Enough Of Recycling, Oshimili North needs “Men Liberation” come 2019

Hon. Innocent Esewezie

[dropcap]O[/dropcap]shimili North is endowed with young talented people who are doing great in their various fields, stemming from engineering down to sciences, arts, education, trading, agriculture, entertainment, fashion, banking just name, except politics. It is no longer news how the average Oshimili North youths lack political recognition.

The very few young people who are admitted into the corridors of political power today, are just there for formality because they are not part of decision and policy makers, rather they are tools been used by the so called political gladiators (The same old politicians from time immemorial).

While some of the said youths are being used as political thugs, others are used as errand boys and girls in the names of Personal Assistants, Legislative Aides, Special Assistant on this matter and that matter. But I am here to say that enough is enough.

Enough of recycling hence it is high time the Oshimili North youths stand up to their rights by taking their place in leadership, come 2019 let the old ones give way and the youths be given the mantle of leadership.

Let’s draw examples from western countries such as Europe, America and Asia, there is a paradigm shift, young leaders are emerging and providing resourceful and purposeful leadership. From Emmanuel Macron of France to Saleh Ali al-Sammad of Yemen not forgetting Vanessa D’Ambrosio of San Marino, Europe, for goodness sake, she is just 29. Yet Africa is still lacking behind this has to stop come 2019.

Oshimili North Youths have the charisma, political prowess, dexterity, foresight and innovations to lead. This is because they are abreast with what is happening in and around the world. The fact that Oshimili North has been stagnated by virtue of recycled politicians is enough for us to cry for a change.

We can’t keep electing the same set of politicians and expect significant development (Its like doing same thing over and over again expecting different result). NOOO! Enough of the recycling of women. Let us give the Oshimili North youths a chance in the upcoming election to save us from this abject poverty and restore Oshimili North  to light. God has blessed us with natural resources which we ought to be enjoying the dividends now.

The time is now for Oshimili North to be great again. Let us support our creative youths…. Is a good thing that our own Hon. Innocent Esewezie is willing to contest for the Oshimili North House of Assembly.  We owe him our maximum support if not for anything let us test a youth with power. Lets give him the needed support because he has showed us what he can do when given the chance. Considering his achievements and contributions to Oshimili North land. I believe and I know you believe he will do the unimaginable if we send him to represent us. Vote for a youth.  Hon. Innocent Esewezie is the HOPE OF  YOUTHS.

Let the elders play advisory and counseling role while the youths be in power because it is easier for a youth to meet an elder for advice and counseling. The time has come when Oshimili North needs ‘MEN LIBERATION’ because since 1999 , women have been representing Oshimili North in the Delta State House of Assembly. Let give Ozigbo Ozigbo a chance now.

Oshimili North will be great again.

Mob razes Onicha-Olona Police station over alleged killing of motorcyclist in Delta

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]andemonium broke out, on Tuesday, at the agrarian community of Onicha-Olona in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State where irate mob set a police station ablaze. The action of the mob was in reaction to the death of a middle-aged motorcycle operator who was alleged killed by a trigger-happy police officer.

The police officer was alleged to have demanded N100.00 from the deceased commercial motorcyclist at a check point along Issele-Uku/Mkpitime road. But the motorcyclist, it was gathered, refused, hence the police officer allegedly opened fire on him at close range, and the impact led to instant death.

He said gone are the days of people taking laws into their hands and carrying out jungle justice. He added that the burnt police station was built by community effort and it was criminal of the youths to have razed the police station in the community.

Alexis: I joined Man Utd to ‘win everything’

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Chile international has explained his reasons for leaving Arsenal for Old Trafford, believing the Red Devils have what it takes to claim trophies .Alexis Sanchez insists he left Arsenal for Manchester United because he believes he has a better chance of winning “everything” at Old Trafford.

The Chilean’s future had been the subject of speculation for months, particularly since entering the final year of his Arsenal contract in July.A move to Manchester City collapsed in late August, forcing Alexis to remain at the Emirates Stadium as his contract continued to wind down.

City again looked to sign him in January, but United provided the Chile international with a better offer and his eventually linked up with Jose Mourinho’s men on January 22 as Henrikh Mkhitaryan went the other way.

And Alexis has now been given the chance to explain the motives behind his move, with trophies in his sights.

Speaking to Sky Sports , he said: “I think that Manchester United, since I was young – and I’m not just saying this because I’m here, I’m an honest guy and I never lie – I think it’s the biggest club in England. That’s what I think.

“There are lots of big clubs, and having played for Arsenal, they are also one of them. It’s a huge club and I was there.

“But coming here, looking at the badge, I think United have to win everything because it’s such a big club. The club crest says it all.

