a senator. Unlike Senator Peter Nwaoboshi who is a grassroots politician with visionary leadership who knows what it takes to represent his people at the red chambers.
Anioma nation witnessed significant advancements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and economic growth during his sojourn as a senator.

The Ibusa born political tactician brought to the fore glamour and extraordinary representation in less than one year in office after beginning his improbable quest as a first timer within the minority party, he became Chairman Senate Committee on Niger – Delta Affairs, Including the NDDC, the first minority barrier breaking achievement believed to be impossible by generation of minorities in Nigeria.

There is no doubt whatsoever that in the last seven years of his active representation as a senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria before he was illegally incarcerated, Anioma Nation have come to embrace and admire Senator Nwaoboshi’s tactical audacity, strategic acumen and the sure-footed administrative astuteness which sets him apart as a visionary leader, Senator Nwaoboshi can never be compared to the present Senator Ned Nwoko or the past senators in all ramifications if not for his illegal incarceration which gave his opponent a free running day, Senator Ned Nwoko wouldn’t have defeated Senator Nwaoboshi in an open election because of his countless achievements as senator and his score card.

it’s also on record that no Anioma Senator has ever broken the record of chairing any juicy Senate Committee as a first timer, it is only the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi a man with robust political experience and wide range of political influence. A man who spread dividends of democracy to the nook and crannies of Delta North within one year in office, Anioma Nation never knew that a serving senator can attract over 140 roads network across Delta North, distribution of 100 Transformers, installation of thousands of solar street lights, supply of over 100,000 chairs and tables to primary and Secondary schools in Delta North, renovation of schools, building of skills acquisition centers, empowerment of women and youths, training of Anioma Youth through NDDC, Scholarships, employment of youths into various Government parastatals etc.

He fought and included Ndokwa Nation into Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) master plan and also included Ndokwa Youths into Nigeria Presidential Amnesty Programmes which alot of young people in Ndokwa Nation even in the whole of Delta North Senatorial District have benefited both in Education, Health, Agriculture sectors and Oil Companies Treaties till tomorrow. He also Sponsored the Bill for Act to repeal NDDC act, same Bill was Passed by the National Assembly and Assented to or rather signed into Law by the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, can Senator Ned Nwoko mention one of his numerous bills that was passed and signed into law by Mr President?.

when he ascended as the member representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate Arm of the National Assembly, as a first timer he became the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, because he is the Anioma’s Democratic ship and he used the senate as vehicle to drive social and economic change in Delta North (Anioma) undermining the vehement hostility against him as a member of the opposition party at federal level.

However, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi did not renege on his primary duty as a Senator and continued to discharge his duties with a sense of purpose and efficiency. Many leaders have not shown a greater sense of emotional intelligence, empathy and responsiveness to the needs of Deltans like (Senator Nwaoboshi)our Anioma Political Warrior, A Go-Getter and a result Oriented Senator.

Besides these legislative efforts and accomplishments, it is on record that he has, in an unprecedented manner attracted unequaled massive projects to the Delta North Senatorial District. Senator Nwaoboshi flaunts a first-time record in roads construction, rural electrification, both in the distribution of transformers, renovations of schools , supply of text books, chairs and tables and solar energy street lights, visible in all the nooks and crannies of the Anioma nation and this is indisputable. The list is endless and no space in one write-up can allow the listing, else it may become boring and every ward in Anioma Nation benefited projects from Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

Critics in their attempt to lower the influence of the Nwaoboshi Factor have deposed insensitively that these achievements came only because of his privileged position as the chairman of the Senate committee for Niger Delta Affairs. They point to the huge resources of the NDDC as an added impetus for his performance. Absurdly, this position denies the Nwaoboshi Factor to these events. The questions to ask and congruously pertinent is, how is it that the ruling party ceded such a feasible and viable office to Nwaoboshi coming from an opposition party, if not for his delirious personae? That Nwaoboshi knows his onions is not at all in doubt because from the start of his political career, he has shown remarkably that he towers in the realm of the spiritual.

In the 9th Senate, Senator Nwaoboshi proposed bill for the creation of Anioma State when he was representing Delta North,it passed through the first and second reading and was referred to the committee on State creation. Eminent Anioma leaders were carried along and they appeared before the committee and defended the request, and it was one of the states shortlisted, the records are there for check.Every Nigerian knows that state creation is a constitutional matter, Senator Nwaoboshi is not a social media representative and does not make unnecessary noise about his achievements.

Senator Nwaoboshi does not spread falsehoods about projects or numbers of bills presented without non seeing the light of the day or claiming federal government projects. Senator Nwoko should focus on lobbying the Federal Government to complete abandoned projects in Delta State rather than adding them to his list of his achievement as Anioma senator. I read the part where Senator Nwoko cited one of his reasons for his defection to the APC and he claimed it was because of Governor Oborevwori’s refusal to fund the Okpai Independent Power Plant (IPP) project and did not support him for the creation of Anioma State, I laughed because that was 100% lie.

The Okpai IPP, which began in 2002 and was completed in 2005, falls under federal jurisdiction. The project was designed to generate power for the national grid, and any issues related to its distribution are the responsibility of the Federal Government. The IPP project Senator Nwoko is using to play politics is not a state-owned project but a federal government project awarded by them. How can State government fund a project already awarded by the federal government is not possible, and Senator Nwoko, being an enlightened politician and lawmaker, should know this better because Anioma people are wiser now.

Senator Nwoko ought to be urging the Federal Government to accelerate the completion of the project using his influence at the Senate instead of spreading lies against the governor. His colleagues at the Senate are using their connections to attract federal projects, but Senator Nwoko is busy spreading falsehoods against the governor. This is quite deceitful because he knows the truth, yet he wants the gullible in our society to see him as a saint and the governor as the devil.

