President Buhari back in Abuja after stopover in London

President Muhammadu Buhari

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]resident Muhammadu Buhari on Monday returned to Abuja after participating in the 72nd Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The President’s aircraft landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 7.p.m, where he was received by top government officials including his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

The President, on Sept. 21, left New York at about 8.05a.m for JFK International Airport for his onward journey back home via London, United Kingdom. While in New York, the president presented Nigeria’s National Statement at the UNGA and thereafter had meetings with President Donald Trump of the United States and the King of Jordan, Abdullah II.

Buhari also met with the President of Ghana, Mr Kuffour Addo and the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres. The Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, had told State House correspondents that President Buhari’s appearance in New York was “worth the while” and immensely beneficial to Nigeria particularly Jordan’s donation of 200 armoured vehicles to Nigeria under generous terms.

He said Buhari held bilateral talks with the different leaders on various areas of cooperation.

He also called for the cooperation of world leaders to facilitate the recovery of stolen assets. “Through our individual national efforts, state institutions are being strengthened to promote accountability, and to combat corruption and asset recovery. “These can only be achieved through the international community cooperating and providing critical assistance and material support. “We shall also cooperate in addressing the growing transnational crimes such as forced labour, modern day slavery, human trafficking and cybercrime.’’

The president had also proposed a delegation of the United Nations to North Korea leader, Kim Jong-un, to pressure him to end the nuclear crisis which he described as the greatest threat to mankind.

Buhari said diplomatic efforts must be brought to bear on North Korea to ensure a peaceful resolution of the crisis. North Korea recently increased the pace of its nuclear weapons development in defiance of all entreaties to halt the programmes. Buhari said: “The most pressing threat to international peace and security today is the accelerated nuclear weapons development programme by North Korea.

“Since the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, we have never come so close to the threat of nuclear war as we have now.

“All necessary pressure and diplomatic efforts must be brought to bear on North Korea to accept peaceful resolution of the crisis. “As Hiroshima and Nagasaki painfully remind us, if we fail, the catastrophic and devastating human loss and environmental degradation cannot be imagined.

“Nigeria proposes a strong UN delegation to urgently engage the North Korean Leader. According to the president, the delegation, led by the Security Council, should include members from all the regions. “The crisis in the Korean peninsula underscores the urgency for all member states, guided by the spirit of enthroning a safer and more peaceful world, to ratify without delay the Treaty prohibiting nuclear weapons, which will be opened for signature here tomorrow,’’ he added.

The president also drew the attention of the world body to the suffering of the Muslim minorities, the Rohingyas in Myanmar, accusing the government of that country of carrying out ethnic cleansing against them.

Speaking about new conflicts and the need for the world body not to lose sight of old ones including the Palestinian question, the president regretted the humanitarian situation in Myanmar which he said was reminiscent of the situation in 1995 Bosnia and 1994 Rwanda.

The President, in the statement, had also assured the international community of Nigeria’s firm and unshaken commitment to democracy in the country and the African continent. He said this commitment to democratic ideals became profound with Nigeria leading ECOWAS’ effort in the restoration of democratic governance in The Gambia and Cote D’Ivoire. President Buhari has since retired to his official residence in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

RRS Commander : Fighting violent crimes to make Lagos habitable for its residents

ACP Tunji Disu and RRS Squad

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ervice is like a candle light; all eyes behold it while it shines and illuminates the surrounding. Eyes blink whenever it flippers and eyes are worried with disappointment when the candle light extinguishes. That is the simple life of every security personnel especially police officers in service to the society.  All eye are on the police officer. The performance of a police officer is often like a seed. The way you plant it could determine how it would germinate and  be harvested. The harvest could be unto shame, or of ovation and commendations.

In the history of the Nigeria Police, many officers have shamefully left the organisation and many more have left memorable footprints, great legacy. For the later type, many people have continued to remember their good  deeds  and wonderful services.Nigerians are a people who appreciate good services especially in public office.

