As the world marks the 2026 edition of International Nurses Day today, the CIDO Asthma Foundation has joined millions across the globe in celebrating nurses for their unwavering dedication, compassion, and invaluable contributions to healthcare delivery.
International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 12, the birth anniversary of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale. The day is set aside to recognize the sacrifices, commitment, and critical roles nurses play in saving lives and improving healthcare systems worldwide.
In a goodwill message released to commemorate the occasion, the Coordinator of the foundation, Dr. Pat Adigwe, praised the nurses of the foundation for their hard work, professionalism, and selfless service to humanity.
Dr. Adigwe, speaking on behalf of the Chairman and the entire membership of the foundation, described the nurses as the backbone of healthcare services rendered by the organization, noting that their dedication has continued to impact positively on patients and communities battling asthma and other respiratory challenges.
According to him, the commitment and tireless efforts of the nurses have helped the foundation sustain its humanitarian and healthcare interventions across different communities.
He further commended the nurses for remaining steadfast in the discharge of their duties despite the numerous challenges faced within the healthcare sector
Today, we celebrate our nurses who have shown exceptional dedication, compassion, and commitment to duty. Your sacrifices and tireless service to humanity remain highly appreciated by the Chairman, management, and members of the foundation, he stated.
The foundation also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting healthcare professionals and promoting quality healthcare services for the benefit of society.