Regarding the Ogwashi-Uku dam, on April 8, 2024, Senator Nwoko announced that the Federal Government would formally hand over the Ogwashi-Uku dam to the Delta State government. My question is, has Senator Nwoko forgotten that he made this statement while hosting women from the nine local governments of Delta North at his Idumuje Ugboko country home, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the State? Why is he now blaming Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the Ogwashi-Uku dam’s inactivity when the federal government has not handed over the dam to the state government?

The project is obviously a federal government project, and as a senator, I expected Senator Nwoko to be proactive and lobby others to ensure that federal government projects in Delta State are completed. It’s an act of wickedness to lie against the state governor in a bid to manipulate his gullible followers. Senator Nwoko should think of better lies. I don’t want to talk about the mirage project of Asaba-Oko-Aboh road which will run through to Patani. Senator Ned Nwoko revealed that the road has been injected into the 2025 project of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This road, according to him, will cost not less than N28bn, why is he counting his chickens before they’re hatched. He would have waited for the project to commence and completed before adding it to his achievements.

As it stands today in Anioma Nation, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is the official mascot of Anioma identity, history, traditional norms and values. He is fearless, courageous, pragmatic, articulate and very outspoken advocacy in the legitimate quest for constitutional clarity over contentious issues, which he has displayed with competent authority, makes his leadership model iconic and he has been their voice and will continue to stands for Anioma people when they are seemingly oppressed.

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the Dynamic Leader, the Oracle turned Miracle of Delta Politics, the Ide of Okpanam Land, Oshimili Lieonye Olie Ogwuaa of Akwukwu Igbo Kingdom and the Ochiaya of Anioma Nation is the Anioma’s Democratic ship and he used the senate as vehicle to drive social and economic change in Delta North (Anioma)when he was representing Anioma undermining the vehement hostility against him as a member of the opposition party at federal level.

Besides these legislative efforts and accomplishments, it is on record that he has, in an unprecedented manner attracted unequaled massive projects to the Delta North Senatorial District.

Anioma people have every reason to be proud of Nwaoboshi – A true son of Anioma, an illustrious son whose political influence has brought multiplying gains to us, evidenced by the several projects in infrastructure either attracted or personally provided by the Senator. In human capital development, the Senator has, and is still empowering both youths and women in various trades and businesses to make them self-reliant. Many more are also now on his payroll, sole effort of the Senator to alleviate the sufferings of his people.
All the nooks and crannies of Delta North are witness to the Nwaoboshi factor in the distribution of social infrastructure that once eluded the region as stakeholders in the NDDC and he does not build castle in the air.

Deltans-Anioma Nation now knows better that Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is the best Senator ever to represent Delta North at the upper chambers. His kindness and willingness to reach out to Aniomas people is one reputation that will continue to precede him. Nwaoboshi has performed beyond doubt and above all past and present Senators who have represented Delta North in the Senate and this is unquestionable,Senator Nwaoboshi who continues to stand tall and will continue to do so for a very long time.
Well, Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has made his point clearly in the following words: “As a a two term Senator who represented Delta North Senatorial District (2015–2023) and a committed leader in the APC,He strongly condemn Nwoko’s attempt to judge his achievements rather he should be more focused to show the Anioma people his report card after four years and not by counting the number of bills that did not see the light of the day. As the saying goes, a word is enough for the wise. Those who have ears to hear, let them hear.

RE : I KNOW NED NWOKO NEVER DID ANYTHING THAT TOOK NWAOBOSHI TO JAIL-

By: Ike Philip Abiagom & Oby Edward

Our attention has been drawn to a recent online article titled: “I KNOW NED NEVER DID ANYTHING THAT TOOK NWAOBOSHI TO JAIL” — Fejiro Oliver, by Mr. Frank Iroro, which literally appears to be an exoneration of Senator Ned Nwoko in the 2022 incarceration of Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, but is contextually, a snide, shameless and surreptitious invocation of a dubious political gambit, which discerning analytics would quickly reveal as playing the “Devil’s Advocate”. In which case Mr. Frank Iroroh is attempting with great, almost desperate effort, to justify an admission by Mr. Fejiro Oliver that he (the Oguonota of Africa) is taking full responsibility for the unfortunate incident that impacted Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi so negatively in the 2023 Delta North Senatorial election and that Senator Ned Nwoko had absolutely no hand in the matter.

This rejoinder is strictly to address Mr. Iroroh’s post and is not at all about Comrade Fejiro Oliver (aka Tega Samson Oghenodoro) the Oguonota 1 of Africa).Of course it would have been quite tempting to suggest that while Senator Ned Nwoko, according to Mr. Iroroh may not require the assistance of Fejiro Oliver to clear what every Anioma person knew was a false accusation and needs to clear his own name by himself, we are nevertheless, also quite intrigued by the fact that this is exactly what he has simply done and those who have followed the crusading engagements of the intrepid F.O, will of course agree that his modus operandi in most of his advocacy, especially those involving EFCC and other anti-graft agencies, have always been the visible hand of Esau and the voice of an unseen Jacob.

That is why we must critically consider this voluble, disingenuous, full chested, playing the devil’s advocate exoneration with a full bowl of salt, especially now that the incumbent Delta North Senator has joined the same All Progressives Congress, APC, where distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi holds sway in the Senatorial zone.

To put Mr. Iroroh’s laboured justification in full perspective it will be important to note that: “The Devil’s Advocate” is a person who projects the opposite side’s opinion in a discussion or argument. The person playing devil’s advocate doesn’t actually agree with the position they are presenting but the purpose of playing devil’s advocate is to encourage people to consider different perspectives and discuss the idea in more detail.

