Chief Daniel Chukwudozie :Giving back to the host communities and the society result in business success

[dropcap] S[/dropcap]ome leaders are born, some achieve leadership, some have leadership thrust upon them, while only very few have all three embedded in them.Chief (Dr) Daniel N. Chukwudozie, the founding Chairman, Dozzy Group of Companies, the trail-blazing business mogul and industrialist par excellence from Okija , Anambra State, is one of the few good men. He is an embodiment of cerebral articulation, the essence of unparalleled philanthropy, the epitome of intellectual and breathtaking simplicity. The personification of undiluted humanness, the perfect example of leadership symbolism, the paragon of idealism, the soul of humanity, the heart of warrior, the perfect gentleman. It is certainly impossible to gloss over his attributes for greatness. He is a perfect gentleman, a man of valour, the bringer of rain. In the gallery of great leaders and great men, he is without doubt, a rare masterpiece.

Chief (Dr) Daniel N. Chukwudozie
CEO, DOZZY GROUP OF COMPANIES

Dozzy Group is an indigenous conglomerate birthed by the vision of Sir Chukwudozie who went into business in 1982 as a trader. The trade metamorphosed into a company under the name of Dozzy Nigeria Limited  dealing in belt and general goods imported from Europe and Asia. As a workaholic and a man who is always craving to explore new grounds in business, Chukwudozie established Dozzy Oil and Gas Limited and subsidiaries including: Speciality Oil Company Nigeria Limited, Dozzy Plastic Industries Limited, Dozzy Gut-troff Gas Limited, Lubricant Manufacturing Oxygen/Industrial Gas Production, Industrial automotive household as well as high precision plastic products, manufacturing wigs/hair attachments, artificial human hair and oil and gas supply and distribution. He believes in empowering people and has a workforce of over 2000 staff. It only takes a serious and patriotic group in the present circumstances to build a petroleum product storage depot that is capable of handling 120million liters of assorted petroleum products at once hence the facility that was built in Calabar by Dozzy Group has helped to address the scarcity and the attendant high prices of petroleum products in most of the South-South, South-East and parts of Northern Nigeria.”

Chukwudozie has also demonstrated notable cordial relationship with staff and regulatory bodies, customers and suppliers. He once said: “We are not the loud type and except for the serious operators in the down-stream sector of the petroleum industry, many Nigerians may not even know that we are a force to reckon with in the marketing and distribution of petroleum products and lubricants.  Sir Chukwudozie believes in  development of his state that is why Dozzy Investment Ltd, a subsidiary of Dozzy Group recently signed an MoU with Anambra state government to build another 1, 000 housing units in Awka at the cost of N12.4 billion. Dozzy Investments Ltd has the capacity to develop and manage property, which is mainly housing development. Dozzy Group is expected to build four-bedroom detached duplexes, five-bedroom detached duplexes with a two-room auxiliary buildings, among others.

On his philosophy of life, he said that “Leadership mentoring culture, suitable team, unique and reliable product and service delivery channels, conformity of product and service with international and national standards and policy of giving back to the host communities and the society result in business success as well as impacts society.”In its profile, the Mission of the Dozzy Group is to “ excel and maintain a strong lead in the various types of businesses we engage in, through a strong and consistent emphasis on high quality and social responsibility”.

Dozzy Group aspires to be one of Nigeria’s best regarded conglomerates, measured by their performance and driven by a total commitment to their core values and philosophies. About a year ago, this trail-blazing business mogul and industrialist par excellence from Okija  completed and handed over a magnificent three-storey school building in honour of his late Mother, Lady Hannah Ugoyibo Chukwudozie, Mama Dozzy to the Anglican Church, Diocese on the Niger. We all know that wealth can never satisfy man’s want but an act of charity to the glory of God could leverage one’s name for eternity. Chief Chukwudozie’s has become a monumental asset for the memory of not only her late mother but for the remembrance of the family name for good and challenged Christians to always take positive steps at all times to immortalize their names for Christ. We eulogised Dozzy oil CEO for not being carried away by money and all that money could buy and remembered to continue to register his name in the annals of history to the glory of God.
Nigerians were not surprised when the University of Calabar and Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effuru, Delta State on March 11 and March 14, 2017 respectively conferred on him honorary doctorate degrees in Business Administration (honoris causa); and he has also received many honours and awards from various media,The Grassroots Newspaper Publishers that honoured him as the Industrialist of the year. BIAFRA: Group commends FG for declaring IPOB terrorist organization

