The Association of Community Newspaper Publishers of Nigeria (ACNPN) has congratulated the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on his remarkable achievement of clinching two prestigious Governor of the Year 2025 awards from leading national newspapers — Leadership and New Telegraph.
In a statement jointly signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Ike Philip Abiagom, and the Secretary, Comrade Alaska Ekele, the Association described the double honour as well-deserved and a strong endorsement of the Governor’s visionary leadership and development-driven administration.
ACNPN noted that since assuming office, Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated uncommon commitment to inclusive governance, transparency and people-centered policies aimed at improving the living standards of Deltans. The Association highlighted the administration’s strides in road infrastructure, healthcare services, educational development and economic empowerment programmes as clear indicators of purposeful leadership.
According to the statement, the recognition by Leadership and New Telegraph Newspapers reflects the growing national acknowledgment of Governor Oborevwori’s pragmatic approach to governance and his dedication to sustainable development across Delta State.
Leadership Newspaper presented its award at the 18th Leadership Conference and Awards held today, February 12, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja. Meanwhile, New Telegraph Newspaper is set to confer its award on February 13, 2026, at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
ACNPN emphasized that the twin awards go beyond personal recognition, describing them as validation of the collective efforts of the Delta State Government in delivering democratic dividends to the people.
“The dual awards reaffirm the confidence Nigerians have in Governor Oborevwori’s administration. His commitment to accountability, unity and progress continues to place Delta State on a path of sustainable growth,” the statement read.
The Association expressed optimism that the Governor would remain resolute in his mission to build a more prosperous, united and economically vibrant Delta State.
ACNPN therefore congratulates Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on this outstanding national honour and wishes him continued success in his service to the people of Delta State.