On the contrary, in reply to some of the spurious falsehoods and misleading innuendos in Mr. Iroroh’s article.
We want to state categorically and without equivocation that-

1. Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was not mincing words when he alledged that Senator Ned Nwoko was responsible for his unsavoury experience with the judiciary and he stands very firmly and unshakably on his position, which he has declared at several fora like Mr. Iroroh pointed out. So no pretensions of playing the devil’s Advocate, would exonerate the indefensible.

2. Senator Ned Nwoko actually attempted vainly and half-heartedly to put up a defense when in February this year, he got the Inspector General of Police, IGP, to file a three-count charge against Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi in the Federal High Court, Abuja, over allegations of defamation, cyberstalking, and threats to Nwoko’s life, accusing Senator Nwaoboshi of violating the Cybercrimes Act 2015 by spreading harmful and false statements that reached a wide audience, including major Nigerian cities.

The case, registered under Charge No. FHC/ABJ/02/21/2025, names the IGP as the complainant and Senator Nwaoboshi as the defendant.

3. But in a swift and decisive response, Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi quickly slammed the door in their faces, by initiating contempt proceedings against the inspector-general of police (IGP), through his legal team, accusing the IGP of alleged violation of a court order and disregarding a court ruling that barred law enforcement agencies from arresting or detaining him.

The Court order according to his legal team, was issued by the Federal High Court in Abuja on July 17, 2024, in suit no: FCT/HC/CV/2916/2024 and motion no: M/9638/2024, and prohibited the IGP, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and other respondents from arresting or detaining Nwaoboshi until the final determination of the case before the court.

Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi’s legal team argued that it derives power from section 72 of the Sheriff and Civil Process Act to seek contempt proceedings for disobeying the court’s directive and described the IGP’s actions as “an affront to the judicial system and the principles of the rule of law.

“An order of court, whether right or wrong, must be obeyed unless set aside by the same court or overturned on appeal. Refusing to comply with a judgment or restraining order constitutes contempt of court,” the legal team said.

“Justice Kekemeke, in his order, stated that ‘the respondents, either by themselves or through their officers, agents, whosoever of whatsoever designation, are hereby restrained from further arrest or detention of the applicant until the final determination of the motion on notice.”

The court has set October 28, 2025, for the hearing of the substantive motion.

4. On the brazen arrogance which Mr. Iroroh surreptitiously engaged in a tirade of uncensored name calling, with unprovoked slanderous smears and other indignities, ranging from Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi’s sterling and meritorious sojourn as Delta PDP Chairman, to the unfortunate season of sponsored litigations against him which they have clutched as though their political lives depended on it and which has culminated in the erroneous and libelous description of the distinguished Senator as a “convict”, we confidently state the following and clear the impression thus:

i. It would be recalled that Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi in June 2021, was cleared and discharged by the Federal High Court in Lagos over a N322million money laundering charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi and associates had been accused in a two-count charge marked FHC/L/117C/18., the EFCC which alleged that the defendants committed the offence between May and June 2014, in Lagos. said to have acquired a property described as Guinea House, Marine Road, in Apapa Lagos, for the sum of N805million.

Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke held that the agency failed to prove the elements of the offences for which it charged the lawmaker. The judge also discharged Nwaoboshi’s two firms – Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd – on the same ground.

The defendants were arraigned in 2018 before Justice Mohammed Idris who was later elevated to the Court of Appeal. They were then re-arraigned before Justice Aneke in October 5, 2018 in a deliberately wicked and convoluted attempt to stop distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi from clinching the Delta North Senatorial ticket for a second term, (after taking the PDP ticket decisively and overcoming all odds against none other than Senator Nwaoboshi), which he did anyways and with an overwhelming landslide in the general election.

Infact, Justice Aneke, in his judgment, held that the prosecution failed to call vital witnesses and tender concrete evidence to prove the elements of the offences for which it charged the defendants.

ii. Recall also that The Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal on July 1, 2022 sentenced Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, senator representing Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, to 7 years incarceration and also ordered that his two companies, Golden Touch Construction Project Ltd and Suiming Electrical Ltd, be wound up in line with the provisions of Section 22 of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act 2021.

This ruling followed the success of the appeal by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, challenging the judgment of Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court which on June 18, 2021 2018 discharged and acquitted the defendants of a two count charge of fraud and money laundering.

But then, the Supreme Court in June 2023, freed Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi, quashed his 7 years sentence and completely invalidated the money laundering charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, preferred against him, ordering his immediate release from prison custody.

The Supreme Court, in a split decision of four-to-one, nullified the judgement of the appellate court and upheld the initial verdict of the Federal High Court in Lagos State, which discharged and acquitted Senator Nwaoboshi.

The apex court, in its lead judgement delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, equally upturned the appellate court’s decision against Nwaoboshi’s companies and held that the appellants were unjustly and maliciously prosecuted by the anti-graft agency for allegedly committing offences that were unknown to the law. It also held that the EFCC subjected the ex-lawmaker and his companies to needless criminal trial, in relation to a civil transaction.

Against the backdrop of these succinct clarifications, it becomes imperative to state that distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was falsely accused and erroneous incarcerated. The fact that he was cleared of all charges by the Supreme Court, the Apex Court in the land, means that his conviction was not only erroneous and ill conceived, it has now erased completely, any insinuation, reference and description, either by inference or direct pronouncement of “convict” or “ex-convict” in association with his name and reputation.

We therefore wish to inform and advise Mr. Iroroh, his “cohorts” and unfortunate co-travelers, that we shall from now on, be watching every media space keenly for any further reference to Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi in such derogatory terms, so we can quickly activate our legal team to bring immediate action against such slanderous and libelous statements. Let us quickly inform Mr. Iroroh and his vuvuzelas that we have in our archives, some scathing articles and press Statements from the Ned Nwoko Media directorate, in which Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi was slandered, libeled and called the most horrible unprintable names.