Proscribes IPOB

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he South South Reawakening Group (SSRG) has commended the Federal Government for declaring the Independent People of Biafra as a terrorist group, saying that the primary responsibility of government is to safeguard lives and property of its citizens.

National Convener of the group, Mr Joseph Ambakederimo in a press statement in Warri, Delta state, said the group wholeheartedly supports President Muhammadu Buhari for the steps taken so far on the IPOB menace, adding that when national security is at stake the liberty of any individual or the right of any group of persons takes the back seat.

He said, “The President BUHARI government is proactive and the action taken so far is in line with what any well meaning and sitting government would have done. The issue of national security should be devoid of politics, because the issue to safeguarding lives and property is the primary responsibility of any govt.

“lnfact the designation of the IPOB as a terrorist organization is long overdue. We have on record (tape) where the self professed supreme leader of IPOB in a forum in the United States solicited for Arms and Ammunition to fight the Nigerian state. We are sure millions of Nigerians have seen even more damning recordings of the IPOB group, yet nothing was done by his people to denounce or proscribe the group. Nothing is more treasonable than what we have seen and heard as a people from Nnamdi Kanu.”

The group urged government to also beam its search light on other such amorphous groups in all parts of the country and proscribe them or designate them as terrorist groups if necessary saying that the federal government should begin to crackdown on anti-State actions in order to stem the tide of downward slope to anarchy.

“The law says it is only members of the armed forces, police and other paramilitary personnels that are allowed to bear arms, yet you find every Tom Dick and Harry carrying guns as if law and order has broken down in the country. Anyone other than the prescribed group of persons bearing arm should be termed as a criminal and therefore be treated as such.

“There is Rule of law in this country and all Nigerians must obey the laws of the land no matter your status or standing in society. We are not uncivilized people neither is Nigeria a jungle. We should all remember what happened in Rwanda a few years back and stop this hate that we spread around. It is an ill wind that will blow no one any good,” Ambakaderimo.

He said that no government that knows its onion will sit back and allow miscreants and charlatans to hold everybody to ransom, just as he called on parents to talk to their sons and daughters to spare Nigerians the agony of war.

“For the south East Governors, I say it is a shame that you all have allowed this matter to degenerate to this level for the government to designate IPOB a terrorist organization before the action you have taken. It is a pity that you governors and many of your fellow south easterners do not know the constitutional procedure to adopt on matters of this nature.

“It will not be out of place if all of you Governors are held responsible and in contempt and accessory to this crime. All of you Governors hide under IPOB to divert the people’s focus from your incompetence, non performance, avarice and greed. For us in the South South reawakening Group, President Buhari is magnanimous not to have declared a state of emergency in the south east states, the President would have done that and let the heavens fall. The IPOB and their backers cannot continue to pull all of us along the road to Golgotha.

“For the young men and women who devote a better part of their life span to engage on this meaningless crusade we say have a rethink and contribute your quota to the development of Nigeria rather than dissipate your energies to chase a mirage. We urge the youths of the south east and the country at large to hold our leaders accountable and demand for good governance. Don’t allow your tomorrow to be squandered today by some mediocre who parade themselves as political leaders while their children leaves in the comfort of their mansions in Europe and some other parts of the world . Let us all join hands across the length and breadth of this country and demand for good governance, probity and accountability and go on to show love to one another.

