IGBUZO, DELTA STATE – The people of Igbuzo in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State have received a major boost in sports and youth development following the attraction of a mini stadium project to the community through the efforts of renowned philanthropist and community development advocate, Pastor Idowu Daniel Okeze (Upke Igbuzo).
The project, facilitated through the intervention of the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, Enugu State, is expected to provide a modern sporting facility that will nurture young talents, promote healthy living, and create opportunities for sports development within the community and beyond.
Reacting to the development, a community leader, Comrade Emmanuel Amatokwu (Kwasa), described the project as a significant milestone in Igbuzo’s quest for improved recreational and sporting infrastructure. He noted that the mini stadium would serve as a centre for youth engagement, football competitions, athletics, and other sporting activities capable of positively impacting the younger generation.
Pastor Okeze, who visited the project site located along Umueze Farm Road, Igbuzo today, expressed delight over the approval of the facility and assured residents that work on the project would commence soon. He described the mini stadium as a welcome development that would complement ongoing efforts to empower youths and promote community development.
Widely known for his humanitarian and development initiatives, Pastor Okeze has consistently demonstrated commitment to attracting Federal Government projects and interventions to Igbuzo and neighbouring communities. His efforts have spanned critical sectors including education, road infrastructure, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and social development.
Over the years, the respected philanthropist has facilitated numerous projects and empowerment programmes, including the provision of electricity transformers, solar-powered streetlights, tricycles, shuttle buses, educational support schemes, and vocational training opportunities aimed at improving the living standards of residents.
Speaking on the significance of the mini stadium project, community stakeholders expressed appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the management of the Federal Cooperative College, Oji River, for approving the intervention. They also commended Pastor Okeze for leveraging his influence, goodwill, and network to attract yet another impactful Federal Government project to Igbuzo.
Residents noted that the proposed facility would help address the shortage of standard sporting infrastructure in the community while providing a platform for identifying and developing young talents capable of representing Delta State and Nigeria in national and international sporting competitions.
They further observed that the stadium would promote youth inclusion by providing constructive avenues for recreation, fitness, and social interaction, thereby helping to reduce social vices and strengthen community unity.
Many residents described the project as another testament to Pastor Okeze’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of Igbuzo. According to them, his interventions have continued to complement government efforts in critical sectors and have earned him widespread admiration across Anioma land and beyond.
As preparations begin for the commencement of construction, expectations are high that the mini stadium will become a landmark sporting facility capable of hosting competitions, community events, and youth-focused programmes, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Igbuzo.
For the people of the community, the attraction of the mini stadium represents more than just a sporting facility; it is a symbol of visionary leadership, effective collaboration, and a shared commitment to empowering future generations. Residents have also expressed gratitude to the Federal Government under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for extending the benefits of the Renewed Hope Agenda to Igbuzo through the approval of the project.
