[dropcap]H[/dropcap]on. Chuks Oseme’s grassroots dominance and acceptance has caused political tsunami for some overzealous politicians in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State. Since Hon. Oseme assumed office as Chairman in 2015, a lot of people thought it was a joke because they felt he would be their political toy like his predecessors who came, saw, but did not conquer. Consequently, Hon Oseme came, saw, and conquered. He is a man loved by everybody; both his own party members and others in opposition parties. His venture into politics was not by his making, but divinely designed by God. This is the singular reason why he succeeds where others fail. It is written in the Holy Bible that no one should touch an anointed soul and inflict no harm on him (Psalm 105:15). Whoever God has blessed, no man; not even the likes of Hon. Nwaobi can curse him or pull him down; irrespective of the political propaganda aimed at tarnishing his image. The stakeholders in Aniocha North LGA are using this platform to advice Hon. Nwaobi and his cohorts to leave Hon. Oseme alone so that he can concentrate and consolidate on the good works already embarked on. Hon. Nwaobi should be sensible and mature enough to realize that the era of cheap popularity has long gone. Hon. Nwaobi should know that it would take him some time to build his image and popularity like Hon. Oseme.
If reference is made to the previous primary election held in his constituency, he emerged third place. Also, in the recently concluded local government election, Hon Nwaobi could not deliver even 50% of the total registered votes; as he got 700 votes out of 8000 registered voters in his constituency. What a shame! If the people loved him like he claimed, why did he not secure at least 50% of the voting strength in his ward? However, the reverse was the case in Hon. Oseme’s ward as he secured almost 93% of the voting strength. This is one of the reasons why Chief Nkem Okwuofu (Political God-Mother of Government) who is from the same LGA with Hon. Oseme believes in him. With his pedigree, it has been envisaged that he is the next political leader that will take over from the likes of Chief Nkem Okwuofu.
In any case, Hon. Nwaobi should build his popularity and wait for his turn; and not by fomenting trouble in the local government through some of the mischievous Councilors who do not know their onion. Hon. Nwaobi should focus on his legislative business. He should fight for the rights of Aniocha North in Delta State House of Assembly, and not destroying Oseme’s image. He should desist from the unwholesome act of creating tension in the local government area when there is no need for it. Who is who in Aniocha North have passed vote of confidence on Hon. Oseme as they are solidly behind him to take the council to the next level. He has broken the records by emerging as Aniocha North LGA Chairman for a second term, consecutively. It has not happened before; but with God on his side, he made that record.
It is natural that money do not give popularity; but rather popularity comes from God, good work and love from the people.