The proverbial Cybercrimes Act 2015 rain will not fall on only one man’s house, but will definitely fall on every house that uses the cyberspace and if Senator Ned Nwoko can institute an action through the IG of police, then nothing stops us too from excavating some of those threatening, insidious and cyber bullying articles for legal experimentation in the cybercrimes act, after all, what is good for the goose should also be very good for the gander. A word they say, is enough for the wise.

5. On Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi’s hard earned and electoral victories, let us take a moment to laugh uproariously at Mr. Iroroh, over the very pedestrian misrepresentation of the exciting political intrigues of that time, when he posited that: “Trouble started for Nwaoboshi when as the then Delta PDP chairman, was alleged to have said in one of Late Sir Tony Obuh’s rallies that *Obuh was the face of a new Delta State* that was after he had received the Guinea House gift from Uduaghan, who was pretending to be supporting Tony Obuh for Governor of Delta. SPON did not know that by making such a statement, he had invariably placed his finger in the anus of the Owa tortoise, who responded immediately by unleashing his dog (Fejiro) on SPON” What a watery, amateurish narrative.

To fully place the political mystique of Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi in it’s glittering prism, we must have to go way back to 2008, when he emerged as the Delta State PDP Chairman, after an outstanding career in the political and administrative spheres, which included stints as aide to late Governor Samuel Ogbemudia of old Bendel state, Chairman of Nigeria Railway Corporation, Special adviser to Governor James Ibori and Civil Commissioner for Agriculture and special Duties, before becoming the Delta PDP Chairman in 2008.

We are sure that Mr. Iroroh may not really remember the exciting days of the PDP when Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi established himself firmly as Chairman and championed the supremacy of the party, which not only led to his reelection for a second term in 2012, but compelled an awe-stricken Governor Uduaghan, serenading his unbelievable political tenacity, sagacity and survival instinct, like a cat with nine lives, changed Nwaoboshi’s nickname, during one of the enlarged PDP Caucus meeting in Government House, after his second term victory, to “Oracle turned Miracle”.

Let us also place on record that Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, was the first and loudest advocate for an Anioma Governor after the tenure of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and as Chairman of Delta PDP, he fought well reported and publicized running battles against those who wanted to truncate the dream and reality of an Anioma Governor in 2015.

His position was always neutral and unbiased and he was unflinchingly dedicated and unwaveringly committed to an Anioma Governor, no matter who eventually emerged as the favoured candidate, even while Governor Uduaghan as the leader of the party was initially propping the late Tony Obuh as his choice of Anioma candidate. Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi also attended most of the mock primaries organized at different times and diverse locations in the run up to the 2014 primaries for about 17 Anioma aspirants and encouraged each of them to build formidable political structures that would ensure an exciting race and ultimate victory for Anioma at the end of the day.

Eventually, Governor Uduaghan unceremoniously dropped Tony Obuh and started sponsoring an aspirant from Delta Central with the entire state might and resources at his disposable, and when it became glaringly obvious that Dr. Okowa had emerged as the more favoured and accepted as the Anioma aspirant of choice across board, Party Chairman Nwaoboshi ensured that he equally provided a level playing field for a free, fair, transparent and credible primary election for all contestants.

And when Senator Okowa emerged as the PDP party flag bearer for the 2015 gubernatorial election, distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi led from the front and was the undisputed leader and champion for the emergence of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as the historic first Anioma Governor of Delta State.

Thus for Mr. Iroroh to even suggest that Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi endorsed the late Tony Obuh to the anger of Governor Okowa, is not only glib, gullible and far fetched, it also exposes the lack of historical knowledge of Delta politics, which these neophyte media aides possess when discussing serious political situations. Infact, Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa share a chequered political relationship which dates even beyond the 2015 PDP guber primaries, but that is a story for another time and place and if the hapless Mr. Iroroh is not aware of this, then it is rather unfortunate that we cannot be of any assistance to him in his glorified ignorance.

6. On Senator Nwaoboshi’s Amazing Electoral Victories, Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has always lived a charmed, almost magical political life and one remarkable legacy he has set is that he is arguably the only political figure in the South South region, if not the entire country in this political dispensation, who resigned as party chairman and went all the way to the red chamber in the National Assembly becoming the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial zone in the Nigerian senate. And when he got to the Senate, even as a first timer,he was appointed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs; an appointment which left many gaping in awe and wonder at his political sagacity. What a man!

His journey to the Senate is as remarkable as the rest of his political trajectory. Hon Victor Ochei, who contested the PDP gubernatorial primary and placed third, had opted to join the Accord Political party and pick it’s Senatorial ticket for Delta North and It is a glowing testimony to Nwaoboshi’s overwhelming appeal and overall acceptance that the entire Delta North PDP family; members, leaders, stakeholders, all unanimously concluded that there was no better candidate to take over from Senator Ifeanyi Okowa than Peter Nwaoboshi and they would entrust the electoral and representative batton and fortunes of Delta North Senatorial zone to their party chairman, who has never held any national elective position before
.

In a nutshell Chief Peter Nwaoboshi scored 138 votes in the PDP, 2014 Delta North Senatorial primary, to defeat Paul Osaji: (87 votes), Doris Uboh (37 votes), Pascal Adigwe: (27 votes) and Mrs. Mariam Ali (4 votes).

Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi coasted home with a landslide victory in the 2015 Delta North Senatorial election, scoring 156, 604 votes, to defeat Victor Ochei of ACCORD (67, 580) and Kelvin Njideka of APC (4, 801).

