Why I jumped out of PDP’s sinking ship — Ejiofor

By: Ike Philip Abiagom &  CY  Odiaka

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa
After weeks of speculation, Delta State PDP Assistant Organising Secretary, Ogbueshi (Hon)Anthony Ejiofor, on Wednesday  announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Hon. Ejiofor who is now a member of the opposition coalition, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and he has handed in his resignation letter to the PDP.

Coming amid the turbulence that has since engulfed the ruling PDP for months, the  former Delta State Asst. Organising Secretary said he left the party because it has “lost touch with Deltans”, and has failed to resolve its many crises, mainly instigated by its leadership.

“We have, therefore, concluded that the party cannot be redeemed. Infact, the PDP has abandoned Deltans, the very people who gave it life and many electoral victories.

Hon. Can we meet you ?

I am Ogbueshi Anthony Ejiofor, the immediate past Assistant Organising Secretary of Delta State PDP and former Vice-Chairman Transition Committee in Oshimili North Local Government  and a grassroots Politician from Ward 10 Ukala in Oshimili North Local Government of Delta State.

Sir, You just tendered your resignation letter to PDP, What happened?

Yes, I wish to inform Deltans  that, after extensive consultations, I have decided to take my leave of the People Democratic Party (PDP). This is not a decision that I have made lightly. If anything at all, I have tarried for so long and did all that was humanly possible, even in the face of great provocation, ridicule and flagrant persecution, to give opportunity for peace, reconciliation and harmonious existence.

Perhaps, more significantly, I am mindful of the fact that I carry on my shoulder a great responsibility for my boss, political associates and friends, who have trusted in my person and have attached their political fortunes to mine. However, it is after an extensive consultation with all the important stakeholders that we have come to this difficult but inevitable decision to pitch our political tent elsewhere; where we could enjoy greater sense of belonging and where the interests of the greatest number of our Deltans would be best served.

While I take full responsibility for this decision, I will like to emphasise that it is a decision that has been inescapably imposed on me by certain elements and forces within the PDP who have ensured that the minimum conditions for peace, cooperation, inclusion and a general sense of belonging did not exist because am strong follower of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

It bores down to personal reasons . I tendered my resignation letter because of the forces from the state government who decided to clap down on all the royal supporters of Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi and based on this fact I was among the people that was suspended online without giving a fair hearing just because am a core royalist of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi. If the Governor has an axe to grind with Sen. Nwaoboshi , why must they extend such to his followers, because of Senator Nwaoboshi’s rising profile at the senate they want to forcefully retire him politically which is not possible for now. I do not know when it becomes a sin to be loyal to your boss but if it is a sin to be loyal to Senator Peter Nwaoboshi , am ready to commit the sin a million times. I had to resign my position not minding anything. Before joining Politics  I have other means of live hood ,so I cannot abandon my boss under any condition.

Hon. Is like you have deep relationship with Senator Peter Nwaoboshi?

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is my mentor, father, political guidance , infact, he can be translated to our traditional adage that says the “the proof of the pudding is in the eating” most people do know him very well , he is one of the finest politician in Nigeria who has the passion to empower people around him and a man who believes in equity and justice.

Hon. From the Political Breeze in Anioma , it seems the governor is eying the senate seat come 2023?

Which seat? You mean to represent Anioma at the senate again . You and I know that Gov. Okowa cannot represent Delta North (Anioma) again as our senator  because he has failed us before. In fairness he is a good administrator and I  can give  it  to him , as a governor of Delta State he did his best , but as senator he failed before and will fail again.

Gov. Okowa do not have the capacity to excel as a senator and that is why he was unable to attract projects to Anioma Nation. If you combine the sixteen years Gov. Okowa  and Senator Osakwe spent at the senate , You can’t compare them to the six years Senator Peter Nwaoboshi just spend in the upper chambers, there are incomparable in all ramifications because Senator Nwaoboshi is a Go-Getter and a Political Bulldozer of which no past or living representative (Senator) can equate him.

Hon. , Is Senator Nwaoboshi going back for third term ?

My boss never told us that he is going for third but the entire Anioma  people in respective of political affiliations wants him back, infact continuity is the code password for 2023.

Anioma nation cannot afford to send someone who has fail us before or a learner in the system , every Anioma person knows that Senator Nwaoboshi is the best for the job because he gave us a voice at the senate unlike when Okowa and Osakwe were representing Anioma, we had no voice and both could not attract projects despite the fact their party (PDP)was the ruling party at the federal level then , but Nwaoboshi’s case was different because under opposition party(PDP) at the Federal level, he was able to attract uncountable projects for the nine local governments that made up  Delta North and he is still performing for us.

Senator Nwaoboshi is a game changer who knows how to play party politics when it matters most. Nobody can beat his records in Anioma. The entire Anioma including those in Diaspora  wants Senator Nwaoboshi to continue because we do not have his type again and we cannot allow someone who has failed before as a senator or a learner to represent us again, never.

Hon. Recently Gov. Okowa made a statement that anybody who will succeed him come 2023 must believe in Anioma Agenda and recognize  Asaba as capital, what is your take?

Gov. Okowa thinks he can fool Anioma people again , he should know that we are wiser now. Why did he not make this statement in 2015 and 2019 when he was running for election. Before he became Anioma first Governor we all believe in Anioma agenda but immediately he was elected he changed it to Owa agenda and not Anioma, he can’t fool Anioma people again. We all know his mission for making that statement because he wants to run for senate come 2023 and he wants to pretends as if he has the interest of Anioma People and Asaba  at heart . if he claims to love Anioma people dearly , let him mention how many Anioma politicians he made during for the past six years . Okowa gave all the Anioma empowerment to Owa people and now he is loving Anioma people again as the beautiful bride because of his agenda, “Never has Deltans witnessed the kind of tribalism in government as being witnessed under Governor Okowa where numerous infrastructures are sited in Owa-Alero his village at the detriment of other tribes in the heterogeneous state.”who is fooling who?.

Hon. A lot of people are now resigning from Delta State PDP, what is happening.

Governor Okowa has destroyed Delta State PDP . He met a united PDP when he came in as Delta State governor in 2015, but today because of his personal ambition and greed he has destroyed the party completely. How can someone who knows party politics want to retire the pillars of the party because he want to be in control of the party across the state. As journalists you people  saw what happen during the last PDP local Government Primaries election where Gov. Okowa performed political magic across the state by imposing his own candidates against the wish of party stakeholders and faithful, so he has finally destroyed the party and I bet you that it will be very difficult for PDP to win elections in Delta State again  and  Gov. Okowa should be held responsible for this calamity.

Hon. do you have any regret leaving PDP ?

No, but my only regret is that the once a united PDP party we all built together is now destroyed by Gov. Okowa and our Anioma agenda is now Owa agenda.

Hon. what advise do you have for the Anioma Nation come 2023?

The political coral we enjoy today in Anioma Nation was single-handedly successfully moved by the man I called the destiny child, the political Oracle of our time “Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi” because if not for Senator Peter Nwaoboshi  , Anioma will never have her first share of Delta Governor.

My advice to the all Anioma Nation is that we should always celebrate our own especially those that have stood the taste of time and  seen to the development of our Anioma Nation (our Heros). When Chief Awolowo was alive making sure that the Nigerian of his time grow in every perspective, he was not recognized and it has taking years and many more years for we to realized that Chief Awolowo’s quality of leadership cannot be found in any political platform of today.

My honest prayer is that God should open the eyes of the Anioma Nation, Deltans and Nigerians at large to see the quality leadership of Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi.

We are begging God, to develop another Sen. Nwaoboshi because for now Anioma nation do not have his replacement.