“No one tribe should be seen to be dominating others we are all equal at every given time as all bad people are found in all ethnic groups. For us to hold a section of this country as responsible for all of our problems is to say the least uncharitable. We should not loose cognizance of the resoluteness of the Arewa youths who have shown restraint to accommodate the agents provocateurs so far. We therefore urge the Arewa youths to continue to exercise restraint in the face of deliberate provocations and accommodate all and sundry.

“It is unfortunate that eminent personalities, professors, legal luminaries and captains of industries that abound in the south east including the leadership of the ohaneze allowed themselves to be led and brought to disrepute in the IPOB imbroglio. In other climes such as CANADA, Catalonia, part of Spain that has been agitating for breakaway do it through their elected representatives in parliament. Why have we as a people always do the opposite to actualize our aspirations instead of following due process.

“Our last word is that we should all show love for one another and live in peace and work assiduously for the progress of Nigeria. The energy that we dissipate in trying to go to war should be channeled to build a more prosperous Nigeria. The destiny of one tribe is in the hands of all,” the statement reads.

P SQUARE FINALLY SPLIT UP

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]amous Music Duo, PSquare have finally split, and it has been confirmed. Below is how LIB is reporting it: Here’s what happened! Peter sparked speculation recently that all was not well with him and his twin brother/business partner – Paul after he referred to himself as Mr. P (his personal brand name).

He also dropped cryptic messages on Instagram, one of it addressing how no one’s opinion should matter about something that makes you happy. Though no names were mentioned, Paul Okoye replied in a post via his own Instagram page, talking about how the birth of his twins was making someone jealous and restless.

He accused the person of having sleepless nights, and also indirectly called out Peter’s wife Lola – saying; “Only a woman can come where there’s peace and destroy it. Try me this time, I swear Nyash go open. You will know that blood is thicker and stronger than juju.”
LIB can now exclusively confirm that Peter has sent a termination letter to their lawyer Festus Keyamo (SAN), demanding for a termination of the agreement between Psquare. In the letter (which LIB has obtained), he defends his decision by making some serious allegations against his twin Paul and older brother/group manager Jude.

According to Peter, Paul is no longer willing to co-operate with him, even going as far as cancelling their planned US tour this year without informing him, and he (Peter) has exhausted all options to make it work. He also accused Paul of slandering his wife and children with lies on social media, and alleged that they’ve now been receiving threatening messages.

Peter further accused his older brother Jude of once threatening to kill him and shoot his wife Lola. This allegedly happened in the presence of Paul and former first lady of Cross River state Mrs Imoke. Jude allegedly also threatened to bring a coffin for him (Peter) if he ever comes near his house.

Peter insists that he has had enough of the drama and wants out of the Psqaure group and contract. The singer who now refers to himself as Mr. P, stated that he loves his brothers and their families, and he wishes them the very best in their careers. However he cannot betray his wife and kids as they are very important to him.

FG To Start Trial Of Boko Haram Suspects Next Month

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Federal Government will begin the trial of Boko Haram suspects detained in military camps from next month and the cases will be speedily handled, the Federal Ministry of Justice said on Sunday.

“All is now set to begin the arraignment of suspected Boko Haram suspects in various detention facilities in the country,” a statement said, adding that this would start on October 9.

Troops-Arrest-Boko-Haram

Justice Minister Abubakar Malami has assigned government prosecutors while defence counsels would be provided by the Legal Aid Council, it said. The ministry said 1,600 detainees will be tried early next month, adding that judges who would “expeditiously” handle the cases had been chosen.

Despite claims by the Nigerian security forces that thousands of Boko Haram suspects have been arrested and were in custody, diligent prosecutions and convictions have been rare. The most high-profile case currently in court is that of Khalid al-Barnawi, a leader of the moribund Boko Haram offshoot, Ansaru, on charges of abducting and murdering a number of foreign workers.

