I want to be a transformational Ibusa Youths Leader -Asiodu

Comrade Ifeanyi Asiodu
President, Ibusa Youth Council

[dropcap]C[/dropcap]omrade Victor Ifeanyi Asiodu is someone who looks up for direction even as he continues to soar higher by the special grace of God. A compassionate leader who has consistently for years continues to make people happy. He is Humble, jovial, loving, generous, easy going, accommodating etc. He is a man that allows people to express their views on any given issue before coming up with his decision even as a boss or leader.

Comrade Victor Ifeanyi Asiodu is the newly installed President of Ibusa Youth Council,IYC; the umbrella body of all youth organisations in Ibusa. In this exclusive interview with Grassroots Publishers online, Asiodu inspired with a vision to create a platform where young people in Ibusa will be deliberately empowered with the skills, drive and character required to be a transformational leader.

Excerpts:

Comrade, Recently you were installed as the new President of Ibusa Youths Council. Can you throw more light on how this came about?

To the glory of God, the election issue has permanently come and gone. I contested with my brother and at the end of the day “No victor, no vanquished”. we are one united family now and  we have come together as one big family for the progress of Ibusa youths.

The Youth body has always been a target for politicians who use it for their political interest. What are you doing to make the IYC the authentic voice for Ibusa Youths?

Everywhere in the world, youth constituencies are a major political target for numerous reasons. Politicians will continue to romance youth organizations, associations and so on but the challenge is how do we participate in politics? What role do we play in the game of politics?  What do politicians perceive of youths when politics is discussed?

The participation of youths in politics has outgrown using them as political thugs, ballot snatchers, and mere campaign crowds. The fact remains that any country desirous of a prosperous future would take youths engagement beyond political machinations. The Ibusa Youth Council under my watch would be more concerned about youth participation in governance which is in synchronization with youth participation in politics.

We hope to see more youths elected and appointed into offices rather than fighting one another in the name of politics. To lead the apex youth body in Ibusa is a tasking responsibility but with God Almighty, this administration shall succeed beyond expectation. I had the grace to have risen through the rank and file of youth activism, from being a community youths leader to ethnic youth leader, now the youth President.

With the experiences gathered over time and the support from the council, we would have a council that represents the interest of all. This leadership under my watch will facilitate scholarship awards for our students, create employment opportunities for youths across the nine villages in Ibusa, produced quality representation to Ibusa youths in regional and international fronts, among others.

Youths unemployment is seen as one of the reasons for the rising crime rate in Ibusa  and Delta State. Is the council in talks with the government and relevant stakeholders on ways of mitigating unemployment in the land?

The cardinal point of my administration is to fight insecurity and make sure peace reign supreme in Ibusa. Youths employment is a major focus of my administration. It’s a serious matter and my leadership is looking at it as a top priority. It aches my heart to see talents roaming about the streets without proper utilization. Ibusa is endowed with youths that are broad-minded, skillful and multi-talented; unfortunately, they are underutilized. The majority of Ibusa youths believe in seeking greener pasture outside,  due to unemployment or underemployment. We cannot continue like this considering the vast material and mineral resources this Delta is endowed with because, Ibusa is part of Delta State capital territory . The adage “an idle mind is the devil’s workshop” best describes the high rate of criminal activities in the country and it is so sad that the youths form the bulk of criminal elements we have in the country today.

The council under my watch will partner with relevant stakeholders to reduce the unemployment rate in the society. Additionally, leadership workshops and entrepreneurial training would be organized across the town while sponsorship programs will be facilitated for youths (Skill Acquisition) entrepreneurs and so on. The council under my watch must reduce crime in Ibusa, because no investor will like to put his or her money if the environment is not safe , so we want to create peaceful environment that will attract Investors and visitor to our community.

Presently , we have commence serious campaign against cultism , kidnapping and other crimes in Ibusa ,telling the youths the implication of committing crime or killing because if anybody kills under the name of any cult group , we will go for the person and not the group, so whatever group you belong we are not interested but will be interested in the perpetrator of the crime (killer) and he must face the law.

.Ibusa town is no longer a safe heaven for crime perpetrator because our vigilant group is very proactive now because they are well equipped  and the sons and daughters of Ibusa are giving them  maximum support. So we advise the evil doers to  relocate from Ibusa for their safety.

Comrade , What plans do you have for the old people( Elders) in Ibusa?

