Obi Nwoko clears way for attainment of peace in Idumuje Ugboko Kingdom

Idumuje Ugboko community has witnessed another landmark achievement in its quest for lasting peace which has eluded the agrarian community for some time. In a well-attended Izu – Ani which took place today, the 22nd of May, 2021, H.R.M. Obi Chukwunnoso Nwoko the Obi of the Idumuje Ugboko Kingdom in his wisdom announced the cancellation of all Ban and fines placed on anyone as a result of the lingering crises in the town dating back to 2015.

It would be recalled that the Idumuje Ugboko community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, has been engulfed in crises, with peace efforts by eminent sons and daughters, not yielding the much-desired peace.

According to the Obi, “Everybody beginning from the high and mighty to the ordinary person in the town is hereby unbanned and free to come to the palace and interact among all Ugboko people.

The Dialogue committee chairman Mr, Uzor Uzor while addressing the huge crowd that thronged the Obi’s palace, thanked everyone present and gave a brief report on the activities so far.

He also explained the obstacle the committee is experiencing, amongst which are the issue of people that were banned.

Also, Prince Demas Nwoko explained the need for everyone to embrace peace and let Idumuje Ugboko come back to its usual status of a land of peace.

Prince Barrister Mbanefo Nwoko in his address added that the community for the past five years has witnessed very sad events which have led to several arrests, numerous litigations, and stagnation of the town and pleaded that enough is enough that its time for everyone to embrace peace.

Notable indigenes present at today’s Izu Ani were Prince Demas Nwoko, Mr. Good Omezi, Rev. Mark Nwoko, the Omu of the Idumuje Ugboko, Prince Richard Obiajulu Nwoko, Prince Ejimofor Nwoko, elders, and youths from the four quarters of the town and religious leaders.

In addition, the secretary to the peace committee Hon. Jossy Honnah thanked the entire community for accepting to set aside all their differences and see peace as a way forward for the community while thanking the  Obi  for showing the fatherly love in his discussion to wave and extend an olive branch to all.

He also assured the people present that the committee will not rest on its oars until lasting peace is achieved in the community.
