Vigil Mass Held in Abuja for Late Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi

A solemn vigil mass was on Thursday evening held in honour of late Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Maitama, Abuja, drawing an array of political leaders, associates, family members, and admirers from across the country.

The candle-lit service was marked by deep reflection, heartfelt tributes, and prayers for the repose of the soul of the late lawmaker, who until his passing remained a prominent political figure in Delta State and a respected voice in Nigeria’s National Assembly.

Officiating priests described the late senator as a devoted Catholic and a committed public servant whose life reflected resilience, courage, and dedication to service. In his homily, the presiding priest urged the congregation to reflect on the brevity of life and the enduring value of impactful service to humanity.

“Senator Nwaoboshi lived a life of influence and conviction. As we pray for him today, we are reminded that what truly matters is not how long we live, but how well we live and the legacy we leave behind,” he said.

The church auditorium was filled to capacity as dignitaries, including serving and former lawmakers, government officials, political associates, business leaders, and members of the Delta State community in Abuja, gathered to pay their last respects.

Several speakers at the vigil extolled the leadership qualities of the late senator, describing him as fearless, outspoken, and unwavering in his commitment to the development of Delta North and the nation at large. Born into a respected family in Delta State, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi rose through the ranks of public service to represent Delta North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, where he earned recognition for his bold advocacy and strategic political influence.

As preparations continue for his final interment, tributes have continued to pour in from across political divides, reflecting the far-reaching impact of his life and career.