Senator Nwaoboshi also clinched the 2018 PDP Primary for his second term ticket, scoring 506 votes, to defeat Ned Nwoko, (453 votes) and Paul Oseji: (216 votes.). He then went on to retain his Senatorial seat for a second term by scoring 186,423 votes to beat Doris Uboh of the All Progressives Congress, APC who polled 36,360 votes to second position.

However, this same Ned Nwoko, deploying his usual underhand dark arts and clutching a strange and unknown copy of the Delta North PDP October 2, 2018 primary election result, which was probably forged, dragged INEC, PDP, and Senator Nwaoboshi before the Federal High Court in Abuja, through his counsel Ahmed Raji, praying for an order to stop INEC from publishing or further publishing the name of Senator Nwaoboshi as the candidate for Delta North Senatorial District and also asking for another order compelling the PDP to forward his name to INEC as the authentic candidate of the party for the senatorial district in the 2019 general election.

Nwoko had claimed among others that at the end of the primary election he scored 453 votes to defeat his closest rival, Peter Nwaoboshi who scored 405 while Paul Osaji came third with 216 votes, but that to his surprise, the PDP jettisoned the result of the primary election and forwarded Nwaoboshi’s name as its candidate for the Senatorial District. He further disclosed that all efforts to redress the injustice through the party’s appeal panel were unsuccessful.

In their defense, the respondents attacked Nwoko’s suit on the grounds that it was statute barred since it was not filed within the 14 days provided for by law and also claimed that the suit constituted an abuse of court process since the plaintiff had earlier filed a similar suit at the Federal Capital Territory High Court which was struck out.

Presiding Justice Ahmed Mohammed in his Judgment however held that the suit was not statute barred, that he had jurisdiction to entertain the suit and that Nwaoboshi who is a serving senator was not the winner of the October 2, 2018 PDP primary held to select a candidate for the 2019 general election. He subsequently ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish the name of Ned Nwoko as the candidate of the PDP, having established the fact before the court that Nwoko scored a majority of the lawful votes at the primary election.

The court also ordered Senator Nwaoboshi to desist from parading himself as the candidate of the PDP for the senatorial zone.

But it was to be a pyrrhic, fleeting victory for the smart Alec Nwoko, as Senator Nwaoboshi promptly and swiftly Appealed the Federal Court Judgment and challenged the judgement which nullified his nomination as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Delta North senatorial district election, listing five grounds of appeal, which included the claim that the learned trial judge of the Federal High Court erred in law when he held that the suit was not caught by the 14 days rule in section 285 subsection (9) of the Fourth Alternation to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Amended), as the primary election, which was the subject matter of the suit was conducted on October 2, 2018 and the 14 days allowed started running on the same October 2, 2018 when the primary election took place.

The grounds of appeal also listed the aspirants and their scores at the said primary election as follows: Paul Osaji, 216; Senator Peter Nwaoboshi (appellant), 506; Prince Ned Nwoko (First Respondent), 453; adding that the appellant clearly emerged winner with the number of votes polled as against that of the first respondent.

Senator Nwaoboshi, therefore, sought an order setting aside the judgement of the Federal High Court Abuja delivered on April 3, 2019 and in a decisive ruling on May 30, 2019, the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal nullified the April 3, 2019 judgment of the Federal High Court, Abuja which sacked Senator Peter Nwaoboshi and reinstated him as the Peoples Democratic Party’s senator-elect for the Delta North Senatorial zone, just in the nick of time to be physically present at the hallowed Senate chambers when the National Assembly was inaugurated in June 2019.

The Appeal Court, in a unanimous judgment of a three-man panel led by Justice Adamu Jauro, held that the lower court’s judgment was a nullity because the court wrongly assumed jurisdiction to hear the case filed by Nwoko.

Justice Mohammed Idris, who read the lead judgment of the panel, held that the suit by Nwoko was statute-barred and that Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Abuja ought not to have heard the case in the first place. Justice Idris noted that the case was filed outside the 14 days allowed under Section 285(9) of the Constitution for the institution of pre-election cases.

“Therefore, the trial court had no jurisdiction to entertain the action. Having come to this conclusion, we allowed the appeal, we set aside the decision of the trial high court and we struck out the suit,” he held.

Other members of the panel – Justices Adamu Jauro and Emmanuel Agim – agreed with the lead judgment authored and delivered by Justice Idris.

And thus ended Ned Nwoko’s surreptitious attempt to sneak into the Senate through the back door in 2019. It is therefore little wonder that distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi would openly and categorically accuse Senator Nwoko of masterminding the litigation that cost him the 2023 Delta North Senatorial race.

On Saturday, May 28, 2022, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, having crossed over to the All Progressives Congress, won the APC primary election that took place at the Sports Arena of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, the state capital.

The Oracle-turned Miracle of Anioma Politics, as he is fondly and popularly called, as well as the incumbent senator representing Delta North, was returned unopposed, scoring the complete 317 votes of the accredited delegates because he had no challenger in the party’s primary election.

As had been revealed earlier, the same dark forces at play in the 2019 Federal High Court debacle conspired and were once again activated and on July 1, 2022, Senator Nwaoboshi, who was fully poised to return to the Senate in 2023, was stealthily and clandestinely removed from the election equation and was away for the entire duration of the campaigns and general elections, until the matter was settled once and for all by the Supreme Court in June 2023, long after the elections had taken place in February.

For the records, the result of the Delta North 2023 Senatorial election according to the INEC returning officer for the elections, Dr. (Mrs) Josephine Anene-Okeakwa, reads like this: Hon. Ned Nwoko scored a total of 92,514 to narrowly defeat the Labour Party candidate, Mr. Kennedy Onochie Kanma scored 86,121. Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, of APC, who did not even campaign for one day and was not present on election day proper scored 36,816 votes.

