Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the Senator, representing Delta North Senatorial district, has reiterated his desire to improve the welfare of widows in his ancestral home (Isieke) with monthly stipend.

He promised to continue with this monthly stipend  as long as he remains in office as Senator, representing Delta North Senatorial district.

The lawmaker, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, explained that the gesture was borne out of the need to relieve the widows of some of the challenges facing them.

Nwaoboshi said: “The vision to empower widows was borne out of my passion to support the widows in my little way and to deliver widows from long time captivity of maltreatment, abuse, relegation and stigmatisation.

“So, this gesture is in fulfillment of my promise to God.The honourable position I’m occupying today is a result of the trust and confidence (you have) in me to represent you effectively at the helm of affairs in our constituency. I’m indebted to you all for the gesture. This is just my little way of sincere appreciation to you all.”
Senator Nwaoboshi, said he would not rest on his oars until vulnerable people are empowered, adding that his Foundation
was working out fresh schemes of reaching out and giving back to society.

“As I’ve said repeatedly, I am making philanthropy my major preoccupation. We should all support the downtrodden and the vulnerable in charitable causes, especially now that the Nigerian economy needs our collective support. He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the cash gifts, promising to extend the largesse to others in the constituency.

The highly-elated and joyful women thanked the Senator for his giant strides and compassionate support for the widows in Isieke and assured him of their continuous support,’the statement indicated.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Madam Rachael Okafor and Mrs. Comfort Abiagom  , thanked the lawmaker for the kind gesture  and promised that they will spend it judiciously.
