In a remarkable show of generosity and community development, three major transformer units in Igbuzo have received approval to be equipped with brand-new 500kVA transformers, courtesy of Pastor Idowu Okeze. The announcement, delivered through the committee set up by Pastor Okeze, has brought joy and relief to residents of the benefiting areas.
The communities set to receive the new transformers this December are:
1. Ogbeowele Transformer Unit 1 (Federal Girls Junction)
2. Ashianta Umueze
3. Umuodafe Bypass (near Chief Ifeanyi Asiodu’s residence)
The committee, after careful deliberation, highlighted the reasons behind the selection of the three units:
A. Ogbeowele Transformer Unit 1:
Members of the committee noted that this transformer had undergone multiple repairs in recent months, rendering it largely inefficient. Given that the transformer also powers a major event centre and surrounding homes, a replacement was deemed urgent to ensure stable electricity during the festive season.
B. Ashianta Umueze:
This unit faces challenges similar to those of Ogbeowele, with repeated faults and insufficient electricity supply. The committee agreed that a brand-new transformer would significantly improve power distribution in the area.
C. Umuodafe Bypass (By Chief Ifeanyi Asiodu’s House):
This area has never had its own transformer, leading to heavy dependence on overloaded neighbouring units. The new transformer will ease the burden and provide long-awaited relief for residents.
The committee also disclosed that the old transformers from Ogbeowele and Ashianta may be reassigned to zones with immediate needs. For instance, the Ogbeowele transformer may be relocated to down Mountain of Fire axis, while the Ashianta unit could support the down Umueze area, helping to balance electricity distribution across Igbuzo.
Handing-over dates will be communicated to the benefiting communities in the coming days. The committee assured residents that the transformers are brand-new, already filled with oil, and ready for installation. Once connected, they will immediately begin supplying electricity, with technical arrangements already underway to ensure a smooth transition.
Residents have hailed the gesture as a timely blessing, especially during the busy festive season. Many described it as yet another testament to Pastor Idowu Okeze’s unwavering commitment to the development of Igbuzo and the well-being of its people.