Nigeria’s military and government maintain Boko Haram has become a spent force after more than two years of sustained counter-insurgency operations, including with neighbouring Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

Boko Haram which seeks to impose a strict Islamic legal system in Nigeria’s mainly-Muslim north has killed at least 20,000 people and forced some 2.6 million others to flee their homes since 2009, sparking a dire humanitarian crisis in the region.

NUPENG ADVISES ON PLANS TO SHUT REFINERIES FOR OVERHAUL

                                                                                     PRESS RELEASE

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has advised on the planned shut-down of the nation’s three refineries at the same time for complete overhaul. The Union commends the Buhari administration for the political will to rehabilitate the refineries but warned that it will not tolerate a situation whereby workers jobs are jeopardised.

It believed that the two-unions in the Oil and Gas sector, NUPENG and PENGASSAN with other stakeholders should be taken along in the new arrangement in order to forestall industrial action.

It stated that the union had all along clamoured for the Turn-Around-Maintenance of the nation’s three refineries but advised that it should be done in such a way that the workers jobs are protected.

NUPENG added that the plan closure and TAM should not be used for enriching some cronies because of the astronomical volume of monies that will be involved.  The Union therefore calls for a monitoring committee to oversee all aspects of the overhaul.

The Union warned that it will not tolerate a situation where workers will be used as guinea pigs or eased out under the guise of a complete shut-down of the three refineries.

It stressed that the period should be used to train and re-train the workers to meet the new challenges that will be faced after the overhaul.

It added that the move is a good step in the right direction towards local self sufficiency in petroleum products by 2019, but must be done in a manner that human capital is protected.

Council Election: Gov. Okowa’s trial time

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he upcoming Delta State local government council election may tear the party apart if the leaders of PDP in the state fail to trade with caution. Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa had earlier promised Deltans that this forth coming local government election is not going to be by appointment or selection by leaders as practiced before by PDP, and Deltans believed the Government of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa because he was neither appointed nor imposed on Deltans even when his predecessor Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan refused to support his ambition.
Gov.Okowa told Deltans at one of his campaign rallies that he is the most popular and experienced candidate and that he does not need the anionting of then government of Dr. Uduaghan to be governor of Delta State;all he wanted then was for the PDP authority to conduct a free and fair primaries in the state and his prayer was answered as free and fair primaries was organised and he defeated both government and anointed candidate of then governor. On this note, Deltans expect Gov. Okowa to stage a free and fair primaries in all twenty-five local government areas of the state and shun the evil advice of some political leader who believe in appointment and imposition of candidates because Deltans are wiser now and any attempt to impose or appoint candidate as usual will tear the party apart.

Gov. Okowa

The Grassroots Publishers online learnt from a reliable source that there is a grand conspiracy against the wish of the people by some PDP political leaders; that the incumbent Chairmen and Councillors who are loyal to them and not to Deltans (masses) will be re-elected as they did not make (loot) a lot of money from their various council’s treasury because of recession. Most of these unscrupulous Chairmen and Councillors are now using our amiable governor’s name to deceive the general public saying that the governor and leaders have agreed for their return so as to make more money. The question on the lips of every Deltan is “Are these Chairmen and Councillors interested in service to humanity or looting”? A similar scenario occurred in Ibusa axis of Oshimili North local government area of Delta State when an outgoing Councillor in company of some PDP Ward Excos came to a PDP leader begging and pleading for return as according to the Councillor “I did not achieve my aim of acquiring cars and houses as a Councillor representing my Ward because there was no enough money” and the leader replied the Councillor by asking “Are you there for selfless service to humanity or to acquire cars and houses?”. The Councillor could neither answer the question nor alter a word as he obviously knows their aim of returning to seat is to loot and share the council’s treasury.
For how long will Deltans continue to live in the hands of these selfish and wicked politicians who are only after their personal pockets and not the development of Delta State? Deltans want Gov. Okowa to write his name in gold by giving all party members who are interested in running for any position a free and fair opportunity and not by imposition, writing of names or hand picking as done by previous administrations. It is so unfortunate that most Chairmen cannot declare publicly their monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the past three years. Most of the council’s IGR are not accounted for as they are either diverted to the Chairmen’s personal pockets or their agents. If this happens in Delta LGAs, how can such men and women be re-elected in the name of party loyalty? It is a shame that most of our Chairmen cannot diversify the council’s economy in order to increase IGR rather they all depend on monthly allocation from the state and use the little IGR made from the council to enrich themselves. Deltans need men and women who are ready to rescue the falling councils and not treasury looters who do not have vision or foresight of what grassroots governance is all about.Enough is Enough!

