[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ost Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi, on Wednesday expressed his condolence to the good people of Asaba over the demise of the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Joseph Edozien CFR, JP.
In a condolence message on his social media pages, Nwaoboshi noted that the first-class monarch left a lasting legacy for his people. Obi Prof. Joseph Edozien had passed on at the age of 100 years , after a brief illness.
Nwaoboshi’s condolence message read, “The news of the passing of the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Joseph Edozien CFR, JP at the age of 100 has brought an end to a glorious era and remarkable reign of an outstanding traditional ruler in Aniomaland and Nigeria as a whole.
He noted that the monarch provided purposeful leadership for his people and residents of Asaba, the state capital throughout his 33-year reign.
He said that Asaba witnessed a quantum leap in urbanisation during Edozien’s rule, with respect to population, infrastructure, and socio-political developments.
“On behalf of my entire family, I commiserate with the Good people of Anioma and the people of the ancient city of Asaba, family, friends and associates of the deceased.
“His death is a great loss to the people of Asaba and he will be greatly missed. He made lots of positive impact during his lifetime, contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of Anioma, Delta State and Nigeria at large as a philanthropist, Professor Emeritus and later as a traditional ruler.
“Obi Prof. Joseph Edozien as a first class traditional ruler left a lasting legacy that the people of Asaba will continue to cherish.
