The Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has solicited the continued intervention of the Delta State Government in the maintenance of Federal roads in the state

The Delta State Federal Road Maintenance Engineer, Onimogo Lukman Okulola, made the appeal when he led the management team of the Federal Agency on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Staff to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, at Government House, Asaba.

Engr. Okulola noted that the State Government had been committed to making Federal roads across the state motorable, citing the construction of the Asaba – Ughelli dual carriage way, the palliative rehabilitation of the Agbor – Abraka – Eku and the Benin – Sapele road.

He said the Agency was prepared to deliver on its mandate, pointing out that the visit was to familiarize the Government of Delta State with the activities and challenges of FERMA in the state and seek closer collaboration.

Responding, the Chief of Staff to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, thanked the FERMA team for the visit, which he said would help to strengthen the relationship between the State Government and the Agency.

Hon Erijo said government had taken up the challenge of making Federal roads in the state motorable because it believed that Deltans needed the roads to go to their places of choice, even as the Federal Government was not forthcoming with making refunds to the state

He advised the Agency to collaborate with the State Ministry of Works, Ministry of Urban Renewal, Direct Labour Agency (DLA), Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Warri, Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency, to ensure a well coordinated road maintenance in the state
