[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n Nigeria those often considered the greatest are the politicians, fraudulent exploiters, violent conquerors and evil geniuses turned heroes and heroines, who have out done others by stealing the community’s common wealth and sharing crumbs amongst their praise singers but A.G Umar is neither any if the above, nor is he seeking any political office. His leadership is about a passionate commitment towards zero tolerance to corruption and also to better the lives of the people by giving them the ultimate services they require.
He is an outstanding Port-Manager, peaceful, calm and very courageous. We are inspired to celebrate his remarkable life and accomplishment. He is a man of enormous and proven integrity, tenacity. His passion about a united Nigeria is a common trend that runs through his steering career in public service, which has remained so till now. A.G Umar made a mark in Rivers state, where he is working as the Port Manager, Rivers State Port Complex. His vibrant and robust leadership will forever remain a reference point. Greatness is a property for which no man can receive credit too soon; it must be possessed long before it is acknowledged.” When one of the world’s greatest thinkers, Ralph Waldo Emerson handed down the above words of wisdom, those he had in mind were certainly the likes of A.G Umar.
Due to his huge and positive contributions towards his work in Rivers State port complex, he has received various local and International honours and commendations. The entire people of Nigeria will always remember him for his immense contributions and notable inputs towards national development and the growth of true federation and democracy. He is indeed fulfilled. A man with glowing passion for excellence. His contributions to humanity are unequalled. His administrative wizardry, reputation and amiable pedigree, has marked the turning point in his life since he became the port-manager, having served and recorded various successes in various departments of Nigeria Ports. We acknowledge in particular the pragmatic efforts of this fellow who from his words and actions has blocked all the revenue leakages, recorded zero tolerance for corruption, hence can be regarded as “A Due Process Port-Manager.” His cordial relationship with other security agencies operating at the port has contributed so much towards reducing crime to its barest both within and outside the port. A.G Umar exhibits a genuinely honest relationship with his peers, Colleagues, Associates, and Principals.
In the midst of poor governance marred with corruption, when men and women are constantly striving to outdo one another in the acquisition for power, wealth and privilege, here A.G Umar has left a legacy of purpose, hardwork, integrity and sacrifice. He has caused happiness and good name for Nigeria Ports Authority, himself, family and generations yet unborn.
