IGBUZO TOWN URGE DELTA GOVT TO OPEN OGBOLI-FARM ROAD LINK TO ASABA

IGBUZO, Delta State — Residents of Igbuzo (Ibusa) are making a heartfelt appeal to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and their representative in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Esenwah, to prioritize the construction of a crucial “link road” from Ogboli Farm Road to Asaba. Community leaders and citizens argue that building this road will not only transform Igbuzo but also strengthen connectivity between Igbuzo and Asaba — the Delta State capital.

Igbuzo is currently linked to Asaba by only one major road, which often becomes congested and limits the flow of people and goods. According to town elders and youth representatives, establishing a second route via Ogboli Farm would significantly enhance mobility, encouraging commerce, social interaction, and regional integration.

“We are not just asking for a road — we are asking for a pathway to development,” said one community leader. “If that link is built, Igbuzo will no longer feel like a remote town; it will become part of the capital territory’s growth story.”

Community advocates argue that the proposed road is not just for local benefit. They believe it fits squarely within Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. agenda — the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, economic inclusion, and urban renewal.

In recent months, the state government has approved several road projects in the capital territory, signalling a renewed focus on connectivity and access.  For example, the Delta State Executive Council approved multi-billion naira road projects aimed at improving urban and rural linkages.

Moreover, Governor Oborevwori has earmarked N50 billion in the 2025 budget for road infrastructure across all 25 Local Government Areas.  Community members say a portion of this fund should be allocated to the Ogboli-Asaba link road.

If constructed, the Ogboli Farm–Asaba road could unlock multiple benefits:
Improved access would encourage small businesses, farm produce markets, and trade between Igbuzo and Asaba.

A better road would make travel easier for students, workers, and families, strengthening the bond between communities.

As accessibility improves, land and property in Igbuzo would become more attractive for development.

Linking Igbuzo more closely to Asaba can boost its status within the Delta State Capital Territory.

Igbuzo chiefs, opinion leaders, and youth groups are organizing to formally petition both the Governor and the Delta State House of Assembly. Their aim: to have the road project included in the 2026 budget. Some believe that Hon. Esenwah, the local assembly member, has the influence and duty to champion this cause on behalf of his constituents.

A youth group in Igbuzo spoke passionately about the transformational potential of such a road: “When we talk about development, this road is not a luxury. It’s a necessity. It’s our bridge to the future.”

The timing of the appeal is strategic. Delta State’s urban renewal plans for Asaba — approved earlier this year — already include several major road projects, particularly within the capital territory.  With political will and community pressure, the Ogboli-Farm link may find its way onto the execution list.

As one Igbuzo elder put it: “We want to be part of the capital’s story, not on the margin of it.”

Igbuzo citizens are calling for a public town-hall or hearing with the Governor’s office and the State Assembly to present their case.

They want a feasibility study and cost assessment for the link road to be commissioned — in partnership with the Delta State Ministry of Works.

They will mobilize local support and launch a formal petition so that the project is formally recognized and budgeted in the next fiscal cycle.
