Igbuzo Community Hosts Admiralty University Vice Chancellor, Strengthens Town–Gown Relations

The Igbuzo Community Development Union (ICDU) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a strong and mutually beneficial partnership with the Admiralty University of Nigeria, Ibusa, as it hosted the institution’s Vice Chancellor and management team in a civic reception held in Igbuzo on Monday, November 3, 2025.
The event, which took place at the Obuzor Palace, drew prominent dignitaries including the Obuzor of Igbuzo, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Chelunor Nwoboshi,the Honourable Member representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Frank N. Esenwah,President General, ICDU Worldwide, Chief V.A. Uchuno,Dr, Austine Obidi, Sir. Paul Okobi, Vice President ,ICDU Home Branches, Emma Amatokwu, Sir Gilbert Okonji , Super MC Vincent Iwunor, Hon. Augustine Okonji and among others.
Welcoming the visitors, the President-General of the Igbuzo Community Development Union,Chief V.A. Uchuno, commended the Vice Chancellor and his team for their dedication to academic excellence and community development. He noted that Igbuzo, as the host community, has continued to maintain peaceful coexistence with the university since its establishment and remains committed to supporting its vision of producing disciplined and innovative graduates.
 
“The presence of Admiralty University has brought immense socio-economic and educational value to our people. As a community, we are proud to host such a prestigious institution and will continue to collaborate for shared progress,” he said.
 
In his response, the Vice Chancellor of Admiralty University, Prof. Christopher Bankole N. Ogbogbo, expressed profound appreciation to the people of Igbuzo for their continuous hospitality, describing the community as a reliable partner in the university’s mission of promoting academic excellence and character development.
 
He stated that the university would continue to strengthen its relationship with the community through capacity-building initiatives, outreach programs, and youth empowerment projects.
 
Addressing the gathering, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Chelunor Nwoboshi, in his royal remarks, praised the cordial relationship between the university and the town, urging both parties to sustain dialogue and partnership in ways that enhance mutual growth and community stability.
Hon. Barr. Frank Esenwah applauded the Igbuzo community for its maturity, cooperation, and support for the university, emphasizing that education remains a key driver of social and economic development. He assured that the Delta State House of Assembly would continue to support initiatives that promote education and peace in host communities.
The event featured cultural performances, presentation of gifts, and goodwill messages from community leaders and university representatives.
With this renewed bond, the Igbuzo community and Admiralty University pledged to continue working together toward the advancement of education, peace, and sustainable development in Delta State.
