Leaders of APC Ward 8 in Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, held a crucial leadership meeting on November 30, 2025, at the residence of the Ward Head Leader, Chief (Dr.) Austin Izagbo, Ide of Igbuzo. The meeting, convened by the Ward Chairman, Mr. Anthony Ogadi (popularly known as KOLOGBISH), focused on consolidating party unity and strengthening internal structures following recent political developments in the state.
The gathering became necessary in the wake of the high-profile defection of the Executive Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Governor defected alongside prominent political figures, including immediate past Governor Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Deputy Governor Chief Monday Onyeme, Speaker of the State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Arthur Akpowhowo, all serving State Assembly members, appointees, and key government functionaries.
Governor Oborevwori had stated during his declaration that his decision to join the APC was informed by the need to align Delta State with the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in order to unlock broader developmental opportunities for the state in line with his M.O.R.E Agenda.
At the Ward 8 meeting, leaders deliberated on strategies to further strengthen the APC at the ward level, across Oshimili North, and throughout Delta State. In his address, Chief Austin Izagbo reaffirmed that the Leader of the APC in Delta State is Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, while the Leader of the Party in Oshimili North LGA remains Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi.
He urged Ward 8 leaders to demonstrate unwavering loyalty and to conduct themselves with humility, sincerity, passion, and commitment while supporting the political direction of the Governor and promoting the Renewed Hope for M.O.R.E Agenda of the state government.
The meeting also reiterated the collective determination of Ward 8 leaders to work toward the successful re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Elder Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 General Elections.
The session concluded with an agreement to reconvene at a later date, to be communicated by the Ward Chairman.
