The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN), Delta State Council, has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, in recognition of what it described as his outstanding achievements in human capital development and infrastructural transformation across the state.
The resolution was reached during a strategic meeting of the association with the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Newspaper, Sir Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye, held in Asaba.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by the Publisher of Ijaw Voice, Comrade Preye Foh, and seconded by the Publisher of Isoko Mirror, Dr. Felida Essi. The motion was thereafter put to a voice vote by Comrade Patrick Ochei, Publisher of Anioma Trust, and was unanimously adopted by members of the association.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the forum expressed profound appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for his inclusive leadership style and consistent support for community media practitioners. The association commended the Governor for recognizing ACNPN as a critical stakeholder in grassroots communication and for serving as a patron of the body.
Speaking at the meeting, the State Chairman of ACNPN, Delta State Council, Comrade Ike Philip Abiagom, reiterated the association’s core mandate of effective information dissemination at the grassroots, fostering collaboration between government and communities, and promoting development-driven journalism.
Comrade Abiagom noted that Governor Oborevwori’s administration has demonstrated a firm commitment to the welfare of Deltans through strategic investments in education, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, road construction, and other critical sectors of the economy. According to him, the Governor’s policies reflect a genuine concern for the wellbeing of the people.
He urged community newspaper publishers across the state to continue to promote the administration’s initiatives objectively and responsibly, while serving as a strong bridge between rural communities and the state government.
Comrade Abiagom congratulated Governor Oborevwori on his two and half impactful years in office and assured him of the continued support of Deltans and the Community media beyond 2027 in advancing the MORE Agenda for sustainable growth and development of Delta State.
Other speakers at the meeting pledged to return to their respective communities to sensitize residents on the importance of standing firmly behind the Governor’s vision, describing unity, cooperation, and collective support as vital ingredients for sustained progress in Delta State.
