The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has launched a comprehensive cleanup operation at the busy Koka Bridge in Asaba, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sanitation within the state capital.
The intervention, which commenced on February 18, 2026, targeted indiscriminately dumped refuse, littered human waste, and accumulated sand along the bridge corridor. The exercise was carried out by the Agency’s Environment Unit as part of proactive measures to restore cleanliness and orderliness to the area.
The cleanup team was led by the Head of Environment, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who personally supervised the operation to ensure the effective evacuation of waste and other environmental nuisances obstructing the bridge axis.
Speaking on the exercise, the Director-General of the Agency, Mr. Patrick Ukah, reaffirmed that maintaining a clean and healthy capital territory remains a core mandate of the DSCTDA. He noted that the sanitation drive forms part of sustained efforts to preserve the aesthetic appeal and environmental integrity of Asaba.
Mr. Ukah further disclosed that the operation would continue with the removal and evacuation of sand deposits around the bridge to enhance safety and improve the overall outlook of the area.
He called on residents, traders, and road users to cooperate with the Agency by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of refuse and adhering strictly to proper sanitation practices.
The exercise underscores the Agency’s ongoing resolve to create a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally friendly capital city for all residents.