Kogi governor earmarks ’10 000 hectares in Ajaokuta & 5,000 hectares in Adavi’ land for cattle colony

Governor Yahaya Bello

[dropcap]G[/dropcap]overnor  Yahaya Bello of Kogi State yesterday  presented documents of 15, 000 hectares of land earmarked for cattle colony to the Federal Government.Presenting the acceptance document to Agriculture Minister, Audu Ogbeh, Bello said the state would pilot the cattle colony programme.

The governor said that 15,000 hectares of land have been mapped out in two local government areas of the state for cattle colony. Bello said 10,000 hectares of land had been earmarked for cattle colony in Ajaokuta Local Government Area and 5,000 hectares in Adavi Local Government Area.

According to him, the quest to key into the programme was to accommodate the youth, herdsmen and farmers without conflicts and add value to the economic wellbeing of the people.

The governor said the state and its people were ready to ensure the success of the initiative. He explained that the state government would gradually pay compensation to citizens that donated their land for the programme.

According to him, the state has budgeted sufficient fund to ensure the smooth take-off of the programme in the areas of security and equipment.

Ogbeh commended the state government for keying into the cattle colony initiative stating that the country currently has an estimated 19.5 million cows.“This is about courage. We have an estimated population of 19.5 million cattle now. If we have every individual keeping a ranch, it is an average population of 300 cows per herd. We need 1,711 ranches in every state, and 633,333 ranches in the country.

“The land belongs to states under the Land Use Act and we don’t have any intention to colonise them.“I do hope that when the programme works, other states will key in,” the minister said. On debates that cattle business is private and should not gain government’s support, Ogbeh said the government had also supported crops production in the country.

According to him, cattle contribute six per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

80% Of Policemen Provide Personal Security For Prominent Nigerians – AIG

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5, Rasheed Akintunde, says only 20 per cent of policemen are engaged in protecting lives and ensuring peace in the country.
Akintunde said: “The remaining 80 per cent are just busy providing personal security to some ‘prominent people’ on guard duties.”
Akintunde said this on Thursday while addressing officers and men of the Police Headquarters in Bayelsa, during his tour. He decried the situation where some prominent people in the society seek more than 30 policemen to protect them, while the bulk of work for the members of the force rest on protecting the masses.
He said: “Every big man wants personal security; they want a number of policemen to come and secure them and their family members, instead of supporting the police to work and ensure a safer environment.
“Honourable members want police security, even Reverend Fathers, Bishops now want police security, so the remaining 20 per cent police the whole country.
“If we can redistribute policemen from some government formations and deploy them to work on their core duty, it will yield positive result.’’
The AIG, however, urged all the officers in the command to be on their toes and be committed to their duties.
He also reminded them of the need to do their jobs with integrity and exhibit high level of professionalism in order to create good image for the force.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Don Awunah, while welcoming the AIG, promised to ensure that the officers and men of the command remained focus on their duty of protecting lives and maintaining law and order in the state.

Political crisis rocks Aniocha North, As Legislative Leader Beats Clark, Absconds With Mace

Hon. Chuks Oseme

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he yet to be abated political crisis rocking the Aniocha North local government area of Delta state has taken a new dimension as the leader of the legislative Arm Ekene Nwaonye allegedly thrown dignity to the wind and beat up the Clark of the House, Mrs. Ifeoma Igbordo.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that trouble started Thursday after the House concluded its sitting when Mr. Nwaonye requested that the Clark handover the mace, the symbol of authority to him but Mrs. Igbordo refused, leading to her being allegedly beaten up by the angry leader.

“When the Clark refused to handover the Maize to him, he decided to forcefully take the mace from her but the Clark refused which resulted into argument. The leader then bounced on the Clark and torn her clothes in a bid to get possession of the mace and he forcefully took the mace from her and entered into his car and zoomed off”. our source said.

it was gathered that the clark then reported to her husband who formally launched the complaint at the Issele-Uku Divisional Police Station and the office of the Department of Security Service (DSS), who stormed the council in a bid to apprehend the fleeing lawmaker. As at the time of filing in this report, news of his arrest is still sketchy; however our source said the leadership of the council was on top of the matter.

Confirming the incident, the media assistant to the council chairman, Mr. Matthew Nwanaza, told our correspondent that the chairman, Mr. Chuks Oseme, was unhappy over the development.

It would be recall that political crisis brewed in the Council following alleged fight between the council chairman, Oseme, the member representing Aniocha North constituency in the state Assembly, Emeka Nwobi and the sacked commissioner for culture and tourism, Dan Okenyi, following power tussle of who controls the council. A faction of the councilors were inaugurated Monday 15th January 2018, by Mr. Nwobi and Mr. Okenyi at the council secretariat, Issele-Uku with Nwobi’s loyalist, Ekene Nwaonye of ward 8, installed as the leader of the legislative arm without the consent of the council boss, Mr. Oseme.