Yes, you are talking about our fathers and mothers , we will soon fashion out plan for our aged  fathers who are vulnerable , but for the most senior Diokpa of Ibusa, I have made a promise to him(Diokpa) that on behalf of my youths Council  I will be paying him a stipend of ten thousand naira (N10,000)every month as our own contribution for his up keep and am appealing  to other able bodies in Ibusa to support our elders who are  vulnerable in Ibusa .

I want to use this medium to thank Chief (Barr.) Fred Ajudua (Onwa oyoko Ibusa),  our mentor, our boss, the father Christmas of our time. Whose transformation is parallel with the transformation of Saul to Paul in the Holy Bible. He is a pacesetter in Humanitarian Service and we are proud to learn at his  feet , and also thank  Hon. Innocent Esewezie and his  Electoral Committee for the seamless process that produced this current executives of Ibusa Youth .

Comrade,The Obuzor of Ibusa, Obi Louis Nwaoboshi inaugurated you and  the officers in his palace on Saturday 27th June, 2020. What do you have to say about his 25th reign as Obuzor?

The Obuzor of Ibuzor is our Royal father  and the pillar of this council, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Louis Chelunor Nwoboshi will soon mark his 25th anniversary on the throne with much pomp. He has changed the traditional face of Ibusa and he has brought a lot of developments to the community. Infact,Obi Louis Nwaoboshi  is the arrowhead of Ibusa , he represents the community both at the local, state and federal levels. We are very grateful for his reign as our king.

As a Grassroots Youth Leader in Ibusa, how can you access your representatives at the state and federal  – Princess(Mrs) Pat Ajudua and Senator Peter Nwaoboshi?

Both representatives are  wonderful people, they are doing marvelously well for the town because they have done alot for us in terms of development and empowerment. We are proud of both representatives and are appealing for more empowerment from them to enable us take Ibusa to a higher  level.

What is your assessment of the general state of affairs in the Delta?

Delta State is a great state blessed with wonderful people.  Irrespective of the situation, Deltans always stand tall. The government has a role to play in making this state a better place for us all and our part. Our amiable Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has performed beyond expectations in spite of paucity of funds occasioned by the economic recession that confronted the country when he came on board on May 29, 2015, particularly in job/wealth creation for the youths through the STEO/YAGEP schemes, human capital development, the prevailing peace in the state and infrastructural development as evident in the massive road construction and rehabilitation across the three senatorial districts of the state. “Governor Okowa believes so much in the youths. His consistent effort to build young leaders in Delta State is laudable. Obviously, Okowa has made some positive shifts from the status quo that must be acknowledged”. We shall continue to contribute our quota to the growth of our dear state.

Governor Okowa has done very well in the five years of his administration, he has turned the fortunes of the state around for the better in fulfillment of his campaign promises. Ibusa youths wish to use this medium to appeal to governor Ifeanyi Okowa to relocate some government ministries and agencies to Ibusa so that our people can feel the presence of government as part of the capital territory.

Thank you very much.

A tribute to my ‘brother,’ my ‘Friend’ Deji Okoji (Dejavu)

Deji Okoji (Dejavu)

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]oday we feel deeply saddened that “Deji Okoji” is gone, we are consoled by the fact that he will make heaven by God’s grace. Adieu, Big Name! Goodnight “Dejavu!” We will always love you. We will sincerely miss you. We believe you are already resting in the sanctuary of the Lord.

Let us always remember, it is not the number of years we live in this world that is important; it is how we live those years that is important; how many people we reach out to and touch; how many people we can bring to God and to the service of our nation. The quality of life is much more important than the quantity of life; and when it comes to the quality of life, we can all say: “Deji Okoji lived a full life and, literally, touched thousands of people.” His death is a testament to the number of people he reached and touched.

In his Letter to the Philippians, St. Paul writes: “For me to live is Christ; and to die is gain.” In other words, to live is to serve the Lord and to die is to be with the Lord. Throughout his lifetime, Deji Okoji faithfully served the Lord; and now he is with the Lord. Today and always, let us be mindful that we are not saying “goodbye” to our beloved Deji Okoji, but we are saying “farewell,” “Big Name,” “until we meet again” in God’s Eternal Heavenly Kingdom. Our Christian faith teaches us that death is only a temporary separation, and one day, we will all be together again for all eternity.