Today, it is the Commander of Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), ACP Tunji Disu an Assistant Police Commissioner is being appreciated by the people of Lagos state in a grand style. Rapid Response Squad (RRS) came into being in 1999 under the visionary leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the then Governor of Lagos State, as a child of necessity, with a clear mandate to fight violent crimes in making the ‘Centre of Excellence’ habitable for its residents. The RRS was furthered strengthened during the administration of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN) who set up the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) in 2007 and created a Public-Private Partnership to fund the huge investment required to support security operations in the state. And in keeping faith in crime-fighting, officers and men have left no one in doubt that they are capable with the requisite capabilities at their disposal to respond swiftly to crimes in all parts of the state.

The name ACP Tunji Disu is known as a quintessential Police officer with a knack for operational activities.  As the

commander of  the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS),  He did not allow his police disposition to overshadow his judgment while handling crime cases. He balances his professional activities based on human rights requirement and the fear of God. His milk of human kindness flows towards both the complainant and even on suspects that are being denied justice. He believes a criminal must have his day of reckoning and through its operational impact has continued to wage relentless war against criminals and this resulted in several arrests of criminals in the state.

As the Commander Rapid Response Squad (RRS),Police men serving under him are more motivated due to his leadership qualities and the people and the government noticed this extraordinary police officer who took joy in ensuring that criminals operating in  and around Lagos State were tracked down. Police  Officers should always see every of their postings as a national call not , only to duty but to wholeheartedly serve  the country and its citizenry as ACP Disu is presently doing at moment . It is a lesson depicting the major essence of  Nigerianess , which is our oneness.

ACP Disu is the kind of police officer the country yearns for; the type of police officer any government with a zero tolerance for criminality would always embrace and celebrate.  An officer made of stainer stuff, a good manager of people and a good example of the slogan” Police is your friend”  and a detribalised police officer.

We all know that wealth can never satisfy man’s want but an act of charity to the glory of God could leverage one’s name for eternity. Chief Chukwudozie’s has become a monumental asset for the memory of not only her late mother but for the remembrance of the family name for good and challenged Christians to always take positive steps at all times to immortalize their names for Christ. We eulogised Dozzy oil CEO for not being carried away by money and all that money could buy and remembered to continue to register his name in the annals of history to the glory of God.

BIAFRA: Group commends FG for declaring IPOB terrorist organization

Proscribes IPOB

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he South South Reawakening Group (SSRG) has commended the Federal Government for declaring the Independent People of Biafra as a terrorist group, saying that the primary responsibility of government is to safeguard lives and property of its citizens.

National Convener of the group, Mr Joseph Ambakederimo in a press statement in Warri, Delta state, said the group wholeheartedly supports President Muhammadu Buhari for the steps taken so far on the IPOB menace, adding that when national security is at stake the liberty of any individual or the right of any group of persons takes the back seat.

He said, “The President BUHARI government is proactive and the action taken so far is in line with what any well meaning and sitting government would have done. The issue of national security should be devoid of politics, because the issue to safeguarding lives and property is the primary responsibility of any govt.

“lnfact the designation of the IPOB as a terrorist organization is long overdue. We have on record (tape) where the self professed supreme leader of IPOB in a forum in the United States solicited for Arms and Ammunition to fight the Nigerian state. We are sure millions of Nigerians have seen even more damning recordings of the IPOB group, yet nothing was done by his people to denounce or proscribe the group. Nothing is more treasonable than what we have seen and heard as a people from Nnamdi Kanu.”

The group urged government to also beam its search light on other such amorphous groups in all parts of the country and proscribe them or designate them as terrorist groups if necessary saying that the federal government should begin to crackdown on anti-State actions in order to stem the tide of downward slope to anarchy.

“The law says it is only members of the armed forces, police and other paramilitary personnels that are allowed to bear arms, yet you find every Tom Dick and Harry carrying guns as if law and order has broken down in the country. Anyone other than the prescribed group of persons bearing arm should be termed as a criminal and therefore be treated as such.

“There is Rule of law in this country and all Nigerians must obey the laws of the land no matter your status or standing in society. We are not uncivilized people neither is Nigeria a jungle. We should all remember what happened in Rwanda a few years back and stop this hate that we spread around. It is an ill wind that will blow no one any good,” Ambakaderimo.

He said that no government that knows its onion will sit back and allow miscreants and charlatans to hold everybody to ransom, just as he called on parents to talk to their sons and daughters to spare Nigerians the agony of war.