Infact, we laughed hilariously at the silly, yet quite naive demand when we read Mr. Frank Iroroh demanding foolishly that “Nwaoboshi should apologize to the most distinguished senator, Ned Munir Nwoko, for labeling false allegations against him.”

The point is that if you add the 36, 816 votes of Senator Nwaoboshi who did not even participate in the election to Ken Kanma’s 86121 votes, you will get a total of 122, 937 votes, which is exactly 30, 423 votes more than Ned Nwoko’s 92, 514 votes and those who followed the election keenly would agree completely that Labour party, with the massive surge which they swept Oshimili in particular and delivered Lawrence Okolie to the House of Representatives, were quite capable and poised to do same in the Senate if not for the 36, 000 votes Senator Nwaoboshi took from them in his Oshimili stronghold.

So, as a matter of fact, it is actually Senator Ned Nwoko who should apologize for all the shenanigans and the staccato political frenzy he has been displaying since he decided to join APC, paying homage and bringing gifts to the great Oracle turned Miracle regularly, for his 2023 victory in the Delta North Senatorial election. Of course there’s no gainsaying the fact that it would have been a completely different story if distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi had been physically present and participated fully in the elections.

And now that we have comprehensively and painstakingly dissected and situated all contending issues in their proper context let us in conclusion, revisit the matter of playing the devil’s advocate which Mr. Frank Iroroh is doing for Fejiro Oliver and which quite amusingly but in a refreshing kind mien, the Oguonota 1 of Africa has done for Prince Ned Nwoko by shielding him from blame in the past travails of distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

Let’s just say by way of rounding up that, whether Ned Nwoko contributed or did not contribute to what happened in 2022 to Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi is a matter that has long been overtaken by events, especially given the fact that the incident happened when Nwoko was in PDP but today he is in APC. Perhaps Mr. Iroroh and Fejiro Oliver are trying through this very predictable gambit, to either appeal to the good virtues of Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi to consider the new man in the party with a softer mindset, or better still it is a very gray and outdated attempt to decipher Distinguished Senator Nwaoboshi’s feelings concerning the incarceration. All the same, it is all well and good.

However, all this playing the devil’s advocate and looking for something that is not there is quite honestly just a complete waste of time and my dear Mr. Iroroh and the gallant you should collect whatever the effort is worth and devote their time more to mending the cracked fences and walls in APC with their subsequent articles.

Ned Nwoko will eventually realize that all politics is local and when the time comes those who own the real structures in the party will show themselves.

Court asked to declare Ned Nwoko’s senate seat vacant over defection to APC

A suit has been filed before the Abuja federal high court seeking to declare the seat of Ned Nwoko, the senator representing Delta north, vacant after he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The case, marked FCH/ABJ/CS/325/2025, also urged the court to direct the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a bye-election within 60 days of delivering judgment to fill the seat, which would be made vacant.

The plaintiff, Marvis Ossai, a constituent and member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), argued that Nwoko’s continued stay in office after leaving the opposition party violates the constitution. He maintained that there was no division within the PDP at the time of Nwoko’s defection, making his switch to the APC unconstitutional.

“That the ideology of the 1st defendant’s new party, All Progressives Congress (APC), to which the 1st defendant now fully subscribes, does not bear any similarity or represent the political philosophy of the People’s Democratic Party (which is the basis upon which the plaintiff resolved to cast his vote for and elected the defendant in 2023),” the plaintiff averred.

“That the conduct of the defendant in defecting from the People’s Democratic Party to All Progressives Congress has dealt a major blow to the fortunes of the Plaintiff’s Party, the People’s Democratic Party.”

The suit names Nwoko, INEC, PDP, and the senate as defendants.

Through his legal team, led by Johnmary Jideobi, the plaintiff seeks several declarations and orders, including a declaration that Nwoko’s senate seat is vacant in line with section 68(1)(g) of the 1999 Constitution and referencing the supreme court ruling in Abegunde v. Ondo state house of assembly (2015) 8 NWLR Part 1461 Page 314.

He is also seeking an order cancelling Nwoko’s certificate of return issued by INEC and directing the lawmaker to refund all salaries, emoluments, and allowances received since January 2025 to the consolidated revenue fund of the federation.

The plaintiff is also seeking disqualification of Nwoko from contesting any election until he complies with the court’s judgment.

He also wants an order mandating the senate to immediately implement the court’s ruling.

The case is yet to be assigned to a judge for hearing.

Nwoko formally joined the APC on February 5.

The senator’s formal defection was contained in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on the floor of the red chamber. The lawmaker informed his colleagues that he defected from the PDP because of the crisis in the party.

DISCLAIMER – RE: NOTICE OF INAUGURATION OF DELTA APC LEADERSHIP COUNCIL

We, the undersigned, are shocked and outraged to discover our names inexplicably linked to a purported Delta APC Leadership Council in a Notice of Inauguration signed by Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., which is currently in circulation.
We categorically and unequivocally deny any involvement, association, or knowledge of this council, and we condemn in the strongest terms the blatant and egregious attempt to falsely affiliate us with this illegitimate and unconstitutional entity.
The creation of this council is a flagrant and reprehensible affront to the constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the principles of democracy. Its establishment is a brazen and unauthorized act that contravenes the party’s constitution and the laws of Nigeria. The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that it did not grant approval for the inauguration or operation of this council, contrary to their claims.

Furthermore, we do not support the proposal that the College of Leaders should nominate party executives and select party candidates. This proposal contradicts our party’s constitution, which grants the power to elect party executives and nominate candidates solely to registered members. Our party’s constitution and extant laws clearly outline the democratic process for electing party executives and candidates, leaving no room for the College of Leaders to usurp this power.

We therefore strongly object to our names being surreptitiously included in this document without our knowledge, consent, or participation. This is a clear and blatant violation of our rights, and an attempt to maliciously drag us into an illegal and unconstitutional venture. We will not allow our names to used to legitimize this sham contraption.

