EBU, DELTA STATE – The people of Ebu Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have expressed profound appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for bringing the community back into the state’s development agenda through the approval of the construction of the Ilo-Ebu/Palace Road.
Community leaders and residents described the governor’s intervention as a significant milestone, noting that Ebu had suffered years of neglect despite being one of the oldest communities in the state.
According to stakeholders in the community, the administration of former Governor Chief James Ibori remains one of the few governments that made meaningful infrastructural investments in Ebu. They recalled that the construction of the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road during the Ibori administration opened up economic opportunities and improved connectivity with neighboring communities.
Residents, however, lamented that subsequent administrations failed to sustain development efforts in the area, leaving critical infrastructure unattended and the community largely excluded from major government projects.
They stated that Governor Oborevwori’s approval of the Ilo-Ebu/Palace Road project has rekindled hope among the people and demonstrated that the present administration recognizes Ebu as an important part of Delta State deserving of development and government attention.
“The approval of this road project has brought great relief and joy to our people. It is a clear indication that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and members of the State Executive Council have remembered Ebu and are committed to addressing some of our developmental challenges,” a community leader said.
While commending the governor for the gesture, the community appealed for urgent intervention on the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road, describing it as the community’s major economic lifeline and gateway to neighboring towns.
Residents explained that the road, which was originally constructed during the Ibori administration, has deteriorated over the years and is now largely impassable, creating severe transportation and economic hardships for farmers, traders, students, and other road users.
They further noted that the federal road serving the community is also in poor condition, leaving Ebu virtually cut off from surrounding communities and commercial centers.
The community therefore appealed to Governor Oborevwori, whom they described as a responsive and hardworking leader, to extend his intervention to the reconstruction of the Ebu–Ezi–Ukala Road.
According to them, rehabilitating the road would restore economic activities, improve access to markets, facilitate movement of goods and services, and significantly enhance the quality of life for residents.
The people expressed confidence in the governor’s commitment to equitable development and urged him to continue the ongoing efforts to ensure that no community in Delta State is left behind.
