The Light Diabetes Organisation will mark World Diabetes Day tomorrow, Friday, 14 November 2025, with a free community medical outreach for the people of Igbuzo and environs. The co-founder, Mrs. Tonia Akindele, is appealing to residents to come out and take advantage of the free services planned for the day.
“Our mission is to bring free, life-saving diabetes screening and care to the doorsteps of our people,” Mrs. Akindele said. “Early detection and regular care change lives. We encourage everyone — men, women and children — to come and make use of these services.”
What will be provided (free):
Blood glucose (sugar) screening
Blood pressure checks
Basic eye screening (diabetic retinopathy awareness)
Free diabetes medications and counselling where indicated
Wound and ulcer assessment and dressing
Health education on diabetes prevention, nutrition and self-care
The Light Diabetes Organisation says the outreach is open to everyone in Igbuzo and neighbouring communities. Community leaders, local health workers and volunteers will be on hand to assist with registration and care.
Members of the public are advised to come early and bring any previous medical records or medications they are using.