We uphold the sanctity of the APC constitution, which emphasizes the supremacy of the party constitution for effective governance and promoting its ideals. We recognize and support all the organs established by the constitution for our state, including:
• State Congress
• State Executive Committee
• State Caucus
• State Working Committee
• Senatorial District Committee
• Local Government Area Congress
• Local Government Area Caucus
• Local Government Area Committee
• Ward Congress
• Ward Executive Committee
• Polling Unit Committee.
These organs are the legitimate and constitutional bodies that govern the affairs of the party.

While the creators of this contraption have the right to establish their own structures or pressure groups to advance their interests, they have no right to include our names without our consent. We will not participate in or support their illegitimate and unconstitutional activities.

We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its constitution. We will continue to work tirelessly to promote the party’s interests, unity, and values. However, we will not recognize or subscribe to any non-constitutional organ, regardless of its name or claims.

We demand that our names be immediately and unconditionally excluded from any documents or publications related to this council. We also demand that the creators cease and desist from using our names to lend legitimacy to their illegal venture.

We urge all party members and stakeholders to reject this illegitimate council and its unconstitutional proposals. We must stand together to protect our party’s democratic foundations and uphold the rule of law.

Delta Highly Solvent On Account of Oborevwori’s Financial Mgt Abilities – Aniagwu

By:  Newsbreeze

Delta State Government has said the state is very solvent and able to meet up its financial obligations as they fall due because of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s financial management abilities anchored on fiscal discipline, prudence and accountability.

The State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, stated this in an interview on a live television programme monitored in Asaba.

Aniagwu disclosed that Governor Oborevwori’s greatest asset was being underrated by naysayers, adding that by his governance philosophy, the Governor had continued to confound his critics with tangible proofs and accolades across the state and country.

According to him, Governor Oborevwori is likened to that book that almost everybody judged by its cover and by the time they attempted to open the book they discovered that it’s not written in french language but in pure English.

“All the facts that you need to know about certain things that you thought are not possibly available in that book are all put together in that book.

“One of Oborevwori’s greatest assets is the fact that he is underrated, his financial management abilities is almost second to none

“Let me inform you that even as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly for six years at the end of his tenure he returned N500 million unspent funds to the state coffers so when you look at the story of people who are usually there as politicians in different levels you will understand what that means.

“When we thought that was a flash in the pan that maybe it was just one of those things but we didn’t know that that is his pure characteristics and leadership style.

“When we say that Delta today is solvent we are not solvent because we contracted a native doctor to help us preserve our funds.

“We are solvent because Oborevwori is demonstrating a whole lot of accountability and prudence in the management of our resources.

“Two weeks ago when we had our first EXCO meeting for the year 2025 we approved projects worth over N275 billion naira. Not only that we approved those projects, the governor was also magnanimous for us to proceed to mobilize each of the contractors wit 40 percent of the contract sum.

“We have been doing that since he came in and that is why you can see that a number of these projects are moving with speed

“Beyond the issue of giving out this 40%, there are a number of projects that are on Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO), where in which case every month, certain amount of funds kicks in.

“The moment you present your certificate in terms of milestones, the state pays.”

Mr Aniagwu remarked that Governor Oborevwori was not just funding projects, the state government had not borrowed a dime but had paid loans obtained by previous administrations to the tune of N240billion.

“First of all not only that Delta is not borrowing under the Oborevwori administration, he has paid over N240 billion in the last 20 months to service or defray existing contractual obligations as well as some other funds that came in form of loan in the past.

“So for you to know that he is not only just funding infrastructure today I’m not too sure you have heard of anybody going to the streets to protest that they have not been paid pension.

“Oborevwori’s prudence is such that he works hard to properly preserve government funds for the good people of the state, by cutting off a whole lot of things that could have led to wastages.

“For instance there was another novel approach he brought to prudence and financial management where he proposed a reduction in the profit margin for some contracts upon 40 percent mobilisation.

“He argued that since the state usually provide contractors 40% mobilization, we are first of all saving them the agony of raising cost of funds should they have proceeded to go to any financial institution to ask for such funds.

“When we looked at these parameters from just about five different memos, we were able to save N4.5 billion, yet the contractors were still very much interested in carrying out such projects.”

Commissioner Aniagwu further said Oborevwori was carrying out the projects across the three senatorial districts without sentiments.

“There are so many things that he has done in terms of taking on big projects, in terms of carrying the three senatorial districts, irrespective of ethnic differences along.

“Of course, Delta is a multi-ethnic state. Irrespective of even political affiliation, he’s carrying everybody along.

“That is why you see that even when the few pockets of opposition speak to certain issues that are at variance with reality, Oborevwori doesn’t waste time responding to those issues.

“He only concentrates more on the projects as a means of response to those criticisms and today, all we ask people is, tell us your local government and then we will tell you what Oborevwori is doing there.”

Aniagwu said Governor Oborevwori introduced a novel approach to budget that was equitable, fair and just, adding “the Governor was able to come up with a novel idea in our budgeting approach and good enough, my Ministry was saddled with that responsibility of implementing certain funds across the 25 local government areas.

“In 2024, we provided one billion for roads alone and that is a specific intervention, because that is not the only amount we provided, but for specific intervention so that even if you don’t have a big man or you don’t have anybody speaking for your local government, that fund is there and must be spent in your local government.

“Having seen the magic in terms of the level of infrastructure we are able to implement using that model, in the 2025 budget, Governor Oborevwori directed that over N2.1 billion should be be provided for the purpose of short intervention across the local government areas.

“It might interest you to note that even the EXCO we had less than two weeks ago, we approved projects across more than 80% of the local governments in Delta, in one EXCO.