“For the south East Governors, I say it is a shame that you all have allowed this matter to degenerate to this level for the government to designate IPOB a terrorist organization before the action you have taken. It is a pity that you governors and many of your fellow south easterners do not know the constitutional procedure to adopt on matters of this nature.

“It will not be out of place if all of you Governors are held responsible and in contempt and accessory to this crime. All of you Governors hide under IPOB to divert the people’s focus from your incompetence, non performance, avarice and greed. For us in the South South reawakening Group, President Buhari is magnanimous not to have declared a state of emergency in the south east states, the President would have done that and let the heavens fall. The IPOB and their backers cannot continue to pull all of us along the road to Golgotha.

“For the young men and women who devote a better part of their life span to engage on this meaningless crusade we say have a rethink and contribute your quota to the development of Nigeria rather than dissipate your energies to chase a mirage. We urge the youths of the south east and the country at large to hold our leaders accountable and demand for good governance. Don’t allow your tomorrow to be squandered today by some mediocre who parade themselves as political leaders while their children leaves in the comfort of their mansions in Europe and some other parts of the world . Let us all join hands across the length and breadth of this country and demand for good governance, probity and accountability and go on to show love to one another.

“No one tribe should be seen to be dominating others we are all equal at every given time as all bad people are found in all ethnic groups. For us to hold a section of this country as responsible for all of our problems is to say the least uncharitable. We should not loose cognizance of the resoluteness of the Arewa youths who have shown restraint to accommodate the agents provocateurs so far. We therefore urge the Arewa youths to continue to exercise restraint in the face of deliberate provocations and accommodate all and sundry.

“It is unfortunate that eminent personalities, professors, legal luminaries and captains of industries that abound in the south east including the leadership of the ohaneze allowed themselves to be led and brought to disrepute in the IPOB imbroglio. In other climes such as CANADA, Catalonia, part of Spain that has been agitating for breakaway do it through their elected representatives in parliament. Why have we as a people always do the opposite to actualize our aspirations instead of following due process.

“Our last word is that we should all show love for one another and live in peace and work assiduously for the progress of Nigeria. The energy that we dissipate in trying to go to war should be channeled to build a more prosperous Nigeria. The destiny of one tribe is in the hands of all,” the statement reads.

P SQUARE FINALLY SPLIT UP

[dropcap]F[/dropcap]amous Music Duo, PSquare have finally split, and it has been confirmed. Below is how LIB is reporting it: Here’s what happened! Peter sparked speculation recently that all was not well with him and his twin brother/business partner – Paul after he referred to himself as Mr. P (his personal brand name).

He also dropped cryptic messages on Instagram, one of it addressing how no one’s opinion should matter about something that makes you happy. Though no names were mentioned, Paul Okoye replied in a post via his own Instagram page, talking about how the birth of his twins was making someone jealous and restless.

He accused the person of having sleepless nights, and also indirectly called out Peter’s wife Lola – saying; “Only a woman can come where there’s peace and destroy it. Try me this time, I swear Nyash go open. You will know that blood is thicker and stronger than juju.”
LIB can now exclusively confirm that Peter has sent a termination letter to their lawyer Festus Keyamo (SAN), demanding for a termination of the agreement between Psquare. In the letter (which LIB has obtained), he defends his decision by making some serious allegations against his twin Paul and older brother/group manager Jude.

According to Peter, Paul is no longer willing to co-operate with him, even going as far as cancelling their planned US tour this year without informing him, and he (Peter) has exhausted all options to make it work. He also accused Paul of slandering his wife and children with lies on social media, and alleged that they’ve now been receiving threatening messages.

Peter further accused his older brother Jude of once threatening to kill him and shoot his wife Lola. This allegedly happened in the presence of Paul and former first lady of Cross River state Mrs Imoke. Jude allegedly also threatened to bring a coffin for him (Peter) if he ever comes near his house.

Peter insists that he has had enough of the drama and wants out of the Psqaure group and contract. The singer who now refers to himself as Mr. P, stated that he loves his brothers and their families, and he wishes them the very best in their careers. However he cannot betray his wife and kids as they are very important to him.
