Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege Home Coming, Indeed, Nwaoboshi Stole The Show

[dropcap]A[/dropcap] prophet is not honoured in his hometown, so goes a popular axiom. But this was not applicable to the former deputy President of the Senate , Ovie Omo-Agege, home coming in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

In spite of the short notice of his coming, drums were rolled out from every nook and cranny of the state, especially Delta central senatorial district to welcome our former fifth most senior elective office holder in the country. The historic home coming, which could be likened to a “triumphant entry,” was the senator’s first home coming after the last election.

Most Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi indeed, stole the show when he arrived the reception ground, many supporters and admirers from all walks of life besieged the reception to catch a glimpse of senator Nwaoboshi, the Political Oracle of Delta State. Many of this supporters, who cut across gender, age, religious and political affiliations were clad in branded ankara fabrics or T-shirts with varying inscriptions in honour of the All Progressives Congress (APC)and Ovie Omo-Agege pictures, Senator Nwaoboshi found expression in the attires.
Songs of adulation rented the air with the accompaniment of cultural performances from various traditional ensembles. Most noticeable was a group of the APC supporters who carried bells like town criers in a village square, eulogizing senator Nwaoboshi’s presence at the carnival-like reception.

The folks that waited for the Delta State born highest political office holder were full of ecstasy at thresholds of their houses, while children on holiday were also thrilled by the presence of assorted cars and prominent visitors, just as a lot of traders made brisk business as the personalities made their way into the reception ground. The carnival-like reception held in his honour spilled into the entire sleepy community with music blaring from giant speakers. Vehicular and human traffic ruffled the rustic tranquility of the entire nook and cranny of the community while security agents measured up to the challenge, ensuring there was no form of the breakdown of law and order. The reception was thrown open to people, irrespective of ethnic, political, cultural, social, economic or religious leanings.

Senator Nwaoboshi who took turns to address the gathering, enjoined Deltans, especially in Delta Central to support and pray for the success of the former deputy president of the Senate, urging him to ensure that the Delta APC received its fair share of the “national appointments as our leader of the party in the state. Nwaoboshi told the gathering that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s politics of inclusion has also brought tremendous progressive gains to our people. He has worked with other leaders to grow the electoral and appointive fortunes of the APC in Delta State and beyond.

“His campaign to govern Delta State in the last general elections clearly speaks to our people’s overwhelming approval of his organic populist leadership. A leader with uncommon courage, equity, progressive values and convictions and firm faith in the power of the people. According to Senator Nwaoboshi,I have come for merriment. I want to thank all of us for putting this show of solidarity. I want to thank all of us for making it possible for APC to win two senatorial seat out of three, House of Representative and House of Assembly in the last 2023 election.
We have the needed strategies and our leader, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege,is an intelligent man who knows what to do and what to say. “It’s to these ends and much more that our people are overjoyed with the homecoming celebration ceremony in honour of Obarisi Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. The wisdom behind the idea itself is unassailable.
