DELTA GOVERNMENT, POLICE STEP UP ACTION OVER OZORO INCIDENT

The Delta State Government has intensified efforts to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of those involved in the recent Ozoro incident, as the Attorney-General partners with the police to fast-track justice.

The Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, on Monday received a delegation from the office of the Attorney-General at the State Police Headquarters in Asaba. The delegation was led by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole.

During the visit, the Attorney-General commended the police for their prompt response in restoring calm in Ozoro following the incident, which had sparked widespread public concern. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting the police in ensuring a diligent investigation and the prosecution of all those found culpable, noting that justice must be served and serve as a deterrent to others.

In his response, the Police Commissioner expressed appreciation for the visit and the continued support of the state government in maintaining peace and order. He assured that decisive steps had been taken to prevent a recurrence, adding that he had personally visited Ozoro to engage community stakeholders.

The commissioner further disclosed that the investigation team had been directed to expedite its work to ensure the swift prosecution of suspects linked to the incident. He also reassured residents that the command remains committed to upholding the rule of law, stressing that all identified culprits would be prosecuted in accordance with legal provisions.

The police urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations.
