The people of Illah community have lauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for mobilising contractors to site and ensuring steady progress on the long-awaited Otu-Umutei/Monastery Road project in Illah.

Work on the road has advanced to the stone-base stage, ahead of priming and asphalting, as contractors intensify efforts to complete the project before the onset of the rainy season. The current level of progress, community leaders say, confirms that the project is fully back on course after years of abandonment by previous administrations.

Residents attributed the renewed momentum to the consistent follow-up and interventions of the Member representing Oshimili North Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwah, whose sustained engagements with Governor Oborevwori and the contractors have continued to yield visible and verifiable results on the ground.

The community expressed optimism that the road, once completed, will significantly boost economic activities in the area, particularly for farmers and market traders who rely heavily on the route for the transportation of goods and farm produce.

They noted that the road is of strategic importance, not only to Illah but also to neighbouring communities across Delta North and adjoining parts of Edo State.
According to the residents, the Otu-Umutei/Monastery Road is a critical economic lifeline that had suffered prolonged neglect, and its revival under the Oborevwori administration underscores the governor’s commitment to responsive and people-centred governance.

They praised Governor Oborevwori as a “talk-and-do” leader who listens to the yearnings of the people and translates promises into action, while also commending Hon. Esenwah for effective representation and tireless advocacy on behalf of his constituents.

With construction work progressing steadily, the people of Illah expressed confidence that the project will be completed within schedule, reaffirming their support for the state government’s development agenda.