Rest assured, Deji Okoji is now in the presence of God and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; he is in the company of the saints and angels, and his loved ones that have gone before him, resting in Heavenly Peace. He is looking down upon us, he is watching over us, and he is praying for us. He is saying: “Love one another as I have loved you. Live with faith, hope, and love. Faithfully serve the Lord and the Church and Nation with all your heart, soul, and mind. Follow my example all the days of your lives and I will be with you forever and ever.”

Deji Okoji, you will always be with us forever and ever. You are in our hearts, our thoughts, and our prayers. You always have been, and you always will be.

May the Holy Spirit comfort us and give us strength, may God illuminate your eternal soul as you start your journey  to heaven  today, may you “dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”See you then at the sound of the Heavenly Trumpets. Deji, your suffering is over, rest in eternal peace!

Oshimili North LGA Chairmanship Election: Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike, A Man Tested, And Trusted-Odita

Flt.Lt Ifeanyi Odita (rtd)

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hile some people were born great, some achieve greatness on their own. The like of Ifeanyi Odita, retired Air force officer aka “Air force man” is being celebrated everyday, not because he was born with a silver spoon, but because of consistency in determination to succeed, and today, he is not only a successful man, but a successful man that is helping people to achieve success.

Today, as we speak, Air force man is adding value to leaders who are multiplying value to others. He is a grassroots leader that is developing leaders, and a leader that has inspired hope in Oshimili North Local Government people. Today, Ifeanyi Odita aka Air force man* is a man of many parts; a foremost philanthropist, farmer, servant of God, a quintessential politician, entrepreneur, CEO of several companies etc.

Words are not enough to describe or celebrate this humble great man, He deserves all the ovation we could offer him. Indeed, we are all proud of this great Icon for his enviable and legendary achievements in Military, business, politics etc despite all odds.

Air force man is someone who looks up for direction even as he continues to soar higher by the special grace of God.

A compassionate leader who has consistently for years continues to make people happy. He is Humble, jovial, loving, generous, easy going, accommodating etc. Not temperamental  because of his military back ground, he is a man that allows people to express their views on any given issue before coming up with his decision even as a boss or leader.

Truly, Ifeanyi Odita  aka “Air force man” is a man of the people and a man of many parts.

Excerpts:

Can we meet you Sir?

I am ifeanyi Odita,a retired military officer from  Akwukwu- Igbo, the Headquarter of Oshimili North Local Government Area.I just left the service and I came back to my town and join Politics because I want to serve my people and am equally a stake holder in the (PDP) Politics of Oshimili North local Government Area of Delta State.

Sir, How are you coping with the local Political class in your LGA as a retired Military officer with different orientation?

The Political class in my local government area are my brothers and friends that am familiar with before now. When I joined the local politics of my town, the first thing I did was to understudy the ranking of my party members. I learned from them and I discovered that the cardinal responsibilities of any politician is total loyalty, which is part of me as a trained military officer, because in the military we believe in discipline.

What are your plans and prospects in the next Local government Election, Are you Vying for any position?

No, am not running for election.

Sir, few candidates have declared interest to be the next Chairman of your local Government, who are you supporting and why?

For now, I have not seen any serious candidate , I only know one serious  person that is contesting for the seat  and he is Hon. Ambrose Elofu- Dike  and I think he is the most qualified person for the job because of certain qualities. He is a visionary leader that exhibits and epitomizes consistency, competence, capacity, connection, and character with strong leadership ability. The success story of this great man is a great lesson to the youths to take their fate in their hands if they hope to control the destiny of Nigeria before too long.

According to Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe” There is plenty of room at the top because very few people travel beyond the average route. ” And so, most of us seem satisfied to remain within the confines of mediocrity”. The Ibusa Born Political Juggernaut Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike needs no much introduction. Just as the People will always say that “A good Market sells its self and it is never kept out of sight”, so is Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike who has kept indelible Marks in the heart of The good People of Oshimili North Local Government Area and Beyond.

Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike is not only a charismatic leader, he is a compassionate person. The people of Oshimili North in Delta State are not only happy and grateful to have him as their next grassroots chairman, but thankful that such a quintessential person is willing and prepared to serve us.

He has been fighting for  children, for the poor and destitute, sometimes against establishments and elites. But as a leader, he is greatly admired across the political spectrum. Even those who disagree with his politics can draw inspiration from his life. Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike is a patriotic Nigerian who could be classified as a ROLE MODEL whose footstep could be followed by the growing generations as a result of the successes recorded by his personality by dint of hard work and enviable conducts.

Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike is the most experienced candidate for the job, we all can recall that  in 2019 election, our party(PDP) elders and stake holders in Oshimili North appointed him to be the Campaign Director- General (Triple DG) for three of our candidates namely, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi for Senate, Princess Pat Ajudua for Delta State House of Assembly seat and Hon. Louis Ndukwe for our local government chairmanship seat, and these candidates won their respective elections. So for a man who was entrusted with such role is the best and most experienced person to take over as our next local government chairman.

Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike is a very loyal party man who has alot of regards and respect for his party, for the past ten years, he had wanted to contest for various position but as a loyalist our leaders always appeal to him to step down and support their preferred candidate of our party and he will always comply and support the candidate nominated by our great party leaders in our local government  with his money and everything to make sure our party wins the election, so I believe it is now his turn to serve the people of Oshimili North local Government.

I can remember vividly during the tenure of Barrister Ben Okonkwo, the Oshimili North LGA awarded the contract of Ibusa market to Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike and he executed the contract with his own fund and it is the biggest market in our local today, I am very sure that our Local Government Council is still owing him till date. Why can’t we give such  a man the authority to pilot the affairs of our council.  it is true that no one is entitled to a top political position, everyone has to earn it through his or her deeds, and each is only as good as his or her command of the issues, but Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike is destined for this  “Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike has endeared himself to his people.

Sir, You are so sure that Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike will take your  LGA to the next level, Why?

Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike believes in public service as a honorable profession and in government as a vehicle for helping all citizens get their chance for high quality of life. His accomplishments speak for themselves. This is not about Dike or his ego. He is known for humility, graciousness, and gentility in the party; he does not engaged in partisan contests to win for the sake of winning. The goals are so important that he is willing to work with political opponents to reach agreement on measures that serve the people. Negotiating by calling on higher principles made him effective with principled members of the other party.

Dike believes that the work as a grassroots chairman is more important than title or position. Business leaders should heed that lesson, above all: Performance, mission, and endurance are possible because the people we support and care about also support us.  Only God Makes a King, when God uplifts a Man, who is he to stand and say no? Nobody…

Sir,  what advice do you have for the  Oshimili North PDP Elders?

I want our party leaders to give Ambrose Elofu Elue-Dike the ticket of our great party to enable him contest for the Chairmanship position in the next coming local government  election, because he is the most experienced, tested and trusted party member. For now based on the names we are hearing that are interested in the seat, I think he is one of the best among them in every ramification he is there and he will be there for us.

We all should support to enable him take our local government to the next level.

Sir, As a grassroots politician like you said, how can you access the present Local Government Chairman of your LGA?

I can say that our present local government chairman Hon. Louis Ndukwe has done his best, we all know how the system affects their performance , with the little resources available to him ,I will score him high.

As a grassroots Politician in Oshimili North  LGA, how can you access your representative at the  Delta State House of Assembly ,Princess(Mrs) Pat Ajudua?

Jesus! She is a wonderful woman and a mother, she is doing marvelously well, why I said she is a wonderful woman is because she carries  everybody along and she is the light of the local government.  she has empowered alot of people as I know in my local government mostly youths and women. I know that she cannot empower everybody, I believe she emulate that gesture from her husband Chief Fred Ajudua who is a foremost philanthropist , so the spirit of giving and touching lives is a trend in the family.

Sir, You have a serving senator from your local government area, what can you say about him?

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is our overall leader, a true patriot, the author of ‘Doctrine Of Necessity’, a stabilizing voice in our democracy, my mentor, my boss, the longest-serving active Politician in Delta State . His sterling leadership qualities have provided an essential stabilizing force in the Red Chamber.

His transformation has a parallel with the transformation of Saul to Paul in the Holy Bible. His conversion to democracy has been total. “As a Senator that leads and organized his colleagues; as an unprecedented two-term Senator he has not only stabilized the Senate and therefore the polity especially at a critical time he has also given the Senate character. My Senator has become one of the most outstanding figures of our democracy and its symbol of forthrightness and courage.

He is a perpetual lesson in service and we are proud to learn at his  feet. My Senator just marked his Sixty-Three birthday and we thank God for his life; a life of many stories; a life of service to man and to God; a life of fulfillment. We can only pray that the Almighty whom we have so faithfully served grants him many more years in good health so that he can continue in his service to the Nation and humanity. Like wine, he is only getting better with age.

Deltans are now referring to Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa as Road master, do you believe he has done well on roads?