Delta LGA Election: The war cry of marginalization in Oshimili North LGA

—For 20 Years, the North -North Axis are yet to represent the LGA at the State House of Assembly

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ince the beginning of second republic, Nigerian political scene has been saddles with many intolerance mostly ethnic and tribal intolerance, due to our inherent heterogeneous society and this had further led to the political zoning of offices and positions which originally was planned out to be an arrangement in which political offices are rotated to ensure that no part of any political configuration is short-changed but this particular scenario is not embraced by leaders of Oshimili North L.G.A of Delta State which comprises into two political zones: Ibusa axis and Nort-North axis. Identity in Oshimili North LGA is a complex equation but in other for vested interest to sustain the political war cry of marginalization, they must invoke the crudest, most simplistic and reductionist definitions of Oshimili North-usually in terms of the fabled Ibusa axis and North-North axis dichotomy. The war cry of marginalization requires the persistence of the myth of monolithic Ibusa axis even though the Ibusa axis is more political diverse than the North-North axis. Today, apart from Ibusa axis, people from the North- North claim to be marginalized but what does it really mean to be marginalized.

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa

Summarizing the definitions from a number of dictionaries, the word “marginalize” means to threat someone or something as if he/ she is not important; It also means to keep or keep someone away from centre of action. Finally, it means “to relegate someone or a group of people to a lower edge of a community or society”. The North-North axis has been marginalized politically as it is unbelievable that for the past 20 years, Ibusa axis has taken the House of Assembly as their birthright despite the Memorandum of Understanding, (MoU) signed by the leaders of the local government that there must be a shift of power for both House of Assembly and local government chairmanship positions but the MoU signed many years ago is just a mere theory and document which the Ibusa axis has refused to implement. Since 1999, Dr. (Mrs) Nwaeze represented Oshimili North at the Delta State House of Assembly between 1999 to 2008 (8years) and Hon. Princess Pat Ajudua has been representing since 2008 till date. Does it mean there is no other competent person to represent Oshimili North apart from Ibusa axis? The North –North axis has already forwarded a communiqué to our amiable Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa , stating their stand and also appeal to him to stop this war cry of marginalization by North-North axis of Oshimili North local Government. The North-North axis has reputable political leaders, a leader like Hon. Emeka Madu has lamented about this total marginalization of the North-North zone and they have vowed they to put an end to this political cheating come 2019 at the expiration of Hon. Pat Ajudua’s third term tenure which will make it 20 years the Ibusa axis has been representing Oshimili North since 1999.The North-North axis has totally rejected the position of chairmanship despite the fact that the current chairman, Hon. Louis Ndukwe who has declared his intention for re-election for the forthcoming local government election but based on the recent Oshimili North elders meeting which was held with Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi representing Delta North Senatorial District. At the meeting, majority of the North-North leaders rejected the chairmanship position and stood their ground saying that the North-North axis must represent Oshimili North in Delta State House of Assembly and nothing can stop it. I feel delighted that my people are now waking up from their political slumber by not mortgaging the voice of the entire North-North axis of Oshimili North LGA. We want to call on Hon. Louis Ndukwe to forget contesting for re-election into the chairmanship position but should rather go for House of Assembly which is our rightful turn the North-North axis is not ready to back anybody from the zone contesting for the position of chairmanship as anyone going for such is going on political suicide and does not represent the interest of the zone.  Enough is Enough!