“So anybody who wakes up and says they have no idea of what we are doing, we don’t even need to say what are you talking about.

“We say please, can you tell us your local government so let us even know whether you are among those who doesn’t visit home.”

On alleged depletion of PDP members to All Progressives Congress APC, Aniagwu likened the situation to the football transfer window for those who may have performed poorly and were afraid they will not get their party’s return ticket for another term.

“For us in Delta, we are not disturbed and like I said, our concentration at the moment is governance and that is what we are doing.

“Those who are playing politics may be Idol enough to play but we are busy delivering democratic dividends to our people”.

Abiola Won June 12 Presidential Election -Ex-Military President Babangida Give Reasons He Annulled The Elections

The former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), has openly admitted that the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola won the June 12, 1993 presidential election conducted by his government.

General Babangida’s public admission is contained in his autobiography titled “A Journey In Service”, which was launched in Abuja on Thursday.

Providing insights into the book, the reviewer, former Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, SAN, said General Babangida acknowledged that the late MKO Abiola, who contested the presidential election on the platform of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), secured the majority of votes and the geographical spread to be the president.

Osinbajo said the autobiographer described the June 12 election annulment as the most challenging aspect of his life.

Osinbajo said: “He (Babangida) also answers the question whether Abiola actually won the June 12 election, and I quote him, ‘although I am on record to have stated after the election that Abiola may not have won the election, upon deeper reflection and a closer examination of all available facts, particularly the detailed election results, which are published as an appendix to this book, there was no doubt that MKO Abiola won the June 12 elections.”

He, however, said that he was happy that President Muhammadu Buhari later acknowledged that Abiola won the election and honoured him with the greatest national honour of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), which is reserved for Presidents.

The event, which is still ongoing at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja, was chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and attended by President Bola Tinubu; former Heads of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon; Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar; former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar, and Arc. Namadi Sambo, among others.

Federated Grassroots Newspaper Publishers Mourns Pa Ayo Adebanjo

By: Precious Erugo

The National President of Federated Grassroots Newspaper Publishers Network(FGNPN) Pastor (Dr) Dike Awana, has described the passing of foremost Afenifere leader and staunch Awoist, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, as a monumental loss. He likened the late Yoruba leader to an Iroko tree, whose voice resonated across Nigeria.

Dr Awana, in a condolence message to the bereaved family and the entire Yoruba nation , noted that Chief Ayo Adebanjo was a rare breed of a nationalist who came, saw and conquered.

“We received with great shock the news of the passing of a foremost Yoruba son—an uncompromising leader, a repository of political history in Yorubaland, and an apostle of true federalism—the late Pa Ayo Adebanjo,” Awana said.

“His death is a monumental loss, creating a void in the socio-political space and depriving the Yoruba people of a strong voice in national affairs. In his passing, we have lost a great deal, considering his modest lifestyle, wisdom, and outspokenness.”

He stated that late Pa Ayo Adebanjo was reputed to be an incorruptible leader who fearlessly spoke truth to power, adding that his firm criticism of corruption and bad leadership put him in a class of his own.

“We have lost a leader—an unapologetic Awoist, a man who spoke truth to power—you can understand the magnitude of the loss,”

The National leader of all Grassroots Newspapers in Nigeria further stated that Pa Ayo Adebanjo’s wise counsel to the authorities on issues of national interest helped to shape the political, social and economic life of the nation, even as he remained an out-spoken crusader whose voice could not be suppressed till death.

While urging the bereaved family to take solace in the fulfilled life lived by their departed patriarch, Dr Awana prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.

Federated Grassroots Newspaper Publishers Consoles Clark’s Family, Ijaw Nation Over Transition of E. K. Clark

By: Precious Eurgo

The National President of Federated Grassroots Newspaper Publishers Network( FNPN) Pastor (Dr) Dike Awana, said it received with deep shock, news of the death of Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, foremost Ijaw/South-South Leader and Nigerian elder statesman, saying “he will be sorely missed”.

In a statement in Benin, Edo State, endorsed by its National President, Pastor (Dr) Dike Awana, and Secretary, Tom Ogan , noted that “Chief E.K. Clark, was a colossus who swept through the socio-political landscape in Nigeria, in his glorious career in Nigeria as Teacher, Attorney, State and Federal Commissioner, Senator and Entrepreneur. A scion of the Clark-Ambakederemo dynasty, of Kiagbodo in Delta State, Chief E.K. Clark not only raised a formidable extended family that is arguably first-eleven in Nigeria, he was himself a towering personality that is the pride of the Ijaw nation where he hails from.

With remarkable cerebral prowess, Chief Clark, was a mobile library and a treasure trove of socio-political history that both young and the older generations drew recalls”.

According to the Federated Grassroots Newspaper Publishers Network( FNPN), “Chief Clark while a relentless advocate of rights of his Ijaw/Niger Delta people especially in the twilight of his life as PANDEF leader and a defender of the downtrodden everywhere, he was bold, fearless and dedicated to justice, national cohesion and development which earned him the prestigious titles of the Officer of the Federal Republic, OFR and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON)”.

“We are gladdened that Clark’s life and times constitute resource and research materials for scholars on the pathway to selflessness, nationalism and promotion of education for family and nation building. We are consoled that he has tutored a few persons, who, we hope, will gradually grow into the very big shoes that he left behind in the Ijaw nation”, the IJAW statement noted.

“We condole with the late Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark’s immediate family, the good people of Kiagbodo, his hometown, the government and people of Delta State, the Ijaw nation, the Niger Delta and indeed the Nigerian nation over the great loss.

While urging the bereaved family to take solace in the fulfilled life lived by their departed patriarch, Dr Awana prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