Gov. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is the best governor ever produced in Delta. If you compare him with the previous governors that have ruled Delta State, if you look at what he has put on ground, our governor has not stayed 8years, but he has made a very good landmark and a very good impact. Infact,  he is the Roads Master based on his performance . He has linked almost all the roads in Delta State, I have been privileged to travel round Delta State . He is a wonderful governor, I think if there is anyway for him to come back for third tenure, I will be part of those people who will vote him again.

Finally, what will you like people to remember you for?

I want to be remembered as a man who served his country in the military  diligently and retired. A man who  joined politics to serve the common man and touch the lives of his people, I will also like to be known with truthfulness, honesty and tranquility. .

Thank you very much.

FG lift ban on interstate movement

President Muhammadu Buhari

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Federal Government on Monday announced that it would maintain the current guidelines on “ease of lockdown” for another two weeks with effect from midnight.

The measures include, amongst others, curfew from 8pm to 6am in Lagos, Ogun and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and re-opening of government offices with officers from grade level 14 and above reporting for work on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

“President has approved that the measures, exemptions, advisories and scope of entities allowed to reopen under phase one of the eased lockdown shall be maintained across the federation for another two weeks effective from 12:00 midnight today (18th May, 2020 to 1st June, 2020),” Boss Mustapha, chairman of the Presidential Task on COVID-19, said during the daily briefing of the task force in Abuja on Monday.

Mustapha said President Muhammadu Buhari approved the extension based on the recommendations of the PTF.

He, however, said the PTF would continue to intensify efforts to “tell (communicate), trace (identify) and treat (manage)” cases, as well as elevating the level of community ownership of non-pharmaceutical interventions.

The PTF said the existing lockdown order in Kano would also be maintained for additional two weeks.

The government had on April 27 announced the gradual ease of the lockdown beginning from May 4 to mitigate economic hardship experienced by Nigerians, among other measures.

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t is with great honour and privilege that i write to congratulate you on the occasion of your 63rd birthday. Your contributions to the growth and development of our beloved town Ibusa remains indelible in the annals of our cherished history.“As you mark your birthday today, we celebrate you and all that you have accomplished through your humble beginnings to your illustrious career as a senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria and as our past State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Your leadership prowess has continued to reverberate round the entire Anioma nation, Delta State and beyond and we celebrate your unforgettable contributions to advancing our state, adding your commitment to humanity, and how you have, at different times through various capacities, impacted the people you lead, marked you out as a light that cannot be hidden”.

At this moment of your life, you have written your name in gold. You brought smiles on the faces of our people. Your achievements as the Senate Committee Chairman on Niger-Delta are numerous to mention.

Your investment on human development is also worthy of mention. Your kind gestures to the poor have not only changed the lives of the youths in Ibusa but have also made the beneficiaries to realize their potentials. What else is expected of a leader than to empower the youths? Cicero once said: ‘what can I offer the nation than to teach and instruct the youths? By empowering the youths, you have put food on the table of the masses. In the words of Franklin Benjamin, if a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it from him. Your investment on Youths empowerment will never be a waste.

Our great leader, your political integrity is not questionable. You came into political limelight when you rose to become state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) . You led a people-oriented Party especially in Delta State. During your days as the state chairman, you restored the prestige of the party and brought value into it. The legacy you left in the state politics was strengthened by your successor. In fact, during your tenure as state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Political appointees were made to be answerable to their (party)constituencies. Throughout your tenure as state chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),party leaders enjoyed good political atmosphere with the executive arm of the government.

“On behalf of the Ibusa Youth Council and good people of Ibusa, we appreciate you and all you have done and still doing for the people of Ibusa and Anioma nation. Dalu Nna

63rd Birthday: Nwaoboshi, A Leader of Inestimable Value

  Senator Peter Nwaoboshi

[dropcap]S[/dropcap]enator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi is one of those very few good men;a true philanthropist, an accomplished businessman,a perfect gentleman, a man of valour, the bringer of rain.In the gallery of great leaders and great men, he is without doubt, a rare masterpiece.
Senator Nwaoboshi is celebrating his 63rd birthday today and to put the epochal celebration in proper perspective, he is joining the septuagenarian club at the exciting peak and the proper prime of his mercurial powers where, poised like the bronzed champion, glowing flamboyantly in the golden flame of his decade, prepares himself to capture and conquer arguably, the one ultimate laurel for which his superlative gifts and brilliance clamour to be manifestly celebrated with maximum political aplomb woven into the matrix of an intrepid homogeneous ubiquity.

