The Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Chapter, has honoured the Cido Asthma Foundation for its exceptional humanitarian service as the first free Asthma hospital in Delta State, offering completely free treatment and long-term care to patients across the state.
Â
The award highlights the Foundation’s remarkable commitment to saving lives, especially among low-income families who struggle to access proper asthma care. The hospital founded by Obi Nwaokocha Okeze Foundation and professionally managed by Dr. Pat Adigwe, has become a beacon of hope for thousands of residents living with asthma and related respiratory conditions.
Â
Cido Asthma Foundation provides full medical support without charging a single naira, including free inhalers, free medications, free consultations, and continuous follow-up care to ensure every patient recovers fully and remains stable.
Â
Beyond its hospital-based services, the Foundation regularly undertakes free asthma outreach missions to rural communities, towns, and hard-to-reach areas across Delta State, identifying patients, offering treatment, and educating families on asthma management and prevention.
Â
Presenting the award at the ACNPN Annual Conference, the leadership of the association praised the Foundation for its “unmatched dedication to grassroots healthcare” and its role in reducing avoidable asthma-related deaths in the state.
Â
They described the Cido Asthma Foundation as a “model of service, compassion, and medical excellence,” noting that its continuous outreach programmes demonstrate a rare commitment to community health.
The recognition is expected to further spotlight the Foundation’s work and encourage more partnerships to expand free asthma care across Delta State and beyond.