When great men celebrate, even the stars bow in solemn hallow. As the two term senator representing Delta North at the upper chambers celebrates his 63th birthday today (June 29, 2020), the periscope is focused on a man who has given his all to create peace, tranquility and progress for his people and the Niger-Delta region as a whole.
Gradually, our distinguished senator is stepping into the septuagenarian club, healthy, hearty, resolute and focused. As he ages, it is never a dull moment for a man who has spent the greater part of his life to render selfless service to humanity.

Senator Nwaoboshi is down to earth and corporate-smart, from the various experiences of home-bred grooming, grand master himself,is an accomplished businessman, technocrat, politician and grassroots mobilizer on his own merit. A man of immense mettle and a completely detribalized human being with a profound depth of character, whose humility, devoid of discrimination, embraces all and sundry, he soars like an eagle and exudes reverence and integrity. A pragmatic leader full of benevolence, he gives hope to the hopeless, Job to the jobless and welfare and succor to the poor and needy. To everyone who crosses his path, he is a political light. He is a friend to all, a role model to the young Politicians, a helper to many and a visionary man bubbling with the ideals of entrenching a united, peaceful, harmonious vision for his community and the world. Honest, transparent, dependable, uncomplicated and full of wisdom, Senator Nwaoboshi can change you effortlessly, with his word.

Describing Nwaoboshi as a child of circumstances with a great destiny is like stating the obvious. It is often said that some were born great, while others attained or achieved greatness. For Nwaoboshi, it is a combination of being born great and working hard to attain greatness.

At 63, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has packed in that relatively old age, a record of achievements that is the envy of his peers. Born on June 29th, 1958 in Ibusa – Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, his parents Obi Francis Nwaoboshi and Obi(Mrs) Agnes Nwaoboshi, may not have imagined the great heights their then little child was destined for. But as the legendary Professor Chinua Achebe would say, a chick that will grow to be a cock is known the day it was hatched.

Peter Nwaoboshi was born in 1958 in Delta State, Nigeria. Nwaoboshi attended St.Thomas Teachers College, Ibusa where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1976. In 1986, he graduated from University of Benin where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws. He also has a Master of Laws from Delta State University.

Nwaoboshi began his career in 1979 as an aide to Samuel Ogbemudia the then Governor of the now defunct Bendel State. Subsequently, he was appointed Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation. In 1999, he was also a political adviser to Governor James Ibori. In 2000, he was appointed Commissioner for Agriculture and Special Duties in Delta State where he served in that position till 2006. In 2008, he was appointed State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Delta State. He served for a second term as State Chairman in 2012 and in 2014 resigned to run for senate.

In 2015, he was elected into office as a Senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the National Assembly. He was subsequently appointed Chairman Senate committee on Niger Delta. In 2019, he was re-elected into the senate under the People’s Democratic Party,For five years that he is at the helm of affairs as Senate Committee Chairman on Niger Delta, the Niger/ Delta region experienced massive development in all the sectors. His achievements are endless. He succeeded in turning the fortunes of the region around with the available resources. Senator Nwaoboshi’s developmental strides speak volumes. Most of his legacies are still being enjoyed in the region presently.

Nwaoboshi distinguished himself in all the sectors he served. He is arguably one of the most successful politicians the Niger Delta have produced in recent times. His influence and popularity at the Upper chambers were not earned through a walk in the park, rather by the dint of his determination to make his people happy. His story is a very loaded one, his development efforts also extended to the Niger Delta region even though he is still a two term senator. He was deeply involved in negotiations with Niger Delta agitators because of his present position as the Senate Committee chairman on Niger Delta ,which let to peace in the region. Of course, where there is peace, there is development.

If one counts every infrastructure dotted all over the Niger Delta, a greater percentage of them would definitely bear his finger of approval and influence .Even his ardent critics concede to him that his sojourn in office garnered stellar propensities that have till date remained a yardstick for measuring performance in that resource – rich region of Niger Delta.
A PDP chieftain, Ambrose Elofu-Dike, who described the celebrant as a dependable and trusted politician who could take bullets for his friends while fighting for equity and justice, salute the courage and resilience of the Ibusa-born Political tactician to humanity.

As this enigma celebrates his birthday today, I join other teeming Aniomas,Deltans and Nigerians to wish him a happy birthday and pray that God grant him more strength to carry on’.
Amen.

Happy birthday sir!

Odita Congratulates Senator Nwaoboshi At 63, Says He Is A Political Enigma

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi
